2. BETH’S SONG CHOICE
CHARLIE WILSON – NOBODY TO
LOVE
This song is quite dramatic and powerful so a similar music video would be
needed
My idea is a water based music video that is a concept video. The lyrics read
“I know you’re tired of loving, of loving with nobody to love, so just grab
somebody, no leaving this party with nobody to love”
I envisage a single girl/ boy fully clothed in a dramatic outfit e.g. wedding
dress, suit etc. floating and drowning underneath the water. The metaphor
behind the actions in the music video would be as follows: the “I know you’re
tired” lyrics would be reflected by the drowning and the “no leaving this
party with nobody to love” would be reflected by the individual surfacing to
the water and catching a breath. Within the water there would be reflections
of real life events that cause pain e.g. homelessness as well as clones of the
individual doing different actions within the water at the same time
Special effects: slow motion, black and white, cloning
What could go wrong? We would need an underwater camera plus maybe
expensive costumes
3. DREA’S SONG CHOICE
HEY YA / STAY THE NIGHT REMIX
The main character is lip synching the song in a room alone, dancing
and getting really into it
Throughout the song, people (guys and girls), fade one at a time into
the scene. The main individual sings to each of them, before fading
out. It will end with the main individual singing alone in the middle of
room
[Dancing with other characters in instrumentals]
4. EMMA’S SONG CHOICE
LANA DEL RAY – NEVER LET ME GO
Concept:
Couple on a day out (beach? London?)
Late 70’s, Sid and Nancy style couple (not as extreme)
Old vintage filter over the top
Setting in a ‘rough’ sort of rustic area
Couple wearing leather jackets, ripped jeans
Parts of the video seen from the girls perspective, then changing
to seeing the couple
5. JOE’S SONG CHOICE
TINIE TEMPAH FT. ELLA EYRE –
SOMEDAY (PLACE IN THE SUN)
Someday opens Tinie's latest album demonstration, his words are that it opens the album beautifully. The chorus to the song was
originally sung by Eric Turner but after some deciding Tinie decided that he wanted it to be sung by a female too add more
emotion to the song, he wanted someone young, new and British and went with Ella Eyre.
The song is about people who go about there day as normal get back to work and carry on with there regular job but they dream
that happiness is not far away. They will keep reaching for their dream and they will be successful in what they do. Its about
having personal goals and having a dream to strive for. Reaching for the sun is Tinie’s metaphor for striving towards happiness.
It's a very upbeat song and this is why I thought that it would be a good song to do because it highlights emotion in it but in a
positive way and this is different to most other songs that might be chosen. It also includes both a make and a female so it would
allow more audiences to interact with it. It also includes rap and typical pop conventions so it would be interesting to do because
it mixes with genres a bit.
The lyrics in the song show that the character has gone from a life with very little to a more successful one that they have created
for themselves with nothing but hard work. The lyrics are very sting and powerful. "W**kers hating on me cos I did it single
handed" this line shows us that people don't like the success that this person has made for themselves. "Victory is the greatest,
defeat is real sour" it shows that they never give in and keep going until they our successful.
My idea for the music video is a performance idea, I think that we should find a dark room and just keep it very simple and have
the artists standing in front of the camera moving around looking at the sky etc.
The idea would be to use lots of clever special effects and play around with the editing of the piece a lot. I was going to try a
concept video for this because the lyrics in this are powerful and I had some ideas but they were to hard to work on because they
required a lot of settings and people which wouldn't be available so I had to change my idea.
