3. I've forgotten how it feels with the carpet under my seat
It's the polyester fibers that wrap around my feet
Feels like home, home
When the cold shakes my bones it's the rug that warms my soul
It's the textile to the skin, and the sensation alone feels like home, home
So if you ever come 'round to my house take your shoes off at the door
'Cause it's impolite not to; you'll be damaging my floor
'Cause it's my home
When you're down and you're alone it's the train that brings you home
And your mother, brother, sister, father, waitin' at the door
It's so sweet, sweet
Makes me glad I'm only a stone's throw away
Makes me sad that others can't have it the same way
Oh, home, home
In the forest it's unlikely that you'll find a home so tidy
Compared to what it's like living like a city type
Why, it's no home
4. TREATMENT
• ‘Home’ is a soft, heart felt song. The sound of the song, will also back up the
emotional feel the lyrics and melody give off. As the song is personal and real, the
focus will be on my chosen actor, shooting lots of simple, performance footage.
Overall the video will be highly richly visual and cinematic.
• We start with several shots of the landscape, suggesting that this is the place where
he has lived and grown up. By featuring rural locations this emphasises the indie/folk
feel I am aiming to give off. It will then show the audience the actor, who is in the role
of Dan Croll, either strolling or sitting down within the chosen location, this is to
illustrate to the audience this is his place of home and through, close up shots of
peaceful, expression, he loves his hometown. The camera will also start to track
slowly while he walking along a country road, towards the camera. I will also be
shooting some footage of the actor travelling, this being on a train, and also away
from the set location, this giving the message to the audience, that he may travel,
and this can unravel the story of him being home sick and how much he misses his
hometown and his roots.
• When the song hits its climax I will also add a wow shot, this being a shot where the
scene is remember able to the audience. To make the song more positive and
leaving the melancholic feel for a while, I am going to have a shot of the actor,
socializing with friends. This either being at home in a party environment, or out in
public like a bowling alley. This is too show the happiness and passion Dan Croll is
singing about and how his hometown makes him happy.
• Later on through the song, a backdrop will be put in place, giving a simple set, and a
spotlight, while the actor will lip sync to the lyrics . By producing a simple set this will
then let the audience listen to the lyrics and they can then take them in giving off a
melochony, meaningful performance and it’s also a clear way to deliver the message.
5. • At the beginning on the song, most shots will be long shots of the surroundings of the
actor. This being light, and to seen as simple, clear and perfect. As the song then
gradually gets in to the rhythm and the feel I will then, gradually add shots which are more
darker and illustrate life at its best, this ,meaning more shots such as being on the train,
and the shot of the party/ socializing scene. By doing this and adding other shots of cities
with a lot of people, and showing havoc this can then emphasis the contrast between two
sets of life and how the singer is showing his passion for both but stating there is no place
like home. ‘compared to what its like living like a city type’ these lyrics will illistarte the
message he is trying to give off.
6. MISE EN SCENE
• In order for my music video to be portrayed in the most realistic way, the Mise en scene
which will be used will be casual, when it comes to clothing. I will also be using every day
items, this being due to budgeting issues.
• Some things which will be used within my video will be
• A sofa, which is easily availible to use.
• A guitar
• Headphones, phones,lights
• Clothes
• – Male Role – Casual everyday wear. Jeans and a jumper. Indie Feel.
• - Female Role – Casual everyday wear. Dress, tights, hat. Indie Feel.
7. LIGHTENING AND MOOD
• Throughout my video the mood will change, this depending on the scene and the
scenario. The message the song is giving off is put across to the audience as positive as
its about the passion about his hometown, although a melancholic feel may also be
portrayed through the video as I will be shooting scene of a city vibe, giving off the feeling
of homesickness.
• The mood when the actor is walking down/ sitting in his natural environment of the
country will be positive throughout the video, although the audience will see a change in
mood when coming home, scenes of the actor on a train, gazing out the window. The
lightening will also play an effective part of addressing the mood, as I will make the
lightening darker, and distorted, whereas the lightening with the rural locations and
settings will be bright and clear, reflecting the mood.
8. LOCATIONS
• The first seen will be of the actor walking/ sitting in the village in a country side. This
location will be a rural location. This suggesting he is thinking , as he is walking and
sitting, along the river bank. From the facial expressions, and the bright lightening this
should suggest the actor is happy and is admiring the view in front.
9. LOCATIONS…
• Another Location which will be used is a train journey, and a city vibe. I haven chosen to
do this as this then shows to the audience why the singer is singing these words, and by
showing the actor traveling can suggest to the audience the homesickness he is feeling.
When filming this I am going to darken the lightening to show the mood.
10. LOCATIONS
• Another location which will be featured in my music video will be a ‘Home’, for the obvious
reason that he is singing about home, I feel that the video should contain footage of the
actor, feeling at home, and enjoying not only the environment and the towns/ village
surroundings but also his actual home. By using a setting like this, the lyrics will then
become more clearer to the audience and they may understand the purpose of the song
to a better level.
