2. GENERAL STYLE OF MUSIC VIDEO:
• The style of my music video is a mixture between a performance video
structures and also a narrative, this is so that I can present the perceived
meaning of the video along with the performance.
• In terms of Jon Gow’s theory I am going to have an enhanced performance
piece again to present the narrative, it could also be seen as a song and
dance number as it includes the performance.
• My music video is also going to show the relationship between the lyrics and
music and the visuals of the video, I would also like to present the
iconography of the genre to link with the style of music and finally potentially
include references to other TV programmes.
3. WHAT WILL WE SEE?
• My music video is going to be the presentation of nostalgia to the
artist, I am going to include flashback footage of the artist’s childhood
using fading and similar editing devices to present this idea. The
flashback footage will continuously switch between footage of the
performance by the artist in the ‘present’ and flashback of his ‘past’
self. In the areas, of which is performance by the adult artist, I will use
low tilts to present him as older and possibly more powerful compared
to the flashback footage where I will use high tilts to present the
children as slightly more vulnerable. To end the video I will show the
transition of the artist between; child to adult, through a fade shot.
4. WHAT RESOURCES WILL YOU NEED?
• I do not need a lot of props when filming in terms of actually on screen props, however
throughout filming I will need a camera and tripod to ensure the smoothness of my camera
movements and the quality of my video.
• The locations for my video are fairly simple as in the shots of which show artist performing are
in basic locations such as sitting on the outside stairs of a building, or even just walking up or
down a road, potentially an abandoned town street. For the shots used for the flashback I will
use the house of the actors involved, as I would not need to find other resources to present
their childhood as they will already be there, I am also going to use a garden or field to show
them running around and having fun to present the idea of childhood being a relaxed time
of the artists life, as presented in the lyrics.
• I am going to need 2-3 actors when filming; one more grown up male to present as the artist
and also a young male to present the childhood flashbacks, I may include a second child to
present the playful nature between children.
6. WHO WILL YOU NEED TO ORGANISE
FOR YOUR MUSIC VIDEO SHOOT?
• I will need to organise only 3-4 people as I only need this amount; myself,
male actor, 1-2 children actor. My child actors will be reliable as I can
access or communicate with them all the time, my male actor is unknown at
the moment and therefor I cannot say whether they will be reliable or not.
7. WHEN DO YOU PLAN TO SHOOT
YOUR MUSIC VIDEO?
• I plan to film my shots of the performance when there is low lighting, for
example at or around sunset to present the possible dark side of the artists
life linked with the lyrics. However, I will film the flashback footage in bright
lighting conditions to present the enjoyable and ‘light’ theme of childhood,
again linked with the lyrics.
