2. Themes
Dark- The theme of darkness will be a prominent feature within the poster. This will
be to reflect the dystopian genre to the soap opera. As well as this the dark theme
suggests that there is evil in the soap opera, which refer to the problems that occur
within the characters’ lives. This dark/ black backdrop can be incorporated with smoke
or mist to add more effects to the poster.
Black VS White- The mix of the two symbolic colours are used to highlight the
characters and how they may reflect the characters being innocent and evil. The black
and white compliment each other effectively as well as they stand out together
making the poster appeal more to the public eye.
Shots of locations- These shots of locations will represent the the dilemmas that will
occur in the soap opera. There will also be shots of dilemmas to highlight the most
impactful events to appeal the audience.
3. The tagline on the poster would be a phrase that would represent the
problems within the soap opera. This way, the tagline will be very
dramatic and vague and this will force the audience to watch the soap
opera in order to find out what happens in the soap opera. There will
need some element of a cliffhanger as well in order to ‘hook’ the
audience.
“The road ends here”- The tagline relates to the main title of the soap
opera as the name is based on a road. This also highlights that as the
road ‘ends’ there will be a finale of the events that occur as a result of
a build up of tension and suspense.
“Problems at every corner”- This phrase suggests how there is total
dystopian and it gives the audience a sense of entrapment, making
them watch the soap opera.

4. Images needed
For the poster I need images that will display the locations of the problems to outline
the setting in which they are located. As well as this I will need images that will
summarise the problems as this could possibly relate to the audience, or almost lure
them in to watching the soap opera as the problems may appeal to them. I will also
need a image of the chalk lane road sign, which will give the audience a sense of
where the soap opera is located. This will be included as a backdrop and will fade into
the black background. Also I will need one of the main protagonists in the centre of
the poster to further appeal to the audience by allowing them to relate to this
protagonist and also make the audience feel curious about the character and their role
within the soap opera.
5. Synergy with social media- At the bottom of the poster I will have links to
social media by placing the icons of the infamous logos such as twitter,
Facebook, snap chat and instagram. This will therefore allow the audience to
follow these sites and remain notified about exclusive news. Also I will include
a hash tag, which in turn, will allow the audience to interact with the soap
opera and also allow the soap opera to trend on the social media sites, which
will also generate more publicity.
Synergy with Magazine- to accomplish synergy with my magazine I will try to
use the same dilemmas involved in my poster with my magazine. Also I will
try to incorporate the same social media icons in order to use the same
hashtag. By linking the two together there will be more coverage of the soap
opera, in turn increasing readership as well as the popularity of soap opera.
Point of call information- this will be used in my poster in order to display to
the reader the date of the episode. Therefore they will gain information about
the time of it airing and it will result in the audience remembering about this
and therefore will allow there to be an increase in viewers of the soap opera
6. Conclusion
In order to produce this poster, I will firstly need to take the
desired pictures that I would want in my poster. This could be
taken during our filming as this would be time effective and
they will be the actual sites where the dilemmas occur. To
present the characters accurately I will need them to keep
their clothes that they wore within the filming along with
props to represent the dilemmas e.g. alcohol or a knife. This
will highlight to the audience that the true character and how
they will be portrayed in. I will also need to find a suitable
font, which is bold in order to create emphasis within the title.
To actually produce the poster I will be using Adobe
Photoshop CS5 2015.5 as this will have the basics to produce
the poster using a variety of tools such as the text tool (ctrl+
t).
