1. 2. How effective is the combination of your
main product and ancillary texts?
There are a variety of comparisons between my main product and my ancillary
tasks, this was in order to visibly demonstrate and create a link in the relationship in
harmony to the film being focused on. Due to my main product and my ancillary tasks
working alongside each other, I have been able to give a more prominent and
sophisticated representation of my film in contrasting and divergent ways.
2. The link between my main product
and my ancillary tasks
So that a distinctive and clear link between all form of the media being used can be
made by the audience, I have in some form integrated numerous aspects between
all of my ancillary tasks which later on feature within my film trailer. The blood
covered mask of the murderer appears throughout my film trailer and is included
on both my magazine cover and my film poster, this was to clearly represent and
define the genre of the film to be horror. However, for each illustration of the
mask/murderer I have used a different shot to increase the audiences curiosity
and intrusiveness towards the film. On my film poster, for example, there is a
close up of the whole mask which is lit up and bright to contrast against the black
background to give a more sophisticated and professional look as well as illustrate
the genre of the film more evidently. Whereas, My magazine cover has an extreme
close up on the eyes of the killer which is slightly faded and therefore hidden at
the top of the cover, which in turn will intrigue the audience bringing their full
attention towards the magazine. The beginning of the film trailer is filmed at eye
level to make the audience feel as if they are involved amongst it; there is a plain
black screen until there is a sudden appearance of flashing images of the
killer, with only mask being visible, coming closer and closer toward the audience
with jaggered screams, this is to help build suspense and reflect the genre of the
film.

4. Design in title
Finally, I have displayed clear links between all three media products through the
specific design and colouring of the text used. To symbolise blood, danger and
gore I have used dark red text in my film trailer, film poster and magazine
colour, this has also helped make a connection with the horror genre. Using his red
text also enables the audience to differentiate it from other films and media
products coming out, therefore it will be easier to recollect the film at a later time.
5. Summary
Overall, it is in my opinion, at the amalgamation of my main product and my ancillary
texts has been immensely effective, as they harmoniously work together in a
variety of diverse ways to link towards the film and genre to give a clearer outlook.
However, I believe it could have been more effective had I made more links
between the medias, such as, using the same texts or including a weapon.
