1. Weekly Reflections

2. Week 1
This week was our first week of our FMP. The first thing I did was doing some context for my idea. I
started to do some context on some different directors and screenwriters such as Charlie Brooker
and David Fincher. I also looked at stuff like Dan Harmon story circle, conspiracy theories and
corridor digital to name a few. Doing this would help me a lot for actual research. Looking at the
directors was good because I learned a lot about the style they use and what tropes they use a lot.
Doing this helped me get insperation. Charlie brooker uses a lot stuff to do with technolagy in his
anotolagy show black mirror and it is where I got my insperation from to do my film. Also dn
harmon story circle showed me how to write a propper story and it will help me a lot when I am
writing my script. I will need to follow that really closely to make sure that my script is the best it
can be.

3. Week 2-3
How do you feel about writing your proposal?
I felt ok when I was writing your proposal. I had a good idea what my target audience was going to so I found a lot of information about them
such as what genera they like and what tropes they like for a few examples. I knew what rational I have had, writing lots of different techniques
I have learned through the few years I have done this cause. I felt like I have a good project so I felt ok writing it. Overall when I was writing the
proposal I felt ok writing it I had lots of info and good ideas
Do you think you have enough knowledge to proceed?
I think I have got enough knowledge to proceed to with my planning. I have got a lot of information about my target audience so I can plan
around that. I have an ok concept so I know what I have to plan to. Plus I have a schedule so I know what I need to do
What further research do you need to do?
I would like to research about film that are linked to my film but I will do that during research document. I will also do a survey so I can get
some more research about my target audience e
Do you think you have produced enough work?
Me personally I think I have done enough research to help me for the future. I didn’t need to write paragraphs in my proposal I will save the
long paragraphs for my research. The proposal Is just here to give me some basic information and just making sire I know what my concept is.
What could you do to improve this work?
What I could improve is that I could write more in my schedule. I could write a little more in it so I know what I exactly need to do
Also in the middle of week 3 I started doing some problem solving. Wrinting down problems I may come across and how I will fix them
and make sur ehow it wont happen again.

4. Week 4
In this week started doing some problem solving which is about what I need to identify such
as actors /actress's camera operators and stuff like that. I have identified a couple of
problems that I need to sort out. I have made a couple of mind maps to see what I need to
get. What I have done already is got an actor and a camera operator, this is a start. The
problem solving has helped me in my project because there are some equipment and props, I
can’t get. If I come across a problem and/or a solution I will write them in these production
reflections.

5. Week 5
What you have you learned from your research so far?
I have learned a lot during my research. I earned a lot more about my target audience. I made a survey and I got people around
the age of the audience to take the survey just answering simple questions to help me write and shoot my film. I also learned
some new production techniques such as how to do bullet effects and CCTV effects. The one that I am planning on using the
most is the CCTV effect so I watched the video in more detail looking at the different assets I need to use in the effect.
What other research do you think you need to do to support your project?
I ned to research film that are related to the film I am going to make. I am probably look at 3-4 films so I can look at different
styles and effects that they use. I also want to research the BBFC looking at all the citification and then say which one my film
will fall under.
What do you think you can you take forward from this research in to your project?
I can take forward how I can make a CCTV effect in my film. This will be important for me because it will be a big focus in my
film. Also the target audience research. I can use this to make sure my film fits the target audience
Has your research changed how you will approach your project?
It hasn’t really no. I will approach it how I normally approach projects. Start by making a script. once I have done that I will
make sure my script makes sense and the ending makes sense. Then I will do the heath and safety forms and all the paperwork I
need to do. Then shoot my film in a few days. Edit it and the put the finishing touches on it.
Has your research highlighted any problems that you need to solve?
The only problem really is how I am going to shoot the CCTV shots because on the video the shot it high up and that will be
hard fir me but we will find a way to do it .
Which aspect of your research do you think is the most successful so far?
Defiantly the surveys. I have got a lot of research about my target audience and this will help me a lot especially when writing
and shooting my film. So the survey was quite successful for me and my film

6. Week 6
What you have you learned from your research so far?
I have learned a lot about other films that a linked with my film such as Enemy Of The State and panic room. They link quite well with my film.
They both have aspects of the film where they use CCTV camera and a pov of a camera and using some good effects in it which I would also
like to use in my film. Also I am getting my insperation from david Fincher and he directed panic room which was darkly coloured and son are
most of his film so that is how I want to colour my fill.
What other research do you think you need to do to support your project?
I don’t think I need to do any more reserch. I have done a lot of reserch already and I think that the research I have done will help me do do
my pre production so I don think I need to do any more research.
What do you think you can you take forward from this research in to your project?
I can take a lot forward from this reserch such as the audience certification, I learned what specifications need to be met to become a certin
age rating, this was intresting and good for me because I wanted mine to be around 12A-15 so I looked at each one of the ratings and what
needed to be met for that film. I also took forward what directors do in thriller films, what tropes they use and I took that info and tried to
input it into my film
Has your research highlighted any problems that you need to solve?
Yeah one of the problems of my film is how I will make my film 12A- 15 so I need to becarful what I put in my film ad make sure it isnt to
graphic for my audience
Which aspect of your research do you think is the most successful so far?
Deffinaty looking at the audience certification because ei found aut a lot about audience certification and this will also help me in further
projects and it is a useful thing to know.

7. Week 7-8
Production starts on Monday, how well planned are you?
I have planned quite a lot of stuff for example I have made my script which I will use for when I shoot my film. This will help me and my acotrs know
what they are doing. It will also help me keep track where we are and by crossing out the line we have done I have markers to say what we have done .
What has worked well in your planning?
Planning my script has turned out really good and has and will help me a lot in this upcoming process of filming and editing.
What things have you still got to work on?
I still have to work on my shot list. This will be important because this will also help me know where I am while on set and it will have brief notes to say
what type of shot I need and alos if iis a close up or a mediu shot
Have you got a production schedule? How useful do you think it will be?
I haven’t currently got a production schedule and I think it would be really useful because I will be able to keep an eye on production to make sure I am
on track
How often, if at all, will you review you planning during production?
I am planning on reviewing my planning every week through my weakly reflection
Has anything gone wrong because of poor planning before?
Yes last year when I was doing my FMP I didn’t do a script so it was a struggle do get my actors to say what I wanted
Is anything likely to go wrong because of poor planning now?
Yeah things can still go wrong because I might not get everything that I need on my script or production schedule
What have you learned during the planning stages of this work?
I have learned how to plan properly and how to properly write a script

8. Week 9
This week I have been doing editing. Focusing on my ending. I am wanting the frame to
pull out and reveal more TVs from the news scene so I have been trying to find the best
TV to use. So I have been doing experiments to find the best. this will help me decide
which one looks the best and put in my film and which one looks a little bit naff and
wont fit in my film. By doing a few production experoments it will give you lots of ideas
and it will really help you. I have also editi the ending fully together with all my effects on
the news scene. I put a news background where the green screen was and also a couple
of overlays to make to look like a proper news broadcast, I also put a royalty free news
intro first to make it look proper.
Also this week I have started on my score for the film. Me and my old music teachers has
been working on the beginning of the film making the score for the intro. We had some
trouble getting started but once we had a base for the score we kept going and going

9. Week 10
At the end of last week and the stare of this week I shot my film. It took me around 8-10
hours to shoot my film, I managed to get all the shots I need to get. It was really hard work but
I managed to do it. I filmed at my house at I had help fro Josh Eastham and Jay Birkin. We
managed to take our tim and paced ourselfs while shooting. Overall it was a great shoot and
on mobday I was abal to get a rough edit of my film. An that is what I did.
When I go in on the monday I made a rough edit of my film and showed it to my teacher and
peers with no music or sond effects on it. It was a really productive week because I was able to
have a look at my film that I shot in full and I played it over ad over again to see if I need to
change anything and if I need to change the pace of my film. The pace will be inportant for my
film because my film is a thriller and thrillers are nomerly quite slow and until action come
and when the actions come it is quick and jumps around a lot
When I was at home I also started working more on my score thinking what instroments will
work in my film and how I will use them effectively. I will actually recored somemore in the
upcoming weeks with my music teacher.

10. Week 11-12
In these two weeks I was able to find some visual effects and sound effects that will work in my
film. I was looking for glitching and staick visual effects and also sound effects. Once I
expermented with a couple of effects I chose the one wich would sound the bets in this certain
circumstace and I imported that effect into the film and messed around with the effect making
sure it looks perfect and is bleded in well or if it sound ok and is insync with a certen shot or a
certen effect. I was abel to get all the effects in during these weeks which is good because it
will save me a lot of time later on.
I was also able to get more of my score recorded. I was abale to get around 5-6 scenes
recorded. It look us around 2 hours to get it all recorded. We used a lot of plugins and different
instruments that we overlaid on each sound to make the sound track a little grungy

11. Week 13
During this week of production I made sure that my ending was smoothed out
because I have been stuggleing with the pulling out of the camera reviling the
tvs but I managed to fix that with the help with one of my teachers. We
zoomed in on one of TVs and we pulled out from there, it lookes really effective
and whith the news playing on the screen it looks really effect and quite
spooky.
Also during this week I did all of th effects for the CCTV cameras. Tey where
quite simple once I got use to it. The first few where quite hard and I wasn’t
sure what way was the best way to do the effects and I was battling with myslef
wondering if I need more noise in the effect or less noise, It was quite
annoying. Once dopen all of the effects I edited some of the CCTV camera shot
to pop up on the computer screen and it look awesome.

12. Week 14-15
There where our final 2 weeks of production and I was very busy during these weeks. I
managed to finish my score and once we finished it and exported our final few sections I
importewed them into my film and made sure that my score sycned up with the viusuals
and thankfuly it did. I tweeked the sound a little making it come in quiet and getting
louder and atv the end get quieter so I can transition between each track easily and it also
sounds really effective.
Also through these weeks I finished editing my intro with the help of my friend Josh
Eastham. We actually made this in Sony Vegas because it has a lot more pre-sets and
effects in it and Josh was a lot more experienced in it.
Finally in these weeks I made my ending credits. I made the credits in premier pro. I made
the credits roll because most end credits in films roll and that’s what I wanted to do. And I
also put a background on my end credits so you just font look at black.

13. Week 16
During this week I did my evaluation. This took longer than expected because I didn’t realise
how much I needed to write. I managed to write a lot during this week making sure I write
down every important things that happened during the production of my film. I made sure that
I talked about al the relevant things especially what happened in post production and pre
production. But I also remembered to talk about other problems such as management
problems and also emotional problems. The evalauatoion went well in my opinion I managed to
write a lot but doing get me wrong it was hard because I didn't have much time to do my
evaluation
Also during this week I started to tweak other pieces of work such as my proposal and other
earlier pieces. I wanted to make sure I have wrote enough valid information in each document.
Also if the document is fully updated I will put it on my website through slideware.

14. Week 17-18
These where the last few weeks. During these last few weeks I havew been making
sure that all of my work is on my website and that all my work is up to scratch. I
also made sure that my website is nice and neat so it looks nice and aseteticaly
pleasing to the people who are looking at my website. Doing these last few cheachs
is really important because ei had forgotton a few things in my planning document
so I was abal to add the things that I have left out and the added that document
back onto the website.
During these last few weeks we will be doing our presitation outlining how we will
present our products and also show our organisation and comunication of ourt
ideas to present our products for example showing our films at our end of year
show.
