2. Location
I have decided that I will shoot my film at my house. The reason why I have decided
to film at my house is that I know the location like the back of my hand so I would
know all of the risks I would need to state also I wouldn't need to pay for the location
to film because it is my house so I get to use it for free. There are some risks at the
house/set such as the cellar, there is sharp corners of wood and stone so we would
have to make sure we don’t cut ourselves on the corners. Also you could slip down
the stairs so if I wanted to do a scene on the stairs we would have to be carful. I
wouldn’t need t worry about the weather much I only have a few shots outside so I
would do them shots before it gets dark or rain, I don’t really need to worry about
the weather if I do the first scenes outside. My location isn't big so the distance to
each set isn't big. I have also have to have some breaks so I would take breaks for
lunch and also a snack break.
3. Location
Green screen studio.
In here I am wanting to
film my news anchor
scene. I will have someone
reading Infront of the
screen and then I can mak
the set around him.
Class room
In here I will be doing all of
my editing. It has apple
iMacs in it which is good
for editing
4. Finance
For equipment I don’t need to buy anything because I am going to borrow them form
college and I don’t need to pay money to rent them from college so I don’t need to
worry and money for equipment. I don’t need to travel to my location because the set
is in my house but the people helping me Josh is editing a lift from his family so he
doesn't need to pay for transport and Jay is going to drive to my house so he will have
to pay for gas money. I don’t need to pay my cost and crew because i am helping them
in their films and I am also providing them with food and drink. I also don’t need to pay
for facility hire because it is my house so I don’t need to pay anything.
5. Time
I have to make sure that all my deadlines are in time making sure I have time to:
• Enough time Shoot my film at my desired location.
• Enough time to do some reshoots if needs be
• Enough time to compose my score for the film
• Enough time to edit my film and do my effects
• I need to leave time doing my paperwork such as my planning and evaluation
• I need to make sure I get my equipment for my dedicated time slot so I would need to book out
the equipment ASAP
• I need to make sure everyone is available for my allocated date
• I need to make sure that I have a spare date free just incases I cant film that day
• I need to make sure I hand all of my work on the deadline
6. Personnel
I already have my cast and crew to help me film. It isn't really big it is a 3 msn crew which consist
of me (Luke Simpson) and my friends Josh Eastham and Jay Birkin. I have already allocated them
rolls for wen they arrive on set, I need some to be a camera man, producer, assistant director
and sound man. They all have the same experience I have with all this equipment which is the 2
years we have been at college for. I have made sure that the day I am filming they are all free to
help me and I don’t need to pay them because I am helping them with theirs and I am providing
them with lunch and snacks. Personnel Character

7. Meetings
I have had a few meetings with my cast and crew. One of them at college a couple days before
we stated filming making sure they know what time they need to arrive at my house and what
they need to bring with them, making sure I know how they are getting there so I can make sure
everything is ok before they arrive. We also ad a meeting on the day, making sure they know
what they are doing and making sure they know the script and know their rolls and what they
need to do with the camera with each scene. My fist meeting was around 10 mins and my
second meeting was around 15 mins. I also have had a meeting with my old music teacher who
is helping me compose my film. We have talked about what genera of film it is and what would
sound good in the film and what other films use in my genre of film. This meeting was around 20
mins
8. Equipment
Th production equipment I used to shoot my film where
• 600D Camera and battery
• 600D Battery (additional)
• 600D Battery Charger
• SD Card VIDEO
• Tripod
• Handheld Audio Recorder
• RODE Shotgun Microphone
This production equipment are as basic as you can get for a film, they are good enough to shoot something in decent quality.
For post production I will be using an apple imac, this is what we have a at college. Also at home I will use my alianwear PC. I
am going to edit on Adobie premier pro and I will also use photo shop for some essets for my film.
9. Post production
For post production I am going to use Adobie Premier Pro and Adobie After
Effects. I have been using these two programs for two years so I am used to
them. For my audio levels I am going to make sure they are in them middle
or just above, some may be quite high but that is intentional because there
are some scenes that I need to be quite loud. For transitions I will use simple
cuts because they work well I and I am going to cut to the score I am going
top make. Also for the score I want to try and implement some sound ore
something in it to like a drum hit for knocking or something like that. I am
going to have my colure quite dark using a lot of dark blues and black and
greys. I want to try and imitate David Fincher. There are VFX I want to do
such as POV CCTV effects so do some cool overlays and effects to make it
look like a CCTV shot
10. Health and safety
There is a lot of things I need to make sure is safe before I start to shoot my
film at my house. I need to make sure that I know where all the hazards are
around the set such as sharp corners, wet floors, loose floorboards and so on. I
need to make sure that all the wires are taped down so no one will trip over them
and hurt themselves or damage the cameras. I need to make sure if we
shoot outside and it looks like it is going to rain and need to shoot under cover
like a gazebo or something. When I am editing I need to make sure that I take
breaks so I don’t get eyes strain and feel dizzy and sick. I need to make sure that if
I have a drink while editing that I don’t put it near the computers because I
might spill it and I ma9ight electrocute myself.
12. Contingency Planning- technical
Pot. Problem Effect on Production Solution/ Control Person Responsible
Technical: Camera runs out of battery. It will delay our production of the film
which means we will have less time to
film.
We can have a spare battery but if
worse comes to the worse we will use
someone’s phone because most
phones have a high quality camera.
The person who got all the equipment.
Technical. Tripod is broken. It will delay our filming because we
don’t have anything stable to hold our
camera which means we wont get
stable shots.
We could go and get another tripod. The person who was using the tripod
or the person who got the tripod
because they might of picked a bad
tripod.
Technical. SD card runs out of storage. It will delay our filming because we
wont have any storage left to film, we
would have to delete shots that we
don’t need or we will have to go up to
our room download it onto our
computers and then clear everything
from the SD card and then start again.
We could bring a spare SD card just in
cases this happens also we could clear
all of the old footage that was on the
SD card before.
The person who got all the equipment.
Technical. Camera is broken and there
is no spares.
It will delay our production because
we will have to sort out and alternative
of the camera and we have to explain
it to our teacher.
We could use someone’s phone which
would still be really good quality
because most phones have a good
mega pixel camera.
the person who got all the equipment
or the person who was using the
camera.
Technical. Audio is very poor due to
the wind going past the microphone.
It will delay our production because
we will have to reshoot that scene
because the wind is too strong.
We could try and fix it In post
production my cutting the sound out
or editing round the wind.
The person who was using the camera.
13. Contingency Planning- organizational
Pot. Problem Effect on Production Solution/ Control Person Responsible
Organizational: someone turns up to the
shoot wearing something different to the day
before. So in the film this means the clothes
of the character will be different.
It wont look consistent because they
aren’t wearing the same clothes they
where wearing yesterday which means
the film will look uneven so production
will be delayed because they will have
to go home and get the same clothes
they where wearing yesterday.
We could try and work around it like if he
was wearing a different jumper they could
lose his jumper in the scene before.
The person wearing the different clothes.
Organizational: someone forgot to bring a
certain prop.
This will delay production because we
need that prop to film a certain scene.
We could film that scene the next day or
we could quickly make a new prop.
The person who was supposed to bring
the prop in.
Organizational: someone might be busy
doing another task that day of shooting.
This will delay shooting because they
where supposed to act in the scene.
We could try and find a new actor to fill in
the roll.
The person who was supposed to act in
the scene.
Organizational: someone forgets to bring the
camera which is needed for the shoot.
This will delay production because they
will have to go back and get the camera
and also all of the other cameras have
all been booked out.
We could use an iPhones because they
have good cameras.
The person who was supposed to bring
the camera in.
Organizational: someone is using the location
that you need for your film.
This will delay filming and production
because we will have to wait till they
have finished filming in the area.
We could film another scene somewhere
else.
The person who booked the location or
the person who is filming in the current
location for taking ages.
14. Contingency Planning- logistical
Pot. Problem Effect on Production Solution/ Control Person Responsible
Logistical: Bus breaks down. This will delay filming because we have to
wait for the person come.
We could film other scenes in the
meantime we could also film someone
else's film or shoot.
It is the bus companies fault.
Logistical: someone’s car breaks down. This will delay filming because we have to
wait for the person come.
We could film other scenes in the
meantime we could also film someone
else's film or shoot.
It is the car owners fault.
Logistical: there is too much equipment to
bring the certain location.
This will delay filming because we have to
take multiple trips so we can bring all of
the equipment.
We could bring a trolley or a cart which we
can put all of the equipment in and drag it
to the location.
It is our fault because we booked a lot of
equipment.
Logistical: someone cant get transporting
to the certain location.
This will delay filming because we have to
wait for the person to come.
We could film other scenes in the
meantime we could also film someone
else’s film or shoot some b roll.
It is the person who cant get to the places
fault.
15. Contingency Planning- personnel
Pot. Problem Effect on Production Solution/ Control Person Responsible
Personnel: someone is ill and cannot come
to the shoot that day.
This will delay production because we
might have to wait a few days for them to
come in and film there stuff.
We could film other scenes in the
meantime we could also film someone
else’s film or shoot.
It is the ill persons fault.
Personnel: someone is injured during the
production of the film.
This will delay filming because we have to
get them to hospital and they might not be
able to do anymore acting or filming.
We could get someone else to act for us. The person who got injured.
Personnel: someone has a personnel
problem with another member of the cast
or crew, which causes tension and drama.
This will delay filming because we will have
a lot of arguing and fight which wont be
good. Also we will have to help them to
become friends.
We could shoot some scenes separately. The people who where arguing and
fighting are the ones to blame.
Personnel: someone has to leave early to
catch a bus or a train.
This will delay filming because we have to
stop filming early just to cater to one
person.
We could film other scenes in the
meantime we could also film someone
else’s film ore shoot.
The person who need to catch the bus ore
train.

27. Planning for the VFX- CCTV
I want my visual effects to look good so I needed to get some
inspiration for some shots. I got the majority of my inspiration form
films like enemy of the state and panic room but I am also looking at
YouTube videos. I looked at videos from Tech2Fun, Film Riot and Short-
form video. Once I watched the YouTube Videos I had a think on how I
could do it myself. What I have decided to do is use Adobe Premier Pro
and import my clip and add a tint to the clip so It gets black and white
then I will add some noise and grain to make it look blurry so it looks
like the real thing. Then for some of the shots I will use a CCTV green
screen overlay to put a recording button blinking at the side and a time
stamp running hours, minutes, seconds and milliseconds. This will look
effective and professional.
28. Planning for the VFX- Into
I want my intro to look effective and clean because it will be the first thing people will see so I want
to leave a good impression. What I want to do is have some credits at the beginning with some
shots of my film in-between it. I am planning on having my name and joshes name glitch on and off
the screen with some green screen static in the background and I am planning on having my name
and joshes name glitch in and out between the CCTV overlay I am using for my CCTV effects. I thing
this will look effective and I am planning on using Sony Vegas because it has some better plug ins for
the transitions. After all of that I want an epic title card so I a planning on having it pull into screen
by having it glitch on and have it quite big and then make it smaller while using some glitching
effects to make it quite smooth. I am planning on having in the background of the title screen some
TVs with some Eyes moving on it and some CCTV footage. So I will get some green screen TVs and
then get some footage of moving eyes and CCTV footage from YouTube and put it on it.
