Working Title:
Horror Story: The Face in the Dark
What is it called? This can change if you think of something better later
Product’s Purpose:
The purpose of this product is to entertain younger (young adult / teen) audiences.
What is the product’s purpose (entertain/educate etc.) and how will you achieve this?
I will be using a range of sound materials / sound effects to engage with my audience, and to help
them create an image in their heads as to what my story is about, as well as helping them
understand the setting and atmosphere that I am trying to portray in my story. I will achieve this by
giving detailed descriptions, and highlighting the emotions that the main character is feeling. This
will help the audience picture the scene in their heads.
Genre:
Horror / Paranormal Genre
What sort of product is it
My product is a story for people to listen to online.
Content
Scary / Terror Themed Content
What is your product about? Discuss what you would put in it (be specific). Does it have a story? If
so, discuss it here
My product is a horror / ghost / paranormal story about a true event that happened to me
personally. I am taking details from the paranormal experience of mine, and creating something
new / expanding on it to create a horror story that will hopefully scare my audience.
Brief story pitch: The story follows myselfin 2016 justbefore moving into my new house. At the time of the
paranormal event,I am justa few days away from moving, and am home alone atnight watching TV and
playing video games.Late during the night,as I am watching TV downstairs,Ibegin to hear thuds / thumping
noises coming from upstairs.Scared,I begin to think someone is in myhouse. An hour passes bywith no
more noises and then suddenly,I begin to hear even more thumps and bangs upstairs.Ishutmyselfin my
kitchen with the TV on and arm myselfwith a kitchen knife, and stay put on a small chair.A shortamountof
time later, I begin to hear rapid thumps,as if someone is running down mystairs.Iprepare m yselffor
someone running into mykitchen, but nothing happens.More time passes by, and there is still no sign of
anyone in my house, butI am still shaken and terrified. As I continue watching TV, I look up to the kitchen
door, to find it cracked open, and a terrifying looking face is peeking in,staring at me through the gap in the
door. The figure emerges from the dark corridor and charges atme.Frozen in fear, I am unable to do
anything. The figure lunges his face towards mine, and I suddenlywake up. I am in my kitchen, with the TV
on and the kitchen knife by my side.I look up to the kitchen door, and it is cracked open.
Audience:
Primary: Male & Female Aged 16 – 24, Psychographic: Belonger, Social Status: Balanced
Secondary: Male & Female Aged 30+, Psychographic: Belonger, Social Status: Balanced
Who is your audience? Be very detailed; age, gender, social status, psychographic etc.
Why would your project appeal to this person?
My product will appeal to both my primary and secondary audience, because it is an entertaining
form of relaxing, it does not require constructive feedback and my audience will likely want to
share it with others who enjoy ‘horror stories’ on the internet. I feel it will also appeal to my
audience because younger people enjoy scary topics, weather it be horror films, or scary stories
online, and they would find these topics as a form of entertainment.

Legal & Ethical Considerations:
Think about any offensive material you will include?
The paranormal topic could be sensitive for some people, as some people believe in it, and
some people don’t. This could therefore cause arguments among those who believe and
don’t believe.
Will you restrict younger people using/accessing it?
Anyone under the age of 16 is not permitted to listen to my story, as it features content for
more mature audiences, and may scare younger audiences.
Will it offend any social groups/religions/ethnicities?
It may offend groups that believe in spiritual presence on earth, and they may view my
product as spreading negativity about spiritual presence, because it is a horror story.
How will you ensure you do not offend anyone?
I will be respectful in my writing, and not judge people on their beliefs in my story.
Are you using characters/names/logos of existing products/IPs?
No, everything from my product is original / free to use material.
Will you product be sufficiently different from existing products to not get sued for copyright
infringement?
My product may be similar to some existing products on the internet, but not as similar to
cause copyright claims to be eligible.
