2. Process I started by creating the
background and scenery in
photoshop making buildings
and a setting. I went for an
old abandoned / dirty look,
as my game is a zombie
survival game, so I thought it
fit the theme best. The
process for making the
buildings was simple, and I
added textures & overlays,
to make the building have
more of a realistic tone, and
add depth to it. I also
implemented errors /
obstacles to my terrain, as
you can see in the bottom
left, as I wanted my game to
also have a challenging
theme.
3. Process
I then started to add a
background that would
blend in and fit well with
my scene. I went for a dark
/ gloomy night atmosphere
to fit the tone of a zombie
apocalypse. I obtained the
backdrop via google, and I
wanted to go for a simple
silhouette of a city. Once I
had implemented the
backdrop, I had finished my
setting / location.
4. Process
After I completed my
background I started
creating characters. The
character you see in the
image is the main
protagonist, and I wanted
to give him an apocalyptic
look / style, by adding a
helmet and body armour.
The characters themselves
were easy to make. I
created them in a separate
photoshop document, to
make sure I would keep
them as a separate layer,
so I could move them
around individually during
the animation process
5. Process
After I created my first
character, I began creating
more, a zombie and a main
antagonist. I also started to
make effects such as fire,
and gun shots, as I was
going to use them during
the animation process.
After all of my characters
and effects were complete,
I then began animation.
The animation process was
somewhat difficult, as I had
made a few errors and it
was hard to change them,
and it took around three
hours to complete it
because of the amount of
frames used.
6. Process
During the final stage, and
once the animation was
complete, I began adding
sound effect, additional
items, and a backing track /
music theme song. I
created a health bar for my
main antagonist to give my
project more of a gameplay
vibe / theme. I added the
sound effects & music
using Sony Vegas editing
software, and it was fairly
easy to do.
