Poster Analysis
1. The focus of this poster is the shark
and the title, ‘JAWS’. The angle of the
shark is effective as it allows its large
jaws to be seen which highlights the
films title. The colours show hints to
the film, for example the fresh red
conveys the colour of blood which is
likely to be spread in a film about a
shark.
This poster is quite simplistic in
the way it has star actors, the title,
a selling point and a billing block.
The image is also simplistic as it
does not include any overlapping.
2. This poster is effective due to its
basic high key set up with added
dark elements to the character’s
face.
Unlike ‘Jaws’ and ‘Baby Driver’ this
poster does not show an idea of
where the film is set as it only has
a white background.
Like ‘Jaws’, this poster included
star actors just above the title of
the film. It also includes a selling
point by showing the awards that
it has won which shows it to be a
good quality film. Furthermore, it
also included the director and
other films that this director has
directed. This again, gives an idea
of how good the film is.
The title on this poster is not as bold
and large as the title of ‘Jaws’. This
suits the delicacy of the look and
narrative of the film.
Unlike ‘Jaws’ they have included the
time of year that the film will be
released. This lets the viewers know
when they can go see the film.
Again, this is quite a simplistic
poster due to there being no
overlapping. However, the colour of
the woman’s lips and eyes
contrasted to the white background
and skin, creates a more intense
and interesting poster which hints at
the themes within the narrative.
3. This poster is a lot more complex
than the other two. It has lots of
different images overlapping each
other to convey the various
characters and the setting of the
film.
Despite there being lots of
characters included, it is obvious
who are the more main characters
due to the size that their portrait
has been made; the male at the
top with the earphone in is shown
to be the key character as he is
almost center top and larger than
the others.
Like the other two posters, the
actors names are included on the
poster. However, there are more
on this one than the other two
which only showed three.
The genre is shown on this poster
by showing some characters holding
guns and by showing police cars in
the distance. This highlights that it
is an action movie. Again this is
shown, by the road being drawn as
if it blurred which gives the
impression that the red car is
speeding away.
It is also interesting that this poster
has been drawn. This element adds
to a comic book feel which again
implies the genre.
