2. Kasabian have gone for the unconventional style of just featuring the bands name on the digipak cover, instead of
also including the album name. A reason for this is because it is there first album so they felt there was no need to
advertise an album name and that Kasabian by itself is enough to attract the audience as it is their debut album. The
band name is positioned at the bottom of the CD cover and they have used a large font size and big bold text style.
This enables the band name to stand out of the cover and make an impression when seeing it that it is an important
album as it is their first so this was necessary. The font style of this album cover has been kept consistent throughout
their albums so it has created a sense of familiarity when seeing the bands name
The colour scheme for this album
cover suits the genre of music the
band produce. Black and white are
typically associated with rock bands.
The black colour represents danger
and violence, this idea alongside the
image produced.
This Kasabian album cover is designed in a
similar style to all of the future ones they have
produced. They like the style of keeping it
simple and looking clean and professional.
Using a two colour scheme commonly on their
albums. This portrays the way of the band, the
physical appearance of the band members
portray that they are laidback cool characters,
the album reflects this perception on the band.
This front cover goes against Goodwin's theory of that the album artwork must include close
ups of the band. Kasabian have decided not to feature on the digipak throughout and used a
graphic image. This could be because the band want people to focus on the quality of their
music as it is their debut album and the bands image shouldn’t influence the success of it
therefore a graphic image is suitable I feel in this situation.
3. This is the spine of the digipak
and features the band name
“Kasabian”. They have kept the
same coloured font and style to
keep it consistent throughout
which looks more professional.
The colour scheme of the back cover is
the same as the front. Black and white
colour scheme across the whole of the
digipak making it simple and easy to look
at for the audience as the colours work
well together.
The track list is the biggest element of the back cover
and is eye catching to the audience because of this. This
is crucial for Kasabian being their debut album they
won't to show off how many songs they have produced
and make sure people remember them.
Here is conventions of a back cover being
followed. As it has a barcode included and then
small writing having information about the cd
which isn’t highly important which is why it is in
such as small font size. Also, the record label for
the band is also shown within this area of the back
cover which is a legal requirement to give credit to
the company that helped developed the CD. This
section has been all grouped together and kept to
a small size as it is information which the audience
wont be highly interested in and isn’t what
Kasabian want people to focus on.
This is the barcode which
enables the sale of the
product.
Album compatibility information
is shown here, highlighting to
their audience there is alterative
ways on how to listen to the
album
4. Legal requirement to include
this information and make
their audience aware of the
terms and conditions.
The same graphic image of the
mysterious figure is shown again on
the CD disk. This allows a running
theme throughout the alum to
develop and make the audience
wonder who this is. Not only that, a
closer shot of the figures face is
used and gives a closer look to the
audience on who it is.
Colour scheme has then been
applied to the disk and kept
consistent throughout which I
feel looks professional.
The logos of the record company and
distributing company is shown here to
give them the credit deserved as
these helped Kasabian make the
album happen.
