lowlands of Luzon.
B. Performance standard The learner performs music of the lowlands with appropriate pitch, rhythm, expression and style.

Objectives
The learner…
• explores ways of producing sounds on a variety
of sources that is similar to the instruments
being studied. (MU7LU-Ib-f-4)
• improvises simple rhythmic/melodic
accompaniments to selected music from the
lowlands of Luzon. (MU7LU-Ic-f-5)
• performs instruments / improvised instruments
from Luzon lowlands. (MU7LUIg-h-6 )
The learner…
• creates appropriate movements or gestures to
accompany the music selections of the lowlands
of Luzon.

• provides harmonic accompaniments to selected

A. Reviewing Previous
Lesson or Presenting New
Lessons
Listening Activity: Students
will listen to different sounds
of the following instruments:
Guitar , Banduria ,Trumpet ,
Tuba , Snare drum , Cymbals
,
Bamboo Organ and
Angklung
• What can you
say about the
sounds of the
instruments?
• What did you
feel while
Play the game: "Guess the
Instruments”
Let the learners listen to the
recorded or actual sound of
instruments. Ask the students to
name the particular instrument
that will be played.
The learners may answer by
writing the name of the
instrument on the board. The
first one who guesses it correctly
gets a point. The student who
earns the most number of points
wins the game.
The teacher will let
the students watch a
video presentation
about the example of
instrumental
ensemble, and
afterwards will ask
the following
questions:
What can you say
about the video clips?
The students will get a
picture and try to match
it with the pictures of the
different ensemble such
as Bamboo Organ,
Angklung
Ensemble and Himig
Pangkat Kawayan.

B. Establishing A Purpose For The
Lesson
Play a game about the
different instrumental music
used on different occasions
and seasons in the
Philippines by arranging the
jumbled letters on the
board. Make the students
realize that each
region/place in our country
has its own set of
instrumental music.
Have a picture
parade. Present
pictures showing
different instrumental
ensemble from
Bamboo Organ,
Angklung Ensemble
and Himig Pangkat
Kawayan. Learners
analyze the musical
elements if it is string,
drums and wind
instruments.

Lesson
The teacher will show
different pictures of the
following musical
instruments:
• Violin
• Laud
• Tuba
• Cymbals
• Bass Drum
• Flute
• Bamboo Organ
• Angklung
Play an example of
instrumental
ensemblean (Himig
Pangkat Kawayan,
Bamboo Organ, and
Angklung Ensemble).
Let the students
analyze their tone
color through
listening.

the similarities of their
features.

pattern for each Ensemble.

The teacher will ask the students
about the musical characteristics
of music from the ensemble of
Rondalla,Brass and Musikong
Bumbong.
The students will give
their opinions regarding
the different musical
styles of the ensembles
being studied.

improvised instruments with
their chosen music from the
lowlands of Luzon.

ways in producing sounds

Paste some pictures of wind
and brass instruments. Try to
compare and contrast
their similarities and differences.
Students will search
and note down
provinces or
places that still use
Bamboo
Instruments.
Students will listen to
some examples of
rondalla. Write words
that best describe the
rondalla music.

found in their surroundings.
Bring it in the class.

Content standard The learner demonstrates understanding of the musical characteristics of representative music from the lowlands of Luzon. B. Performance standard The learner performs music of the lowlands with appropriate pitch, rhythm, expression and style. C. Learning competencies/ Objectives The learner… • explores ways of producing sounds on a variety of sources that is similar to the instruments being studied. (MU7LU-Ib-f-4) • improvises simple rhythmic/melodic accompaniments to selected music from the lowlands of Luzon. (MU7LU-Ic-f-5) • performs instruments / improvised instruments from Luzon lowlands. (MU7LUIg-h-6 ) The learner… • creates appropriate movements or gestures to accompany the music selections of the lowlands of Luzon. (MU7LU-Ia-h-8) • provides harmonic accompaniments to selected music of the lowlands of Luzon (MU7LU-Id-9) • evaluates music and music performances applying knowledge of musical elements and styles. PROCEDURES A. Reviewing Previous Lesson or Presenting New Lessons Listening Activity: Students will listen to different sounds of the following instruments: Guitar , Banduria ,Trumpet , Tuba , Snare drum , Cymbals , Bamboo Organ and Angklung • What can you say about the sounds of the instruments? • What did you feel while Play the game: "Guess the Instruments” Let the learners listen to the recorded or actual sound of instruments. Ask the students to name the particular instrument that will be played. The learners may answer by writing the name of the instrument on the board. The first one who guesses it correctly gets a point. The student who earns the most number of points wins the game. The teacher will let the students watch a video presentation about the example of instrumental ensemble, and afterwards will ask the following questions: What can you say about the video clips? The students will get a picture and try to match it with the pictures of the different ensemble such as Bamboo Organ, Angklung Ensemble and Himig Pangkat Kawayan.

Establishing A Purpose For The Lesson Play a game about the different instrumental music used on different occasions and seasons in the Philippines by arranging the jumbled letters on the board. Make the students realize that each region/place in our country has its own set of instrumental music. Have a picture parade. Present pictures showing different instrumental ensemble from Bamboo Organ, Angklung Ensemble and Himig Pangkat Kawayan. Learners analyze the musical elements if it is string, drums and wind instruments. C. Presenting Examples / Instances of the New Lesson The teacher will show different pictures of the following musical instruments: • Violin • Laud • Tuba • Cymbals • Bass Drum • Flute • Bamboo Organ • Angklung Play an example of instrumental ensemblean (Himig Pangkat Kawayan, Bamboo Organ, and Angklung Ensemble). Let the students analyze their tone color through listening. (5 minutes)

Discussing New Concepts and Practicing New Skills # 1 The teacher will discuss the Instrumental Music : • Rondalla • Brass Band Musikang Bumbong (10 minutes) The teacher will discuss what is Bamboo Organ, Angklung Ensemble, and Himig Pangkat Kawayan while showing videos for each ensemble. The students will reflect on the similarities of their features. E. Discussing New Concepts and Practicing New Skills # 2 F. Developing Mastery (Leads To Formative Assessment 3) Identify the different instruments being used in Musikong Bumbong and Brass Band. Group Activity Choose one of the ensemble being studied and interpret this in dancing. G. Finding Practical Applications of the Concepts And Skills In Daily Living Group Activity: The students will give their ideas regarding the rhythmic pattern for each Ensemble. After the group presentation, process the response by discussing the importance of music to their daily living.

Making Generalizations and Abstractions About the Lesson The teacher will ask the students about the musical characteristics of music from the ensemble of Rondalla,Brass and Musikong Bumbong. The students will give their opinions regarding the different musical styles of the ensembles being studied. I. Evaluating Learning Let the students use their improvised instruments with their chosen music from the lowlands of Luzon. (Criteriacorrect expression and style, accurate rhythm, Appropriateness of accompaniment and movements, correct pitch, sensitive phrasing, welldefined dynamic level and creativity. 1-5 ) Complete the table showing the musical elements used in the selection. – Tempo, Rhythm, Melody, Form, and Timbre (see the attachment) J. Additional Activities for Application and Remediation Students will explore more ways in producing sounds from a variety of sources. Paste some pictures of wind and brass instruments. Try to compare and contrast their similarities and differences. Students will search and note down provinces or places that still use Bamboo Instruments. Students will listen to some examples of rondalla. Write words that best describe the rondalla music. K. Assignment The students will create an improvised instruments found in their surroundings. Bring it in the class. Listen to the music / sound of Bamboo Organ, Angklung Ensemble and Himig Pangkat Kawayan. Let the student practice for their upcoming performances. Read and study the music of Cordillera, Mindoro, Palawan, and Visayas. V. REMARKS VI.REFLECTION
