Working Title:
Tour Advert for a popular musician (including Poster, Merchandise, Social Media and Website)
Audience:
For my product, I did some research to fond put whom would be most interested in my product.
When analysing my results, I discovered teenage girls between the ages of 15-20 were most
interested in my creation. I conducted this survey via survey monkey, receiving over 100 results,
helping me further with my investigation. Upon analysing my results, it was noted that girls were
willing to purchase any form of merchandise when shopping online or at the concert of their
favourite artist. It is obvious by looking at the results that people are willing to spend any amount
on purchasing merchandise, thus placing them in the ABC1 section of the NRS Social Grades,
meaning they are able to afford all of these items or work for them themselves. It is also clear
within my research that people rely on tour posters/updates online regarding tour information, thus
giving me perfect leeway to be able to create a poster myself showing all information my audience
expect when looking at a tour poster. I feel my final product appeals to my audience as the people
asked to complete the survey were those who went to concerts themselves, there was a broad
range of people who go to several concerts from the same tour and others who only go to one so I
had a range of different types of fans also, especially age range, not only did I receive results from
people within the 15-20 age range, I also had people answer who were over 30, which is a good
way of being able to develop the different styles of merchandise and posters based on what they
prefer seeing/purchasing.
Rationale
This year, I have definitely expanded my knowledge further on Photoshop. I now understand how
to give the text a better effect by using the warp technique, bevel and emboss, gradient, skew and
distort. These techniques definitely give an extra bit of interest into the text when being viewed by
the public. I also learnt how to inverse images when wanting to cut out a certain area of the image
and delete the remainder. The inverse tool lets you cut out a shape within an image that you have
saved to Photoshop, once you have done this, it highlights the remainder of the image to be
deleted, thus meaning only the cut-out section is left for you to be able to move about the page
and place within a poster. These skills I have acquired will help when it comes to production at the
end of term as the different effects I discovered for the text will hopefully mean I can make the text
on my poster or merchandise stand out and attract not only the audience I am aiming for but
others also. Earlier this year I created a magazine featuring different text examples, these will help
with how I will create my poster with the different fonts within it, making it stand out.
Project Concept
The concept for my project is to create a video advertising a tour for a popular artist within the
music industry. My aim is to include pictures, videos and any other original footage of mine when
creating the video and attempt to tell a story within the video. Upon creating the advert, I will also
crate promotional/tour posters that would be hung up around popular cities and towns around the
world that include tour dates, venues, the name of the artist and any other information I gather
within my research. I will attempt to create two posters, one that has all of the tour dates on,
another that is city/venue specific, showing the artist, date, venue, support act etc. Alongside all of
this, I will also create tour merchandise that can be sold as tour exclusives or on a website that I
will hopefully get to create if I have time at the end of all my other mini projects. In order to achieve
all of this, I will have to stick to the schedule I created at the bottom of this page to make sure I am
keeping up to date within my production for this final term.
Evaluation
When evaluating my work, I plan to gather existing products that are similar to my own and show
the differences between each and how mine could be improved if need be upon completion. I will
also gather the work done previously this year, showing the difference between my skills then and
now, explaining how I have improved in certain areas within each production throughout the year.

Schedule
WEEK OVERALL PLAN SPECIFIC TASKS
1 Initial Response +
Proposal
Complete initial plans PowerPoint, including mood
boards with an analysis. Include, also, our first
thoughts regarding the project, including any skills
we may have already and what else we would like
to learn when conducting the experiments. Create
three mind maps with three separate ideas as to
what we would like to create, plus a draft idea of
what we want to do for our final major project
(FMP).
2 Product + Audience
Research
Create a research PowerPoint and a survey.
Include survey results plus two interviews; all
complete with an analysis. Create a bibliography
with the interviewees names and date interview
was conducted. Include research of existing
products that are similar to the one we are hoping
to create ourselves.
3 Production
Experiments
Create a PowerPoint inserting different designs
showing examples of how we could have our
FMPs. Explain different techniques used to create
the designs, making a mini instruction guide for
each design. Have different examples of posters,
typography, editing material, video angles and
editing techniques etc. Make sure to use plenty of
different examples.
4 Pre-Production and
Planning
Design examples of the work I will produce at the
end of term. Make sure it isn’t an exact replica of
what I’m wanting to create, design posters, t-shirts
etc. for something unrelated to what I’m wanting to
create myself. Create quick drafts of what we hope
to create also, using different picture examples to
see what works best on which aspect of the project.
5 Production – Week
1
Poster
Begin with the poster, gathering the different
examples created previously and choosing our
favourite to use for my poster and begin designing
it. Use the same techniques used when doing the
Production Experiments.
6 Production – Week
2
Poster cont. &
merchandise
Finish any extra poster work needed that wasn’t
completed the previous week. Look at what
merchandise is most popular amongst my audience
and design merchandise based on results
gathered. Use the websites I used to create the
draft merchandise and, again, choose pictures that
look best on that particular piece of merchandise.
7 Production - Week 3
Merchandise cont.
& tour video
Continue designing the merchandise, possibly go
up to art students and have a real t-shirt printed to
be able to show what it would look like in person.
Mid-week, begin with the tour video. Gather
different pieces of footage from concerts (all my
own material) and create a tour advert to be shown
on TV for an up and coming tour with a popular
artist.

8 Production – Week
4
Video cont. (maybe
create a website
and/or social media
if enough time at the
end)
Continue with tour advert, editing out shots that I
don’t need and dubbing over royalty free music
where necessary. Make sure to include the poster
designed the previous weeks at the end that will
include dates, support acts, venues etc. If time at
the end of the week, create a website for the artist
chosen and social media pages regarding
information on any tour news/updates for the artist.
9 Evaluation Gather together all of the different products
designed the last few weeks and gather examples
of already existing products to compare with my
own. Write detailed descriptions for each slide on
the PowerPoint and even compare the different
draft products we made at the beginning of the term
and compare them to the final products created at
the end to show the difference of skills and how I
have improved on my editing skills via Photoshop,
designing merchandise, premier etc.
10 Development +
Contingency
Create a PowerPoint for a development diary to
show what we did each week before, during and
after production. Include screenshots from each
presentation created and a brief description for
each explaining how I created posters, gathered
research and designed everything, such as
merchandise, tour ad etc.
Bibliography
At least 7 sources total and should include books, videos/films/video games, magazines and
newspaper articles etc.
