2. Research
The strengths for the research were that they are very important as thatâs where all your
ideas start as you have all your ideas and then you have to expand on them to make them
better and the way I made my research the way it is I went onto the internet and searched
magazines to see the layout and because I already knew what i wanted my magazine to
look like I googled fashion to see the layout for the cover and the double page spread. Also
because I wanted my product to stand out I search magazines that popped with colour and
found a magazine from Voir of ASAP Rocky. I really liked the way this magazine looked like
as it had vibrant, neon colours around him and what he was wearing so it made me think of
what I could make mine like. I feel that made me know or sure what I wanted to create for
my product so from there I kept googling, which led me to Issuu which is full of magazines
where I found the same magazine of ASAP Rocky, which it also had a double page spread to
it as well so I got to see what that magazine looked like inside as well which helped with
when it came to doing the double page spread. The weaknesses for research is that if you
werenât sure on what you wanted to do for your product then it might have been hard to
think of what you wanted to. Another weakness could be that you might not search for
other themes to create for example I chose fashion where I could of chose music, games
etc. for the magazine so there might have been a better option for them if they couldnât
think of a lot of things to do fir the research. I personally think that there's not a lot that I
would improve on as I feel that i have done most of the ideas I came up with for my
products.
3. Planning
The strengths for the planning is again like the research I think its very important
as thatâs where you have all your ideas and what youâre wanting to do for your
final piece. What I did first was the mind map I feel like these help a lot because it
makes you think outside the box of ideas that you might of not thought you were
going to either do or make so I liked that we made mind maps and we made two
as the first one was three ideas that we could possibly use then with the next one
thatâs where you pick the one youâre wanting to do for your final piece so I liked
that you could do that first to know for sure what youâre creating. The next thing
was the mood board which is probably my favourite planning to do as you can
experiment with your ideas to show people what ideas you have. So with mine I
wanted bright, vibrant colours with neon shadows and the right font for the title
so going onto the internet to get the ideas youâre wanting to make help a lot.
Another thing is when you forget or think of more ideas you can go back to either
add more or to recap your ideas you thought of. The last thing is having a
schedule of when to complete all the work in time which is helpful so you have a
target to meet which is helpful for many people as some people work slower than
others so knowing you have a time for everything to be done it makes you want to
get it all done and extra time to go back to make sure everything is perfect and up
to your standards. The weaknesses for the planning is thatâŚâŚ
4. Time Management
⢠The strengths with time management makes you plan the steps you are going to do, so
you can get all your work completed before the date its all meant to be in for. This is
good for people who arenât very good at getting things done in time so by them having
a time to complete everything it will make them think about how they will get there
work to its best standards but still having it done before the scheduled date. I
personally think that the PowerPoint that college provide for us to see what PowerPoint
or stage we should be at for that specific week or day helps me and everyone know
how long to be on one slide at a time or PowerPoint so its all completed. The
weaknesses for time management is personally I feel that we donât have that long to do
everything in the time we are meant to. I think this because having to do the product
weâre wanting to make and make look as good as possible while screenshotting and
then writing about it at the same time is a lot when youâre wanting everything to look
perfect and the way youâre actually wanting it to look like is a lot so I wish we had more
time and by having more time I think more people might have thought more of a
creative product to make. Because I wanted to make my product the best it could be to
my standards I took longer and actually went over the time that was meant to be in for,
so I'm a little behind however I feel that it looks unique and colourful which is what I
wanted so Iâm happy I took a little longer with it.
5. Technical Qualities
I think that people will want to buy my product because linking with the audience
appeal I feel that it attracts teenagers attention because most teenagers now a
days like that look of the duplicated look to make your eyes go weird when
looking
at it, so because I have done that the teenagers that are interested/like that look
when theyâre in the shops and see my product their eyes with be appealed to the
magazine because of the effect I have put on when creating the magazine. With
the front cover I wanted it to be minimalist because of the colourful background,
I wanted that to pop the most so that meant I couldnât have a lot of front on the
cover so it doesnât give a lot of information. However in the centre of the page
where it says âAmy Foster Exclusive interviewâ whoever is interested in the model
on the front cover will want to find out more about the model and what she has
to say in the interview which will make them want to buy my product.
6. Aesthetic Qualities
Im very happy with my work that I have created, i love the way it looks itâs
what I was wanting/thinking when planning what I wanted to do. I feel that
it actually went better than I thought, I personally think teenagers around my
age up to 25 will like it more. I know that anyone older who isnât into music
nowadays might not like it however itâs for the younger age as thats my target
audience I targeted it at. So I feel that Iâve reached that and thats all I cared
about. I especially like the front cover background, I got them from a trip we
went on and I placed them down close together to make it look like one picture
and then duplicated it for the entire background. Out of both my products I
prefer the double page spread because I like the colours scheme and the layout
of it all. I also like how I added ânormalâ pictures of the model so the audience
can see her better without the effect thats on the others. I also like how I
made it mostly blue and pink as most of the background before editing it was
blue then adding the pink to it as well because the model âAmyâ had pink hair
in it. Overall I really like the way itâs turned out and wouldnât want to change
anything about it personally.
7. Audience Appeal
With the audience appeal I feel that I reached my
audience target because I wanted teenagers to
connect to, I wanted this because I feel that most
teenagers now listen to rap music and like the look
of the way Iâve made my magazine with the
fuzziness which makes your eyes go weird teenagers
donât mind that where if my target audience was
adults ages 30- upwards they might not like that
look as it hurts their eyes and might find it
immature as they like mature and calm/minimalist
look.
I also think that with the weird look of it looking
likes sheâs got multiple heads it also makes you look
at it longer which is making people get interested in
it than just seeing a girl as the cover. It makes you
want to look deeper in the
magazine to see what its actually meant to be, to
then find out that itâs just a girl with the duplicated
look to it.
