Rationality refers to using reason and logic to form judgments and understand the world. It allows people to align their thoughts and actions with facts. Being rational can help bring calmness to the mind and provide a framework for achieving goals. However, rationality is not always the best approach and may not help in contexts like forming relationships where emotions play a more important role. While rational thinking can be a useful process, totally relying on it could lead to self-delusion. Overall, rationality is an important tool for pursuing the right things in life, but it needs to be balanced and not seen as the only way of achieving goals or understanding the world.
1. RATIONALITY:
Definition: “Rationality is the condition/position or mode of being rational.”
Rationality is something which appeals to our senses, cognitive basis; logically, also refers to
reason and understandings.
Example: man is considered to be a rational animal; that more rely on reason than on anything.
Rationality as an important tool:
Rationality is considered to man’s greatest strength, as it appeals to anyone’s senses; align the
sequence of thoughts, actions, fragmented behavior into facts and with the real world. It more
bring the calmness of mind, as our mind doesn’t deviate once we think rationally.
Within rationality there comes the rational frame of an individual; whenever a person needs
something good in life, they can have an access to it through rational frame; freedom power,
success.
Examples of rationality:
1. Overthinking: by being rational and involving rationality in our every aspect of life so
being overthinking processes our cognition. Overthinking is one of the ways to reach
the level of rationality. None can be rational without thinking. Rationality comes from
mind, being rational is the key for arguments, experiments, experience appealing our
senses, and the cognitive ability into more logical way.
2. Getting laid: (being surrounded by a girl) rationality won’t help an individual in every
aspect of life. Some people prefer sentiments over rationality, mostly “girls” a man
fixed to his rational thought and actions can’t move with a girl in a society as girls
tends to have a different perspective of look life in general with more an emotional
touch to it.
3. Self-delusion: totally relying on rationality, cognitive ability, logical statement, rational
frame would take a person to self-delusion. Some of the goals can’t be achieved when
there is no such enrolment of self-delusion. Whatever the criteria is; whether being
rational or irrational but one can adopt an alternative way of achieving goal in life.
Rational thinking as a step to process:
In our daily life we tend to work put our input (certain efforts) and go through a process (routine)
in order to achieve an output (desired outcome). Image 1.1shows the process.
Image 1.1
2. Through our experience, efforts, rational thought and actions which go under a process gives us
an outcome which sounds and plausibly appeals to our senses.
The Rational Critique of Rationality:
Rationality is considered to be our (modern generation) cup of tea, as our ancestors more
believed in angels, ghosts, myths but that never proved to be right, since there came a lot of
invention of science and developed/advanced technologies so the rise of rationality in the life’s
of people have taken a drastic place; which not only changed the mindset of people but also the
day to day life within it. Since the controversies related to the advanced technology and science
appears to be on the front page of newspapers and this indicates that we have stepped into a new
era of rationality.
CONCLUSION:
Rationality matters because it is the act of pursuing the goal is getting right things in life.
Rationality proves to improve one’s life, as it is considered to be a tool in actualizing the values
of living well.
