Identity map: all known solutions to the identity problem avturchin
“Identity” here refers to the question “will my copy be me, and if yes, on which conditions?” It results in several paradoxes which I will not repeat here, hoping that they are known to the reader.
Identity is one of the most complex problems, like safe AI or aging. It only appears be simple. It is complex because it has to answer the question: “Who is who?” in the universe, that is to create a trajectory in the space of all possible minds, connecting identical or continuous observer-moments. But such a trajectory would be of the same complexity as all space of possible minds, and that is very complex.
There have been several attempts to dismiss the complexity of the identity problem, like open individualism (I am everybody) or zero-individualism (I exist only now). But they do not prevent the existence of “practical identity” which I use when planning my tomorrow or when I am afraid of future pain.
The identity problem is also very important. If we (or AI) arrive at an incorrect solution, we will end up being replaced by p-zombies or just copies-which-are-not-me during a “great uploading”. It will be a very subtle end of the world.
This report supports, inspires ,and attracts you nearer to your maker. It carries us to an acknowledgment of what our identity is, and of whom would we like to be; the one that is satisfying unto the most High GOD. This report assists me with showing some cool stuff and I believe you will as well.
Human body is the battlefield where this perpetual inner war is going on between the gods representing the spiritual or restraining forces and the demons representing the material bound natural inclinations. The seeker of Truth has to win this war if he has to regain his unity with the Universal Reality.
An overview of the positive role of anxiety, and how the work of modern European philosophers can inform a unique approach to helping people face up to, and therefore work through, their fear of fear
“Gut Feeling” ,or an “ inner voice” or “Sixth sense” Intuition is essentially the brain on autopilot, performing the actions of processing information without the person's conscious awareness that it is operating. Or
A brain process that gives people the ability to make decisions without the use of analytical reasoning. or
As the influence of "nonconscious emotional information" from the body or the brain, such as an instinctual feeling or sensation.
It is non conscious thinking.
The automatic information processing that underlies intuition called "highway hypnosis.“ can be experienced daily
You drive for miles without a conscious thought about driving the car.
Pedestrians walking down a street lost in thought without awareness of the processes that got them there.
Operates also in complex decision-making—often enough, without due credit.

: time for the EU to meet global challengeskonnolat
What will the world look like in 2025? What are the possible future disruptive global challenges? And how can the EU position itself to take an active role in shaping a response to them? This publication offers possible answers to these questions through the identification of three main challenges and potential responses to these, and concludes that the main policy issues to be considered at EU level are: policy alignment towards sustainability; social diversity and the use of ICT for citizen empowerment; and the need to embed capabilities for anticipating future challenges to enable these to become new opportunities. The methodology applied combines widely accepted quantified trends by 2025 and beyond with the opinions of experts and policy makers on the likely consequences of these trends and wild cards. A multicriteria quantitative analysis (Robust Portfolio Modelling) was used as a novel element to prioritise issues as a basis for discussion with selected experts and policy makers. This work has been undertaken in close cooperation with the Bureau of European Policy Advisors of the European Commission.
Slides from the session "Why Usability Should Never Come First and the Importance of Front-End Design" by David Rondeau and Traci Lepore from InContext Enterprises.
At the core of all usability is a design—the one being used by your customer. The blueprint or foundation of that design is found in the interaction design. Over the years, I’ve worked with many people, from clients to co-workers, who are involved in design but who don’t consider themselves “designers”. They usually have good design instincts, but don’t have a “design” background—and they are always asking me how they can become better “designers”.In this presentation, I distill the concepts of interaction design down to just the basics, to focus on what is most useful for non-interaction designers. Using the design process as a framework, I’ll provide an overview of the basic building blocks, design principles, and underlying structure of interaction design, and illustrate them using familiar real-world examples. Through these basic elements, I’ll discuss how design decisions are made, how to evaluate them at each level of an interaction design, and more importantly, what makes a “good” design decision. I will also discuss one or two emerging trends in interaction design and show how these basic elements can also be used to understand and evaluate them. This presentation won’t turn everyone into an interaction designer, but it will give you an understanding of the basics, and hopefully move you further along the road to being a better “designer”.
Individuals often do not know their own mind. Most thinking is automatic and frequently unchecked. During waking hours, the separation between mind and consciousness is not often discernible. The character of consciousness makes the mind both simple and complex at the same time. Simple in that if a person has awareness, they are in charge of what they are thinking, feeling, and doing. Complex in that seeming awareness is often compromised, clouded by an unconscious (subconscious) mind.
The Noetic perspective (from Greek: noetikos- mental; nous- mind) identifies the [human] mind as the nexus of the future evolution of humanity. At present, human evolution is a mental process rather than biological or technological process.
The Noetic model describes mind as a relation generating complex system arising as a product of biological evolution and manifesting certain defining characteristics such as systemic closure, self reference, plasticity, etc. This model aims to integrate a systemic view with the mental constructs of the subjective plane. According to the Noetic model, human identity is a dynamic constructive process that brings forth the human observer as the subject of its perceptive and mental states. This process is identified as mind. Images and narratives are the elements encompassing the experiential and mental aspects of the identity process as they appear to the human observer.
The idea of mind as the theater of evolutionary processes is further explored: Mind as a complex system can essentially be disassociated from the historical conditions of its emergence; therefore it is virtually unbound in its evolutionary potential. This has deep implications on the understanding of human nature and the human condition. Finally, the ideas of openness and freedom beyond utility are proposed as futuristic directives of consciously guided evolution of mind.
