2. MIND MAP
FMP Ideas
Magazine: I could create a magazine around a certain
topic e.g. photography, film, art. I would want to
choose a topic/theme that is relevant at the moment
and so that people would be more likely to want to
read it. This could lead me to finding various already
existing products that I can use as inspiration. I
would choose to do photography out of the three
since it’s what I know the most about /what I’m most
passionate about. I would theme the photography
magazine around nature since it is already something
I’ve done before. I think that the sort of audience I
would most like to appeal to would be teenagers (16-
20). I would want the magazine to have bright
colours, so that it would stand out to my audience.
Graphics Portfolio: I could create a graphics
portfolio around a certain topic/theme e.g.
photography, art. I would want to choose a
topic/theme that is relevant at the moment and so
that people would be more likely to want to look
at it. I could look into already existing products
and use them as a sort of inspiration. I would
choose to a combination of both art and
photography since I think that they would work
well together and I think I’d be able to create a lot
of photos to use/edit. I would theme the graphics
portfolio around cities and landscapes since it is
already something I’ve done before and I think it
Posters: I could create a range of
posters around a certain
topic/theme e.g. art, photography. I
think that the posters I’d create
would be a way of advertising
around the topic/theme I’ve
chosen. I could research into
already existing products that are
used to advertise various other
products. I would choose a topic
that is relevant at the moment and
that people would want to look at. I
think that I’d choose art and/or
music because people can be quite
passionate about it and it’s
pleasing to look at. This will also be
good because I can create a range
of ideas just from these two
themes. I would also choose this
because it’s something I’ve already
done before. I think that the sort of
audience I would want to attract
3. Final Idea (Graphics Portfolio)
I could create a graphics portfolio around a
certain topic/theme e.g. photography, art. I
would want to choose a topic/theme that is
relevant at the moment and so that people
would be more likely to want to look at it. I
could do some research online to see what
kinds of products already exist and see if I can
take any inspiration from them and into my
own product. I would choose to a combination
of both art and photography since I think that
they would work well together and I think I’d
be able to create a lot of photos to use/edit. I
would theme the graphics portfolio around
cities and landscapes since it is already
something I’ve done before and I think it
would work well in a graphics portfolio.
I would want this graphics portfolio to include
both the before and after photos, before I
edited them and then after I edited them. I
would do this so that you would be able to see
the difference straight away. I wouldn’t want to
just include edits and photos of the same
thing. I will make sure that they are all linked
with the same sort of theme but still different,
so it wouldn’t look repetitive. I think that I will
space out the variety of photos I’ve taken and
edits I’ve made and spread them out into
different sections, so it looks more
professional and neat, rather than just having
them all crammed onto a few pages. When
taking my photos I must be sure to keep in
I would separate the photos I’ve taken
and edits I’ve made into different
sections, depending on what the
theme/topic is. This is good because
it will make the whole portfolio look
neat and not look as if I have just
crammed everything onto one page. I
plan on doing more than just one
theme for the graphics portfolio since
it will begin to look repetitive and
boring. Although if I do separate
themes then it will it may not look as
good. I still plan to do separate
themes for my portfolio but I will sure
to connect them all by one theme.
This will make the portfolio look less
repetitive but also won’t look as if I’ve
chosen random themes. I think these
ideas will work with my final product
because it allows me to create various
products from the various images I
take as well as the edits that I also
make. When thinking about the sort of
audience I want my product to attract,
I would want my audience to be older
4. MIND MAP
I plan on using a variety of different colours since I won’t
only be taking photos I will be editing them as well.
Depending on the themes I decide to choose, I plan to have
a variety of different colours for each of my chosen themes.
I think that this is a good idea because it won’t make the
whole graphics portfolio look plain and repetitive. I think
that a variety of colours will help to attract my intended
audience and will make it look pleasing to the eye. I would
look into existing products, such as Portfolios and/or
posters, to get an idea as to how to create a good layout as
well as an idea as to what colours and effects I could use.
When thinking about different themes for my graphics portfolio, I think that I
will do 2-3 in total, so I will a good range of different photos to use/to edit. I
plan for one of the themes to be of landscapes/cities. I think that this is a good
idea for a theme because I’m able to experiment with different colours and
lighting. Another theme will be nature since it is something I’ve done before
and there are a lot of possibilities for what I can take photos of/what I can edit.
When thinking about different colour schemes for my product, I would want to
try and use bright/vibrant colours. This is because I think this will attract the
most attention from my audience. In order to create a product that will appeal
well to my audience, I will do research into already existing products. I will do
this because it will allow me to see how other products have used certain
colours and/or edited their various photos into a Portfolio. I would apply the
ideas of colour schemes into my posters and my Portfolio. I will do this
Final Idea (Graphics Portfolio)
5. Final Idea (Posters)
I could create a range of posters around a certain topic/theme e.g. art,
photography. I think that the posters I’d create would be a way of advertising
around the topic/theme I’ve chosen. I would choose a topic that is relevant at the
moment and that people would want to look at. I think that I’d choose art and/or
music because people can be quite passionate about it and it’s pleasing to look
at. This will also be good because I can create a range of ideas just from these
two themes. I would also choose this because it’s something I’ve already done
before. I must make sure that when creating my posters I keep in mind what
audience I want my product to attract. I decided that a good age range would be
teenagers/adults (around 16-25). This is because I think that this age range will
be the most attracted to my product because photography and graphics are quite
a well known hobby. A lot of people (particularly adults) have jobs within the two.
In order to create these products I would use software such as ‘Photoshop’ in
order to use various effects as well as tools to help create a good product.
When making these posters I would want to focus on the advertising aspect. This
is because the posters will be made as a form of advertisement for my
‘company’. I plan to make 2-3 different posters, each with different
colours/images than the others. I think that each poster should be a different
theme e.g. if I was doing the theme of film, I would centre it around a certain
film that I enjoy or is popular at the moment. I would also choose another theme
that I enjoy and/or that others would enjoy as well. The posters could also be
linked to another product that I will be making, this being my Graphics Portfolio.
Creating these posters would require me to use software that has various
colours/effects to use. I would use Photoshop in order to create the posters and
add colour. I would try and use a different kind of software in order to edit my
photos and add effects to them. By researching into already existing products, I
would be able to see how they’re presented in terms of colour as well as the

8. MOOD BOARD ANALYSIS
Is there any repetition in the images you have collected?
Repeated colours/images styles/fonts/tone/mood
Yes, there are bits of repetition I found when researching. I found that
the colours and style were all quite similar. I think collecting a range of
images is good because I’m able to see what colours look good and
work well together as well as layouts. I like the different fonts some
images had and I plan to use the same sort of font in my own product
(cursive font). I think that a sort of cursive font is good to use because
it looks creative and interesting rather than just having simple and
boring text. The key features I would want to include in my own
product from the already existing products is the kinds of layouts used
to create the product as well as the various colour schemes used. I
would do this because it will allow me to see what would work best
with what. E.g. what colours would work best for each image(photo)
that I’ve taken.
How will your mood board influence your final product?
My mood board will influence my final product because I will use them
as inspiration to create my Graphics Portfolio. Although there are a lot
of different varieties of products I’ve found images for, I think that
taking inspiration from more than just one image will help me to create
a variety of different ideas (e.g. themes, colours…) this will also allow
me to create a product that will attract my intended audience.
9. Current Idea
Concept I plan to create three products in total. One being a Graphics Portfolio, full of my
photos and I’ve collected and then edited. The Portfolio will be based on three
different themes. The second being a range of posters (2-3) that have similar themes
to the Portfolio. Each of the three posters having it’s own theme. The final being a
magazine this one, also, having it’s own theme. I plan to have both the posters and
the magazine as a sort of advertisement for the Graphics Portfolio. I will apply my
mood board into final product by including similar colours seen in other products for
example red and black. I will also apply the same sort of layouts from the already
existing products I found online e.g. the way the text and images are presented. I
will do this because it help my product to look as professional as possible as well as
it appealing to my audience through my choice of colours and images I’ve taken.
Type of
products
you would
make
1) Graphics Portfolio – presenting any images I’ve taken as well as any edits I’ve
made to said images and/or any other photos.
2) Posters – creating three in total and will be used as a way to advertise another
product that I am making as well.
3) Magazine – used as a way to advertise another product that I am making as well.
What you
will need to
make them
I will mainly just need my phone, where I will be taking the photos I’ll be using as
well as using an app to edit the photos. I must also make sure that I have access to a
computer so I can put them all together on one PowerPoint. I may also need
additional software if I need to re-edit or edit any other photos. I can do this using
Photoshop.
Audience My intended audience is for teenagers/young adults because I think that this sort of
age range will be the most interested in my various products. My secondary audience
would be adults because I think that a lot of people from this age range do this as a
hobby as well as doing it professionally. When thinking about my gender as well as
social status I don’t want to restrict anyone from viewing my product, which is why I
will make sure that my product doesn’t include any offensive material such as slogan
10. CHOICES
Discounted ideas Reasons for not choosing
this project
Magazine – the magazine would have been a
way to advertise my main product, which is my
Graphics Portfolio, and also talk about related
themes such a Photography. I also would have
included a step by step explanation as to how I
edited my photos. I would have included the
photos I have taken in my magazine as well. I
would include examples or various images that
I had edited as well as including the original
image to show a before and after of the image.
I chose not to do this because I already decided
to create posters, which would also be used as
a way to advertise my main product. Another
reason for choosing not to do this is because
create more than just 2-3 products will mean
that I will have limited time to work on my main
product, which is my Portfolio. Although
creating this kind of product wouldn’t take
much skill to make (by using Photoshop) I think
that creating posters would make the magazine
look repetitive and unoriginal since they will
include similar things e.g. colours, text.
