Working Title:
What is it called? This can change if you think of something better later
Graphics Portfolio
Product’s Purpose:
What is the product’s purpose (entertain/educate etc.) and how will you achieve this?
(Poster) The purpose of this product is to advertise my main product, which is my Graphics Portfolio. The
purpose of my Graphics Portfolio is to show off the various photos I’ve taken as well as any edits I’ve
made of said photos.
Genre:
I plan to create three products in total. One being a Graphics Portfolio, full of my photos and I’ve collected
and then edited. The Portfolio will be based on three different themes. The second being a range of
posters (2-3) that have similar themes to the Portfolio. Each of the three posters having its own theme.
The final being a magazine this one, also, having its own theme. I plan to have both the posters and the
magazine as a sort of advertisement for the Graphics Portfolio. What sort of product is it
Content
What is your product about? Discuss what you would put in it (be specific). Does it have a
story? If so, discuss it here
For the Graphics Portfolio, I would specifically include all the photos I’ve taken as well as any edits I’ve
made of them. I would also make sure to include an explanation about my choice of colours and effects,
as well as a before and after image of each photo. I chose the theme ‘minimalistic photography’. When
doing research to find out what kinds of themes for photography were most popular, I found that
‘minimalistic photography’ was one of the most popular. I decided to do this, since not only is it widely
popular, but also because of how easy it is to do a shoot meaning I’ll be able to take a variety of amounts
of photos without spending much time. This also means that I can spend editing and creating my Portfolio
longer.
Research & Planning
Where will you use elementsof your research and planning to influence and inform your final
idea (be specific to certain parts)
I will be sure to include the same similar layout that I used for my experiments. I will also use the same
sort of colours and/or images. I also found various existing products online that I used as inspiration to
create my final product, which is my Portfolio and my posters, and create my experiments. When doing
my research, I learned from my surveys and interviews what my audience both likes and dislikes. I will
use the information I’ve gathered from my research to create a product that my audience will appeal to.
I will do this by including certain answers from my surveys (such as; what colour scheme do you prefer?
Bright/vibrant colours or greyscale?).
Audience:
Who is your audience? Be very detailed; age, gender, social status, psychographic etc.
Why would your project appeal to this person?
My intended audience is for 16-25 year-olds. I decided on this age range because I think that they would
be the most interested in my product(s). When thinking about what gender I want my product to appeal
to, I would want it to appeal to both male and female. This is because I don’t want to restrict any gender
from viewing and/or buying my product. The type of psychographic I want to appeal to is ‘Belonger’. I
chose this type of psychographic because I think it suits my audience best. This is because my audience
may just prefer one kind of image(s) that has a certain kind of effect on it or something else to do with
the photo itself. I do not intend to restrict any individual and/or any social statuses from viewing/buying
my product. I will do this by not restricting where any person can access and view my product.

Legal & Ethical Considerations:
Think about any offensive material you will include?
In order to make sure that my product will not offend anyone, I will not include any offensive material
such as imagery of text.
Will you restrict younger people using/accessing it?
In order to make sure my product can be accessed by anyone, including younger people, I will not include
any material that is offensive e.g. choice of imagery and/or language.
Will it offend any social groups/religions/ethnicities?
In order to make sure my product will not offend any social groups/religions/ethnicities, I will not include
any offensive material such as text and/or imagery.
How will you ensure you do not offend anyone?
I will make sure that my product will not offend anyone by making sure not to include any offensive
material such as any form of inappropriate language and/or any imagery.
Are you using characters/names/logos of existing products/IPs?
Will you product be sufficiently different from existing products to not get sued for copyright
infringement?
I will make sure that my product is different to already existing products in order to avoid copyright
infringement. It may include some imagery that is more mature that younger audiences might not enjoy
but the overall product will not offend any person. I have (will not) include any imagery that I have from
other Portfolios, as well as not copying any layouts of already existing products. I will make sure that is
different from already existing products by researching other products that are linked to my choices of
theme. By doing this, it will mean that my product will be different from already existing products and will
not appeal as if I had stolen another person’s work and receive a copyright claim. In order to comply with
ASA 2. Recognition of marketing communications I must make sure that my products (e.g. my posters
that are used to advertise my Graphics Portfolio) look like an advert. I must also explicitly state the
product to ensure that people know that part of my products’ purpose is to advertise. This is the same
for 4. Harm and Offence in which I must make sure that my product does not appear to set out and
intentionally offend any particular person and/or social group.
