Initial Reaction• I am excited to start the final major project because I have an idea in mind that I would like to create. I am slightly
worried about the rotation because this rotation is much more challenging as there are a lot more products to
create and in a short amount of time. We also have to try new techniques and show off our own skills which is
challenging. I want to create a photography/nature portfolio that is set in a summer field full of flowers. I really
enjoyed the print rotation because I learned new techniques on Photoshop to make my work appear more
professional. I really enjoyed photographing in the fashion style photography because it was interesting to research
about different fashion items. I would like to expand my photography style to try other things such as wildlife and
landscape photography because it is much more challenging and takes more technical skills. I also found the print
rotation interesting to research different products. I am interested in photography therefore I thought it would be a
good idea to do a summer inspired photo shoot to make the colours brighter and more colourful. I am enjoy taking
pictures of nature and wildlife so I have created some ideas in mind for the FMP. I am worried because I am relying
on the weather as this plays a big part. The location is a sunflower field so I am worried that the flowers may not
look how I want them to. I was thinking of taking pictures on my own camera of some friends in the sunflower field
but then also focussing on the flowers themselves. I am more excited than nervous to start this project. I think that
9 weeks on this project is enough time because this project is much bigger therefore we need more time. However, I
am worried that the weather may not improve in this time frame for me to take the photographs. I think I will finish
the project within this time frame, however it gives me extra time to check my work thoroughly and make any
changes.
Initial Reaction
• This rotation is much larger than the previous rotations. The rotation is running for 9 weeks which is time to create
multiple different products in the chosen style that you are interested in e.g. print, photography, film and video
games. I have chosen to create a mixture of photography and print products where the print products are based
around my own photography. I am excited to create photography based products because this is the style that I am
most interested in. Initially, I wanted to create a photography based magazine because I had previously created a
fashion magazine for the print rotation and I really enjoyed shooting in this style and writing about it. However, I
wanted to challenge myself to trying something new such as creating photography portfolios as I have just set up
my photography account. I receive lots of feedback about my photographs therefore I want to carry on working on
my photography and improve it as much as I can. I want to emulate work that I have seen from Frans Lanting. I
want to emulate this work because he edits his photographs where there is one dominant bright colour that is
overpowering. The photographs are such high quality and interesting that I would love to be able to recreate
anything similar to this standard. Some more work I would like to emulate is Art Wolfe. He is able to take amazing
wildlife shots where the colours are bright and the quality is amazing. Even though I will not be able to photograph
wildlife that is that interesting, I aspire to one day. I am excited to try take photographs like these, however I am
slightly nervous that they will not look no where near as good and instead will appear boring.

Idea 1
Portfolio
My first idea is to create a
nature/flower themed portfolio. I want
to create a portfolio that features two
models standing in a sunflower field
that are wearing different floral prints.
The main focus will be on the flowers
surrounding them.
The colour scheme of the portfolio will be mainly
yellow due to the sunflowers, however I would
also like to incorporate other bright, colourful
colours such as purple and blue. The models will
wear different prints and colours that match the
flowers. They will also have unusual makeup that
fits in with the colour scheme.
I would like to have written
information on my portfolio. For
example, there is a poetry book
called The Sun and Her Flowers.
I could include different lines
from the poems on the cover as
a tagline. I would also like to
include different drawings of
flowers around the images to
make the style more different
and abstract.
I would like to include as many
photographs that I have taken on the
portfolio to show off my techniques
and editing. On the cover I would
possibly add hand written facts about
the flowers or lighting or information
about how long it took to take the
images or on what camera the images
were taken on.
I would like my portfolio to be on a
brown background because it is simple
and also fits in with the theme of nature
and flowers. Brown will also influence
the yellow, blue and purple to stand out
even more and appear more bright.
I would like the font to appear in a hand written style just like the font
Libian SC or Apple Chancery. I want the font to look like this because
I think it will influence the portfolio to appear more creative and look
more that it hasn’t been edited too much and it has still been created
by me with my handwriting.
The sunflower is located near Selby and Ricall. I would also like to take
pictures by the River Ouse and the Yorkshire Dales. I am relying on the
weather heavily as I need a mixture of weather to suit the months. On
the portfolio I would like the pictures to be taken in sunshine, however
I need to cater to other months for the calendar.
On this mind map, I discussed the difference between building the portfolio on Photoshop or creating it on my own
personal website using WIX. I have decided to create my portfolio on Photoshop because I would like to add more
information about the location and equipment. The website would provide transitions where all the photographs are
not showcased at the same time. All information that I would like to include would not be provided. I also talked
about whether my portfolio should be based on nature, wildlife or landscapes as well as fashion photography. I have
decided to let my audience decipher when they complete my survey. I would be happy to create any style of
photography except fashion as I have previously created this and want to challenge myself. Furthermore, this will help
me appeal to my target audience as the portfolio has to be interesting to them.
Pros and Cons
Pros: I am going to create a flower themed portfolio because I think it would be
interesting to learn a new style of photography and challenge myself to a new style of
editing. I would like the portfolio to be macro photography as the photographs are a
much higher quality. My camera is not able to take photographs in the macro
photography style which is why I would borrow a camera and special lens from college
designed for macro photography. The portfolio is also a good way to showcase some
pictures from my exhibition because it acts like another promotion.
Cons: One of the cons of creating a portfolio is that it can be time consuming because I
am not going to create just this one product. I have to take the photographs then edit
them and create the portfolio. It can be time consuming which means it may disrupt
the production of other products. Another con is that a nature themed portfolio may
not interest the target audience therefore I may have to consider fashion photography
to appeal to a younger audience.
Mind Map
Idea 2
Fashion
Magazine
My second idea is to have a
fashion magazine. I want the
magazine to be based on summer
fashion where the photo-shoot
will be set in a sunflower field in
summer. This is located in Selby.
The models will be wearing
summer floral prints that look like
vintage pieces.
The colour scheme will be yellow
with light red. I will take my own
pictures that are edited to look
bright but also have a vintage
touch. I will provide a front cover
image as well as images for the
double page spread. Sunflowers will
feature in the background as well as
other flowers so that the colours all
match, (flowers and clothing).
I would like the images to look like a
similar style to what Topshop have done
when releasing summer clothing items. To
go alongside the magazine, I would like to
create a promotional poster. This poster
would show case the clothing items and
the prices. The font I would like to use on
the fashion magazine is TW Cen MT
Condensed because it stands out but also
looks classic and sleek.
Once again, I would like the photo-
shoot to be set in a sunflower field to
give the images a summer, bright and
colourful appearance. I would like
two models to show case the clothes,
however they will be similar heights
with similar coloured hair. I would like
to feature as many of my own images
as I can in the magazine. Another
product that could go alongside the
magazine would be a website. The
lighting will be dark around the edges
which influences the clothes to stand
out more and appear brighter.
I am not going to create a fashion magazine because I have created this product previously therefore I don’t think it
would challenge me enough. I am also limited with what other products I can create to go alongside it which is another
reason I didn’t want to create it. Finally, I wouldn’t be expanding my knowledge on photography or editing which is why I
think I would find the task to simple.
I would enjoy creating a fashion magazine because I previously created a fashion magazine that was also photographed
in spring/summer. I am interested in photography and fashion therefore combining the two allows me to show off my
skills. However, I am not going to pursue this idea because I have created this before and it would be too similar. I want
to challenge myself to creating something and expanding my knowledge on photography. I like the idea of creating
different issues because Vogue did this technique with Gigi and Bella Hadid. This technique increased the sales and
promotion of the magazine which could possibly have the same effect on my own magazine. To go alongside the fashion
magazine I could create a poster and video promotional advertisement. Overall, I am not going to create a fashion
magazine because my idea is too similar to my fashion magazine that I created on the print rotation.
Pros and Cons
Pros: Because I have created a fashion magazine before I know what types of shot
work best to show case the clothes. I also know what the best websites are to
research other products to compare to. Another pro is that I have edited fashion
photographs before and have researched other information before so I am more
comfortable creating a fashion magazine. I know the type of shots that work best for
show casing the clothes therefore the clothes would be show cased in a specific way
to make it more appealing.
Cons: The downside of creating a fashion magazine again is that I am not trying new
techniques and skills which means that it is not much of a challenge. I am not
expanding my knowledge and trying new photography techniques and styles which
means that I am more comfortable. My idea for the fashion magazine is too similar to
the previous fashion magazine that I created therefore I am limited to what I can make
which is why I will not pursue this idea.
Mind Map
Idea 3
Nature Guide
My third idea is to design and
create a nature guide. This would
be an online guide, highlighting the
best nature places to visit in York. I
would show case images of scenic
views such as The Ouse, The
Minster, The Shambles as well as
Castle Howard. I would design the
guide on Wix so that it was a
website and guide hybrid . You
could subscribe to the website to
receive seasonal guides of the best
places to visit and when the best
times are as well as discounts.
The colour scheme would be mainly be
green and yellow. The colour yellow
has connotations to happiness and
sunshine which will make the heading
and body text stand out and grab the
readers attention. The colour green will
be the most prominent because it has
connotations to nature which is what
the guide is all about.
I think the target audience of my guide
would be for older people aged 40-60
years old. This is because people this age
tend to be more interested in nature and
being outside in their spare time. The
locations would vary throughout the
guide from the Yorkshire Dales to The
River Ouse. Once again I am relying
heavily on the weather as I would like the
images to be pictured in the sunshine so
that the locations look more appealing.
I would take the images myself, and edit them to make them
look brighter and more eye catching. I would be relying
heavily on the weather during the different seasons. Another
problem would be that I do not have the time to take
pictures for all the different seasons which means I would
just do a summer edition.
I would like the font to be bold and black so that the guide
would look sleek and classic. An example of fonts I would use
would be Geneva for the headings and the font Menlo for the
body text.
I am going to create a nature guide book because it will go alongside the other products that I am going to create
perfectly. The guide will show case more photography as well as providing information about the best locations,
photographer and equipment. I would not like to give away free posters nor vouchers for discount because I think that
this alters the target audience to someone much younger. Aspiring photographers would not want a poster on their
wall of photography which is why I will advertise this. I would like the guide book to be free because it will be
accessible to any customer that has visited the exhibition. They have already paid for entry requirements therefore I
don’t think its fair to charge more money. If they would like any souvenirs they have the choice to do this. I want my
branding and logo on the cover because it will connect the guide book with other products that I am going to create
such as a nature portfolio. I will enjoy making this guide book because I am comfortable using Photoshop and will
research other guide book examples to compare to and analyze so I know what techniques to use in production.
Pros and Cons
Pros: One of the pros of creating a nature guide is that I have not created a guide
before which means I can try new techniques and skills as well as pushing myself to
experiment with new editing and photography techniques. I will research other guide
book examples and analyse the techniques that they have used so I can copy in my
own production. Another pro is that I have created a magazine before therefore I
know how pages should be designed and structured to get the best effect.
Cons: Creating a nature guide can be very time consuming because it will take lots of
research. I would have to research the best places to visit in Yorkshire for nature walks
and scenic views etc. I would have to visit these places and decide as well as take
images and create reviews. Another con is that it would not be necessarily challenging
to create as I have used Photoshop plenty of times to understand how to navigate. It
would not challenge me to new techniques unless I researched and compared to
widen my knowledge.
Mind Map
Idea 4
Fashion Promotional
Advert
My final idea would be to create a
fashion video advertisement. I would
create an advert to be shown on TV
which would advertise the different
clothing items. I would film it on my
own camera and edit it to make it have
a vintage feel. I would do this by editing
the RBG curves. To go alongside the
promotional video advert, I would
create a print advertisement to be
featured in magazines and billboards.
I am not going to do this idea because I want to
focus on photography and print advertisement
whereas this idea consists mainly of short film
production. I would have to take lots of equipment
to different locations and take several retakes which
means it would be much more time consuming.
Once again, the advert would revolve
around flowers and summer which
means the colour scheme would be
bright and colourful with a theme of
yellow, blue and purple. The advert
would be a maximum of 30 seconds so
that people get to see lots of different
clothes apart from getting too bored.
The fashion advert would be filmed in
the sunflower field near Selby and
Ricall.
I think my advert would appeal to a younger
audience as the clothes are trendy and in fashion.
The advert would need lots of editing with text
overlaid. I would also have to feature lots of
different transitions and effects which I am not
sure I will have enough time to complete as well as
planning the whole film.
An example of a transition I would use would be a fade in
and fade out so that there was a smooth introduction and
ending to the advert. The text on the advert would be
written in the font Apple Chancery to highlight to the
viewer that the clothes are sleek and classic as well as being
simple. I am relying on the weather as I would like to film
the advert in the sun which means that filming could be
interrupted or disrupted.
The fashion video advertisement would be go alongside the fashion magazine however it would not
focus strictly on print or photography which is what I want to specialise in. I found the video rotation
enjoyable to create however I think that creating a photography style products would be too simple for
me. I am most interested in expanding my knowledge in photography and the different styles. I like my
idea for the advert because I think it would show case my skills and knowledge and result in good marks,
however it is not what I am passionate about which is why I will not take this idea any further. I ran out of
ideas of the type of shots, colours and clothes in the video which means that I would struggle during
production which would take up lots of time.
Pros and Cons
Pros: One of the pros of creating a fashion promotional advert is that I have used the
software before that edits the video so I know what effects and transitions would
work best in an advertisement. I would be highlight to show new techniques that I
have learned across the year which would mean I could incorporate different
transitions and effects into the video. This would challenge me to trying a new style
that I have not tried before.
Cons: I wanted to create print and photography based products because this is what I
enjoy the most. If I create a video advertisement, I would not find it as interesting to
study and learn new techniques. Another con is that is that I am unsure what products
would go alongside the video which is why I am not going to create it. I am not
passionate about creating short films or video adverts which is why I would not find it
as interesting as creating other products.
Pros and Cons
Pros: One of the major cons of these ideas is that it would challenge me to learn new
techniques, skills and styles that will improve my photography and editing. My
knowledge will expand and I can improve my own individual work for the future when
moving onto new projects. Another pro is that I enjoyed creating print products on the
previous rotation which means I know how to create a print product where it is
structured and designed so it stands out and looks neat.
Cons: I have a lot of products to create in a short amount of time which could mean
that I run out of time and have to rush work where it is not completed to the best of
my ability. Another con is that I try new techniques and skills which ruins the
photographs and products. This would take up lots of time because I would have to go
back and re-edit them in a different style.
FMP- Portfolio, Exhibition & Calendar
Portfolio:
• Firstly, I would like to create a
photography/nature portfolio
that show cases my
photographs. I will take
images of flowers as this is
what the main subject of the
project is. The images on the
portfolio will feature two
models standing in a
sunflower field. Other images
will include other flowers
such as roses and daises as
well as pictures of wildlife and
other scenic views.
• On the portfolio, I would like
to write information of where
the image was taken, on what
type of camera and other
equipment used.
• The portfolio will act as a
small selection of pictures
that are released so people
can decide whether they want
to see the exhibition.
Exhibition:
• Secondly, I would like to create
an exhibition. I would not be
able to physically create an
exhibition which means that I
will advertise the exhibition on
my other products.
• The purpose of the exhibition
is to show many more pictures
that I have taken. I will
advertise the exhibition by
creating posers, guides, maps
as well as on my portfolio.
• An exhibition will also allow
me to create more products to
go alongside it such as guides
of the exhibition and a walk
through map.
Calendar:
• Another product I would like to
create would be a calendar. The
calendar will be based on
photography and nature. It will
show case more pictures that I
have taken that are not shown on
the portfolio.
• The images will fit with the
months. For example, in the
summer months the pictures will
be more sunny and feature
flowers. In the autumnal months,
the photographs will be much
more darker and not have as
many colours.
• I would also like to include images
of wildlife and other scenic views
just like the portfolio.
• The calendar would be advertised
and sold at the exhibition.
FMP- Poster, Guide & Walk Through
Poster:
• I would like to create a digital
poster to advertise the
exhibition of my work. The
poster will include the location,
dates and times, and prices as
well as advertising my favourite
picture that I have taken from
the photo shoot.
• I will create the poster on
Photoshop by editing the image
to the best of my ability as well
as making the poster intriguing
and eye catching where the
reader feels influenced to visit
the exhibition.
• The colour scheme on the
poster will match the colours
that are shown on the portfolio
and on the calendar as well as
having the same font. This will
make all the products connect
together.
Guide:
• The guide would be
created on Word. The
purpose of the guide is to
act as a book for the
exhibition. It will include
information about the
exhibition as well as
information about the
images. For example, the
camera they were taken
on, the program used to
edit the image, the
location etc.
• The guide will act as a
souvenir from the
exhibition that will also
advertise other products
to purchase such as the
calendar and poster.
Walk Through:
• The final product I will
create will be a walk
through map. I will
create the map on
Photoshop. The map is
another product that
goes alongside the
exhibition. It will help
people visiting the
exhibition get to see all
it has to offer as well as
highlighting where other
nearby coffee stops are
and restaurants.
• The map will be a free
product that is given to
every customer as they
enter the exhibition.
Once again, the map will
follow the same colour
scheme so every
product is connected.
Final Project- Photography Portfolio
Photographs:
• I will take the pictures on my own camera as well as borrowing a tripod from college to take the
images.
• I want the images to look professional and high quality, however I want to experiment with the
pictures and make them look vintage. I will achieve this by editing the photographs on Photoshop
where I can edit the brightness as well as changing the RGB curves.
• The photographs will be taken over several weeks so that I can include all the different weathers
and seasons on my calendar.
• I want to feature different types of shots in my portfolio. I will have close up shots of the flowers
as well as medium shots of the models faces posing with flowers in their hands. Finally, I will take
long shot images to show the models standing in the field full of flowers.
• I will take images of flowers, scenic views and wildlife so that there is varied images featured on
the portfolio as well as the calendar.
• In some of the images, I would like to take pictures of people in the locations so that I can get
creative with the fashion and makeup. For example, for the summer months on the calendar, I
would like to take images of two models standing in a sunflower field. They will be wearing floral
prints and have colourful eye shadow on. This will make the sunflowers look brighter and the
image in general will appear more colourful.
• For the spring months, I would take images of wildlife highlighting Easter. In the winter months, I
would edit the images on Photoshop so that they look darker.
Mood Board
Mood Board- Styles- Wildlife
The colour schemes on the
images tend to be brown, blue
and green mainly. These
colours have strong
connotations to nature and the
earth. Because the animals are
central and close up, it creates
a serious powerful mood and
tone of the overall image.
This has helped me because I
have decided what wildlife I
would like to be
on my calendar
to be the most
Interesting.
Mood Board- Photographers
Frans Lanting
Art Wolfe
Mood Board- Styles- Landscape
The colour scheme across the images once again
brown, blue and green. The shots tend to be long shots
which makes the mood more peaceful and calm as the
photographs are of quiet places in nature where there
are no people. The general tone of the images is happy
and peaceful as the colours are very bright.
This has helped me because I now know that yellow
helps the image stand out more and catch your eye as
it stands out against the green and blue.
Mood Board- Styles- Macro
There is not a common colour scheme across the
images as it varies to what flower you are
photographing. However, the colours are very
bright and eye catching which makes the tone and
mood of the photographs more upbeat and fun.
The feeling from the images is very spring/summer
like which makes people feel more happy as you
can see the sun light and bright colours.
Mood Board- Types Of Flowers
Mood Board- Types Of Flowers
Once again there is not a reoccurring colour scheme because it depends on what
flowers you are photographing. The flowers are very bright and colourful which makes
the general mood of the photograph much more happy and fun. The type of shot is
close up or an extreme close up in a macro photography style which makes the flower
seem more powerful.
Looking at the images helps me decide what flowers I would like to photograph and
feature on my flower-themed portfolio. I now know what flowers have the brightest
colours and best colour scheme to help make the portfolio more interesting and fun.
Mood Board Analysis
Is there any repetition in the images you have collected?
Repeated colours/images styles/fonts/tone/mood
• There is several repeated colours. There is a lot a yellow and orange in the images that can be
used for autumn and summer months. There is also a lot of green. I wanted these colours as
well as purple to be the most prominent because I think they all go well together and have
positive connotations. Also these colours influence you to think of nature. There is a mixture
of moods in the mixtures. When the photographs are brighter, they have a more positive
mood due to the colours. However, on the images of rain, the colours are darker and more
muted and have a darker mood. The style of the shots tend to be long shots. I think this is
because it allows you to fit more of the nature background into the image.
How will your mood board influence your final product?
• My mood board will influence my final product because it has helped me come up with
creative ideas of what to take pictures of and what type of shot. It has highlighted to me
what type of shot works best taking photographs of nature. The scenic views work well as a
long shot and the wildlife works best in a medium to close up shot.

Fmp initial plans

  • 2. Initial Reaction• I am excited to start the final major project because I have an idea in mind that I would like to create. I am slightly worried about the rotation because this rotation is much more challenging as there are a lot more products to create and in a short amount of time. We also have to try new techniques and show off our own skills which is challenging. I want to create a photography/nature portfolio that is set in a summer field full of flowers. I really enjoyed the print rotation because I learned new techniques on Photoshop to make my work appear more professional. I really enjoyed photographing in the fashion style photography because it was interesting to research about different fashion items. I would like to expand my photography style to try other things such as wildlife and landscape photography because it is much more challenging and takes more technical skills. I also found the print rotation interesting to research different products. I am interested in photography therefore I thought it would be a good idea to do a summer inspired photo shoot to make the colours brighter and more colourful. I am enjoy taking pictures of nature and wildlife so I have created some ideas in mind for the FMP. I am worried because I am relying on the weather as this plays a big part. The location is a sunflower field so I am worried that the flowers may not look how I want them to. I was thinking of taking pictures on my own camera of some friends in the sunflower field but then also focussing on the flowers themselves. I am more excited than nervous to start this project. I think that 9 weeks on this project is enough time because this project is much bigger therefore we need more time. However, I am worried that the weather may not improve in this time frame for me to take the photographs. I think I will finish the project within this time frame, however it gives me extra time to check my work thoroughly and make any changes.
  • 3. Initial Reaction • This rotation is much larger than the previous rotations. The rotation is running for 9 weeks which is time to create multiple different products in the chosen style that you are interested in e.g. print, photography, film and video games. I have chosen to create a mixture of photography and print products where the print products are based around my own photography. I am excited to create photography based products because this is the style that I am most interested in. Initially, I wanted to create a photography based magazine because I had previously created a fashion magazine for the print rotation and I really enjoyed shooting in this style and writing about it. However, I wanted to challenge myself to trying something new such as creating photography portfolios as I have just set up my photography account. I receive lots of feedback about my photographs therefore I want to carry on working on my photography and improve it as much as I can. I want to emulate work that I have seen from Frans Lanting. I want to emulate this work because he edits his photographs where there is one dominant bright colour that is overpowering. The photographs are such high quality and interesting that I would love to be able to recreate anything similar to this standard. Some more work I would like to emulate is Art Wolfe. He is able to take amazing wildlife shots where the colours are bright and the quality is amazing. Even though I will not be able to photograph wildlife that is that interesting, I aspire to one day. I am excited to try take photographs like these, however I am slightly nervous that they will not look no where near as good and instead will appear boring. • 4. Mind Map Idea 1 Portfolio My first idea is to create a nature/flower themed portfolio. I want to create a portfolio that features two models standing in a sunflower field that are wearing different floral prints. The main focus will be on the flowers surrounding them. The colour scheme of the portfolio will be mainly yellow due to the sunflowers, however I would also like to incorporate other bright, colourful colours such as purple and blue. The models will wear different prints and colours that match the flowers. They will also have unusual makeup that fits in with the colour scheme. I would like to have written information on my portfolio. For example, there is a poetry book called The Sun and Her Flowers. I could include different lines from the poems on the cover as a tagline. I would also like to include different drawings of flowers around the images to make the style more different and abstract. I would like to include as many photographs that I have taken on the portfolio to show off my techniques and editing. On the cover I would possibly add hand written facts about the flowers or lighting or information about how long it took to take the images or on what camera the images were taken on. I would like my portfolio to be on a brown background because it is simple and also fits in with the theme of nature and flowers. Brown will also influence the yellow, blue and purple to stand out even more and appear more bright. I would like the font to appear in a hand written style just like the font Libian SC or Apple Chancery. I want the font to look like this because I think it will influence the portfolio to appear more creative and look more that it hasn’t been edited too much and it has still been created by me with my handwriting. The sunflower is located near Selby and Ricall. I would also like to take pictures by the River Ouse and the Yorkshire Dales. I am relying on the weather heavily as I need a mixture of weather to suit the months. On the portfolio I would like the pictures to be taken in sunshine, however I need to cater to other months for the calendar.
  • 5. On this mind map, I discussed the difference between building the portfolio on Photoshop or creating it on my own personal website using WIX. I have decided to create my portfolio on Photoshop because I would like to add more information about the location and equipment. The website would provide transitions where all the photographs are not showcased at the same time. All information that I would like to include would not be provided. I also talked about whether my portfolio should be based on nature, wildlife or landscapes as well as fashion photography. I have decided to let my audience decipher when they complete my survey. I would be happy to create any style of photography except fashion as I have previously created this and want to challenge myself. Furthermore, this will help me appeal to my target audience as the portfolio has to be interesting to them.
  • 6. Pros and Cons Pros: I am going to create a flower themed portfolio because I think it would be interesting to learn a new style of photography and challenge myself to a new style of editing. I would like the portfolio to be macro photography as the photographs are a much higher quality. My camera is not able to take photographs in the macro photography style which is why I would borrow a camera and special lens from college designed for macro photography. The portfolio is also a good way to showcase some pictures from my exhibition because it acts like another promotion. Cons: One of the cons of creating a portfolio is that it can be time consuming because I am not going to create just this one product. I have to take the photographs then edit them and create the portfolio. It can be time consuming which means it may disrupt the production of other products. Another con is that a nature themed portfolio may not interest the target audience therefore I may have to consider fashion photography to appeal to a younger audience.
  • 7. Mind Map Idea 2 Fashion Magazine My second idea is to have a fashion magazine. I want the magazine to be based on summer fashion where the photo-shoot will be set in a sunflower field in summer. This is located in Selby. The models will be wearing summer floral prints that look like vintage pieces. The colour scheme will be yellow with light red. I will take my own pictures that are edited to look bright but also have a vintage touch. I will provide a front cover image as well as images for the double page spread. Sunflowers will feature in the background as well as other flowers so that the colours all match, (flowers and clothing). I would like the images to look like a similar style to what Topshop have done when releasing summer clothing items. To go alongside the magazine, I would like to create a promotional poster. This poster would show case the clothing items and the prices. The font I would like to use on the fashion magazine is TW Cen MT Condensed because it stands out but also looks classic and sleek. Once again, I would like the photo- shoot to be set in a sunflower field to give the images a summer, bright and colourful appearance. I would like two models to show case the clothes, however they will be similar heights with similar coloured hair. I would like to feature as many of my own images as I can in the magazine. Another product that could go alongside the magazine would be a website. The lighting will be dark around the edges which influences the clothes to stand out more and appear brighter.
  • 8. I am not going to create a fashion magazine because I have created this product previously therefore I don’t think it would challenge me enough. I am also limited with what other products I can create to go alongside it which is another reason I didn’t want to create it. Finally, I wouldn’t be expanding my knowledge on photography or editing which is why I think I would find the task to simple.
  • 9. I would enjoy creating a fashion magazine because I previously created a fashion magazine that was also photographed in spring/summer. I am interested in photography and fashion therefore combining the two allows me to show off my skills. However, I am not going to pursue this idea because I have created this before and it would be too similar. I want to challenge myself to creating something and expanding my knowledge on photography. I like the idea of creating different issues because Vogue did this technique with Gigi and Bella Hadid. This technique increased the sales and promotion of the magazine which could possibly have the same effect on my own magazine. To go alongside the fashion magazine I could create a poster and video promotional advertisement. Overall, I am not going to create a fashion magazine because my idea is too similar to my fashion magazine that I created on the print rotation.
  • 10. Pros and Cons Pros: Because I have created a fashion magazine before I know what types of shot work best to show case the clothes. I also know what the best websites are to research other products to compare to. Another pro is that I have edited fashion photographs before and have researched other information before so I am more comfortable creating a fashion magazine. I know the type of shots that work best for show casing the clothes therefore the clothes would be show cased in a specific way to make it more appealing. Cons: The downside of creating a fashion magazine again is that I am not trying new techniques and skills which means that it is not much of a challenge. I am not expanding my knowledge and trying new photography techniques and styles which means that I am more comfortable. My idea for the fashion magazine is too similar to the previous fashion magazine that I created therefore I am limited to what I can make which is why I will not pursue this idea.
  • 11. Mind Map Idea 3 Nature Guide My third idea is to design and create a nature guide. This would be an online guide, highlighting the best nature places to visit in York. I would show case images of scenic views such as The Ouse, The Minster, The Shambles as well as Castle Howard. I would design the guide on Wix so that it was a website and guide hybrid . You could subscribe to the website to receive seasonal guides of the best places to visit and when the best times are as well as discounts. The colour scheme would be mainly be green and yellow. The colour yellow has connotations to happiness and sunshine which will make the heading and body text stand out and grab the readers attention. The colour green will be the most prominent because it has connotations to nature which is what the guide is all about. I think the target audience of my guide would be for older people aged 40-60 years old. This is because people this age tend to be more interested in nature and being outside in their spare time. The locations would vary throughout the guide from the Yorkshire Dales to The River Ouse. Once again I am relying heavily on the weather as I would like the images to be pictured in the sunshine so that the locations look more appealing. I would take the images myself, and edit them to make them look brighter and more eye catching. I would be relying heavily on the weather during the different seasons. Another problem would be that I do not have the time to take pictures for all the different seasons which means I would just do a summer edition. I would like the font to be bold and black so that the guide would look sleek and classic. An example of fonts I would use would be Geneva for the headings and the font Menlo for the body text.
  • 12. I am going to create a nature guide book because it will go alongside the other products that I am going to create perfectly. The guide will show case more photography as well as providing information about the best locations, photographer and equipment. I would not like to give away free posters nor vouchers for discount because I think that this alters the target audience to someone much younger. Aspiring photographers would not want a poster on their wall of photography which is why I will advertise this. I would like the guide book to be free because it will be accessible to any customer that has visited the exhibition. They have already paid for entry requirements therefore I don’t think its fair to charge more money. If they would like any souvenirs they have the choice to do this. I want my branding and logo on the cover because it will connect the guide book with other products that I am going to create such as a nature portfolio. I will enjoy making this guide book because I am comfortable using Photoshop and will research other guide book examples to compare to and analyze so I know what techniques to use in production.
  • 13. Pros and Cons Pros: One of the pros of creating a nature guide is that I have not created a guide before which means I can try new techniques and skills as well as pushing myself to experiment with new editing and photography techniques. I will research other guide book examples and analyse the techniques that they have used so I can copy in my own production. Another pro is that I have created a magazine before therefore I know how pages should be designed and structured to get the best effect. Cons: Creating a nature guide can be very time consuming because it will take lots of research. I would have to research the best places to visit in Yorkshire for nature walks and scenic views etc. I would have to visit these places and decide as well as take images and create reviews. Another con is that it would not be necessarily challenging to create as I have used Photoshop plenty of times to understand how to navigate. It would not challenge me to new techniques unless I researched and compared to widen my knowledge.
  • 14. Mind Map Idea 4 Fashion Promotional Advert My final idea would be to create a fashion video advertisement. I would create an advert to be shown on TV which would advertise the different clothing items. I would film it on my own camera and edit it to make it have a vintage feel. I would do this by editing the RBG curves. To go alongside the promotional video advert, I would create a print advertisement to be featured in magazines and billboards. I am not going to do this idea because I want to focus on photography and print advertisement whereas this idea consists mainly of short film production. I would have to take lots of equipment to different locations and take several retakes which means it would be much more time consuming. Once again, the advert would revolve around flowers and summer which means the colour scheme would be bright and colourful with a theme of yellow, blue and purple. The advert would be a maximum of 30 seconds so that people get to see lots of different clothes apart from getting too bored. The fashion advert would be filmed in the sunflower field near Selby and Ricall. I think my advert would appeal to a younger audience as the clothes are trendy and in fashion. The advert would need lots of editing with text overlaid. I would also have to feature lots of different transitions and effects which I am not sure I will have enough time to complete as well as planning the whole film. An example of a transition I would use would be a fade in and fade out so that there was a smooth introduction and ending to the advert. The text on the advert would be written in the font Apple Chancery to highlight to the viewer that the clothes are sleek and classic as well as being simple. I am relying on the weather as I would like to film the advert in the sun which means that filming could be interrupted or disrupted.
  • 15. The fashion video advertisement would be go alongside the fashion magazine however it would not focus strictly on print or photography which is what I want to specialise in. I found the video rotation enjoyable to create however I think that creating a photography style products would be too simple for me. I am most interested in expanding my knowledge in photography and the different styles. I like my idea for the advert because I think it would show case my skills and knowledge and result in good marks, however it is not what I am passionate about which is why I will not take this idea any further. I ran out of ideas of the type of shots, colours and clothes in the video which means that I would struggle during production which would take up lots of time.
  • 16. Pros and Cons Pros: One of the pros of creating a fashion promotional advert is that I have used the software before that edits the video so I know what effects and transitions would work best in an advertisement. I would be highlight to show new techniques that I have learned across the year which would mean I could incorporate different transitions and effects into the video. This would challenge me to trying a new style that I have not tried before. Cons: I wanted to create print and photography based products because this is what I enjoy the most. If I create a video advertisement, I would not find it as interesting to study and learn new techniques. Another con is that is that I am unsure what products would go alongside the video which is why I am not going to create it. I am not passionate about creating short films or video adverts which is why I would not find it as interesting as creating other products.
  • 17.
  • 18. Pros and Cons Pros: One of the major cons of these ideas is that it would challenge me to learn new techniques, skills and styles that will improve my photography and editing. My knowledge will expand and I can improve my own individual work for the future when moving onto new projects. Another pro is that I enjoyed creating print products on the previous rotation which means I know how to create a print product where it is structured and designed so it stands out and looks neat. Cons: I have a lot of products to create in a short amount of time which could mean that I run out of time and have to rush work where it is not completed to the best of my ability. Another con is that I try new techniques and skills which ruins the photographs and products. This would take up lots of time because I would have to go back and re-edit them in a different style.
  • 19. FMP- Portfolio, Exhibition & Calendar Portfolio: • Firstly, I would like to create a photography/nature portfolio that show cases my photographs. I will take images of flowers as this is what the main subject of the project is. The images on the portfolio will feature two models standing in a sunflower field. Other images will include other flowers such as roses and daises as well as pictures of wildlife and other scenic views. • On the portfolio, I would like to write information of where the image was taken, on what type of camera and other equipment used. • The portfolio will act as a small selection of pictures that are released so people can decide whether they want to see the exhibition. Exhibition: • Secondly, I would like to create an exhibition. I would not be able to physically create an exhibition which means that I will advertise the exhibition on my other products. • The purpose of the exhibition is to show many more pictures that I have taken. I will advertise the exhibition by creating posers, guides, maps as well as on my portfolio. • An exhibition will also allow me to create more products to go alongside it such as guides of the exhibition and a walk through map. Calendar: • Another product I would like to create would be a calendar. The calendar will be based on photography and nature. It will show case more pictures that I have taken that are not shown on the portfolio. • The images will fit with the months. For example, in the summer months the pictures will be more sunny and feature flowers. In the autumnal months, the photographs will be much more darker and not have as many colours. • I would also like to include images of wildlife and other scenic views just like the portfolio. • The calendar would be advertised and sold at the exhibition.
  • 20. FMP- Poster, Guide & Walk Through Poster: • I would like to create a digital poster to advertise the exhibition of my work. The poster will include the location, dates and times, and prices as well as advertising my favourite picture that I have taken from the photo shoot. • I will create the poster on Photoshop by editing the image to the best of my ability as well as making the poster intriguing and eye catching where the reader feels influenced to visit the exhibition. • The colour scheme on the poster will match the colours that are shown on the portfolio and on the calendar as well as having the same font. This will make all the products connect together. Guide: • The guide would be created on Word. The purpose of the guide is to act as a book for the exhibition. It will include information about the exhibition as well as information about the images. For example, the camera they were taken on, the program used to edit the image, the location etc. • The guide will act as a souvenir from the exhibition that will also advertise other products to purchase such as the calendar and poster. Walk Through: • The final product I will create will be a walk through map. I will create the map on Photoshop. The map is another product that goes alongside the exhibition. It will help people visiting the exhibition get to see all it has to offer as well as highlighting where other nearby coffee stops are and restaurants. • The map will be a free product that is given to every customer as they enter the exhibition. Once again, the map will follow the same colour scheme so every product is connected.
  • 21. Final Project- Photography Portfolio Photographs: • I will take the pictures on my own camera as well as borrowing a tripod from college to take the images. • I want the images to look professional and high quality, however I want to experiment with the pictures and make them look vintage. I will achieve this by editing the photographs on Photoshop where I can edit the brightness as well as changing the RGB curves. • The photographs will be taken over several weeks so that I can include all the different weathers and seasons on my calendar. • I want to feature different types of shots in my portfolio. I will have close up shots of the flowers as well as medium shots of the models faces posing with flowers in their hands. Finally, I will take long shot images to show the models standing in the field full of flowers. • I will take images of flowers, scenic views and wildlife so that there is varied images featured on the portfolio as well as the calendar. • In some of the images, I would like to take pictures of people in the locations so that I can get creative with the fashion and makeup. For example, for the summer months on the calendar, I would like to take images of two models standing in a sunflower field. They will be wearing floral prints and have colourful eye shadow on. This will make the sunflowers look brighter and the image in general will appear more colourful. • For the spring months, I would take images of wildlife highlighting Easter. In the winter months, I would edit the images on Photoshop so that they look darker.
  • 23. Mood Board- Styles- Wildlife The colour schemes on the images tend to be brown, blue and green mainly. These colours have strong connotations to nature and the earth. Because the animals are central and close up, it creates a serious powerful mood and tone of the overall image. This has helped me because I have decided what wildlife I would like to be on my calendar to be the most Interesting.

  • 25. Mood Board- Styles- Landscape The colour scheme across the images once again brown, blue and green. The shots tend to be long shots which makes the mood more peaceful and calm as the photographs are of quiet places in nature where there are no people. The general tone of the images is happy and peaceful as the colours are very bright. This has helped me because I now know that yellow helps the image stand out more and catch your eye as it stands out against the green and blue.
  • 26. Mood Board- Styles- Macro There is not a common colour scheme across the images as it varies to what flower you are photographing. However, the colours are very bright and eye catching which makes the tone and mood of the photographs more upbeat and fun. The feeling from the images is very spring/summer like which makes people feel more happy as you can see the sun light and bright colours.
  • 27. Mood Board- Types Of Flowers
  • 28. Mood Board- Types Of Flowers Once again there is not a reoccurring colour scheme because it depends on what flowers you are photographing. The flowers are very bright and colourful which makes the general mood of the photograph much more happy and fun. The type of shot is close up or an extreme close up in a macro photography style which makes the flower seem more powerful. Looking at the images helps me decide what flowers I would like to photograph and feature on my flower-themed portfolio. I now know what flowers have the brightest colours and best colour scheme to help make the portfolio more interesting and fun.
  • 29. Mood Board Analysis Is there any repetition in the images you have collected? Repeated colours/images styles/fonts/tone/mood • There is several repeated colours. There is a lot a yellow and orange in the images that can be used for autumn and summer months. There is also a lot of green. I wanted these colours as well as purple to be the most prominent because I think they all go well together and have positive connotations. Also these colours influence you to think of nature. There is a mixture of moods in the mixtures. When the photographs are brighter, they have a more positive mood due to the colours. However, on the images of rain, the colours are darker and more muted and have a darker mood. The style of the shots tend to be long shots. I think this is because it allows you to fit more of the nature background into the image. How will your mood board influence your final product? • My mood board will influence my final product because it has helped me come up with creative ideas of what to take pictures of and what type of shot. It has highlighted to me what type of shot works best taking photographs of nature. The scenic views work well as a long shot and the wildlife works best in a medium to close up shot.
