2. Areas For ImprovementThere is a lack of
primary colours in the
feature stories and
block colours behind
them makes it look
unrealistic.
Feature story covers up
model, something I
would change looking
back on it now.
Model not making eye
contact with camera is a
convention I challenged.
Background of the
magazine looks
unrealistic and the
model looks extremely
fake due to bad photo
shopping skills.
Footer included which
is a convention
followed and it looks
professional.
Extra photos on the
front cover, something I
decided not to do on
my final front cover in
order to not take away
from the main image.
3. Photoshop & Photography
Whilst making my preliminary product I did not have a good
knowledge meaning the editing skills on the my preliminary
task is not as good as on my final product. I feel I have learnt
how to correctly use photoshop during the progression from
my preliminary product to my final product.
I also improved my photography skills during the process of
creating my product as my main image in my preliminary
product is not very good and does meet the criteria and I
also did not manipulate it effectively unlike on my final
product. However I feel the costume on both products are
relevant and effectively represent the country music genre
and the sciences.
4. Layout and Masthead
My preliminary task allowed me to develop the layout and
masthead in my music magazine. I feel the masthead has improved
as it follows the codes and conventions of the country genre unlike
the college magazine which is rather unconventional and doesn’t
really fit a typical college magazine masthead. The layout also
differs between the country and college magazine because my
music magazine follows many codes and conventions of the
country genre. However it is the same as I constructed it with the
feature stories on the left in both magazines. On my college
magazine I used block colours behind the feature stories which is
something that does not look professional, therefore on my music
magazine I did not do this and instead used differing colours in
order to show different stories.
