3. First of all, I lowered the brightness of the entire image to give it a darker
atmosphere.
4. Next I selected the bright section of the shoes and changed the colour, then I selected all of
the shoes and reduced the vibrancy.
5. I wanted to add tattoos
to my model to give him
more of a ’rock’ look so I
drew mountains onto the
ankle with a simple
paintbrush and a spray
paint texture for the
shading. And then I
added a Gaussian blur to
fade it into the skin more
and make in more
realistic.
I used the same process to
show the edge of a sleeve.
6. I also added neck tattoos with the same
process and added a little bit more stubble as
the models own stubble wasn’t obvious in the
original image.
7. I also selected his jeans and reduced the luminosity to make the jeans black, again to give the
model and shoot a more ‘rock’ look.
8. I added the text I needed into a new page and then changed their colours.
9. Next I added a border to the
page and added the barcode,
issue number, date, photo cred,
sub images, mast head and
skyline.
I selected the model and made
him into a new layer so that I
could layer the mast head
behind the model and layer the
sub-images.
10. Next I added the main cover line and sub lines. I made sure they were in the centre of the
image but not covering any tattoos. I also changed the colour to fit more with the darker
image.
11. Next I added more cover lines and sub images
with white outlines to ensure they don’t clash
with the dominant image.
12. Finally, I added a puff by the sub images (posters) to attract readers and explain the
images.
13. FINAL PRODUCT
I decided that each aspect needed to be
anchored to the page more so I split the
page into three (horizontally) and set the
page out like that.
