The document analyzes existing tourism advertising products like posters, videos, magazines, and billboards. It notes common features like landscape imagery, easy to read text, and color contrasts. The analysis will inform the creation of the student's own tourism advertising work for Ripon, incorporating aspects like an artistic image, cuts in a promotional video, and background music. Interviews with potential audiences found social media to be the best advertising platform, though posters outside could also work. The student's products will be shared on social media and are intended to promote visits to Ripon.
2. Existing Product-Poster
This is a poster advertising York as a place to visit. It’s
like my project as I will also be advertising a place to
go.
This poster has a simple but effective design. It has a
big picture of the place on this one its York. It’s a
portrait shot from a long distance at a big of a height
so you can see over the wall at the cathedral. The
image has an artistic filter on it which I really like and
might do. The layout of the poster is good because
its very easy to the eye, the main focus Is the image
which takes up most of the space on the poster.
The font is in capital letters its quite a big size so you
can see it from a distance. It’s a very simple font
which makes it easy to read.
The lighting is very good because it comes from
behind the “camera” on an angle so you can see the
detail in everything.
This poster is off the most famous thing in York, the
York Minster it’s a good view of it and the filter
makes it seem older which I like I think all of this
would make someone want to visit.
3. Existing Product-Video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BsHnd1M4KsI
This is a video advertisement for
Great Britain. There are so many
locations because they are showing
what Great Britain has to offer. There
are loads of different angles from
close ups, looking down, looking up,
almost upside down. There are also
variations in the speed in camera
movement. All this combined gives a
really good feel to the video and
makes it flow nicely together and so it
doesn’t get boring. There has been
some post-production editing where
they cut each piece of video really
quickly. There is a soundtrack behind
the video with a few clips of dialogue
from films in there as well, this bring
the whole video together. The
soundtrack compliments the video
well because its like Epic music usually
used in film where they have a big
scene going on flying over mountains
and things. It shows how Epic Great
Britain is.
There are loads of different types of lighting from light to
dark, natural and man made, from all angles as well as
different colours of lighting here and there. There are
loads of people in this advertisement all wearing many
different clothes some are wearing actuall outfits, as well
as many different types of people. I think this really shows
how diverse and welcoming Great Britain is and I think
that is what mainly would appeal to the audience as well
as the beautiful scenery we have.
There isn’t much font only at the start and the end it’s a
simple font in white and capitals that’s easy to read.
4. Existing Product-Magazine
This is an image of a landscape it’s a long angle shot of
hills. I'm certain this image as no effects on it. Its hard
to tell where the light is coming from, all the image
looks like its being lit up, so I am assuming the sun it
right in the middle of the sky. On this magazine there is
lots of writing which personally I don’t like because
there's too much to look at.
The fonts are all different and there are different
colours and sizes and I think it just hurts to eyes to look
at.
As it is a magazine the reason it has lots of things on it
is you can have an idea of what will be in the magazine.
This is one of the reasons it would appeal to the
audience.
I think the layout is good because the font isn’t really
covering the image so your eyes are drawn to that.
5. Existing Product-BIllboard
The image is landscape of a scene in
Montana is a wide angle shot of the
scenery and person. This image does
not have and effects or post
production on it.
The lighting is good because it is
behind the person so it lights up the
front of the image and its darker at the
back I think they have done this to
bring the focus the text.
The text is Black on a white
background, so it stands out. It’s a
simple font in capital letters and a big
font so its easy to see from a long
distance which is what billboards need
to do.
The person is wearing a “costume” he
or she is wearing clothes that keep you
warm in the cold. From looking at that
and the location you can tell that the
place it cold before you even go.
This would appeal to people because it’s a
nice image that would make you want to visit.
I also think the fact that there is the contrast
between the image and the font makes it
easier to see.
