2. At first I started off with my banner to set the theme colours of
my website which was green, black, and a red/orange colour. I
used these colours deliberately as they are vibrant and eye-
catching. These colours represent their uplifting music and
happy lifestyles. I also edited a image so it will suit the website I
enhanced the colour and blended colours so it has a reggae
effect. The background of the banner was green this was to suit
the purpose for my website. I used simple but text that relates to
the audience as most reggae designers use that type of font. I
had to go on a free website which offers different texts for free.
This helped me find the right one. I made the banner smaller as
it was not pixelated as it was before, now it looks better and very
professional.
3. After I went on to starting on my homepage I managed to find a image of graphic
designed posters that were based around reggae. I made sure there was a clear use
of navigation used in my website such as the menu tool bar. I chose a darker green
to go with the theme colours. I made the background black because I thought it
would go well with the text being white so it would stand out. I made the banner
smaller as the banner was too big, I felt that the point of focus was needed on the
content provided on the website. The structure for my website I used was the simple
hub- and spoke structure as it is easy to use, other than a more complex structure as
it would be more difficult.
4. I changed my mind and changed my background to a soothing background of tree branches
moving in a jungle, I used this as it was a good behaviour to use on my website. It also sets the
mood as Reggae is reminded of happiness and nature and vibrant colours, it also goes with the
colours used in the website. Another behaviour I used was the social media links, when you go
onto the website they float into the screen. I also made the social media links portrait instead of
landscape as it goes well against the text. I decided to change the font as it did not fit the
website, before it was an roman font. I made sure that all the text underneath the title were the
same size as before it looked out of place. I removed the Bob Marley music on the side as I felt
it was too much for my website.
5. I changed my mind and went on to adding my own image as I wanted to share my poster. The poster includes
three reggae artists. The text includes “Roots of reggae, History of life, Changing music, One love,
ROCKSTEADY, BASHMENT, SKA, DANCEHALL MENTO JAZZ, 2017 VIBEZ”. I wanted to make my website
come across as eye-catching and easy to read I made sure the image was big enough so the viewers will not
miss it as it is the homepage and is right in the centre. The text was white before but I changed my mind and
decided to add more colour to my website. I added yellow red and green as it represent Reggae more than
white. In the text I included a introduction and the history of reggae as that’s what my poster represents. I
decided to include type & typographic structure. I made “Welcome to my page” in bold and a bigger font on
purpose so it attracts the viewers attention. I added more text as more unwanted space was needed to fill. So
I added more information about the history of reggae and the upbringing and start of reggae music.
The text below is about how reggae
began so the viewers know the roots
of reggae, I made the paragraph bold
as it is important to understand how all
of the music and art came from.
6. I decided to include dynamic content
such as an YouTube video which talks
about the history of Reggae. I felt like it
would be helpful to have a audio
description of how reggae has come a
long way.
I also decided to include another video so my
viewer has a variety to chose from. This made
sense as the viewer can have a background of
what Reggae is about, so they don’t feel
limited in their choice of video
I also included on my homepage six
featured reggae posters from the
class. I felt that it gave the website a
good look. It also expresses the love
for reggae and the creativity from
each individual. I changed this and
decided to move all images to my
gallery. As it made sense if I included
more text and videos.
7. The second page of my website is the gallery I decided to have a gallery page
illustrating all posters made by students in my class. At first I decided to include a
scattered effect gallery. I changed my mind and decided to have my gallery in a
simple format. All the posters are in portrait and landscape format so the viewer
can see the images clear. The scattered format looked plain and small as space was
seen around the images. I felt as the audience need to be aware and need to be
informed properly by the posters being used.
8. The next page included in my website is my blog, this is to include more interactive
sectors on my website. I decided to make the title white and bold so it is eye-
catching to the viewer. I chose a simple format so anyone can view my blog posts
when they want to. Also there is navigation used on my blog page, a search bar is
there so you can define your search. I changed the font to the title of the page to
fit the text used in my website. I also changed the background as grey was behind
the text. I changed it to black so the title will pop.
9. I decided to include a simple form page so the viewer is free to fill out a form. Also
I included a location so the website comes across as realistic. It also makes the
website look slick and professional. I gave the page a title so the viewer is not
confused. I used the colour black as it is bold but simple. I changed the font to fit
the text used throughout the website. I included a location so my website can
come across as realistic and professional, I put it on the right hand side so it is easy
to access.
