1. How effective is the combination of
your main product and the ancillary
texts?
2. A) Production aim of the film.
• The main aim of the film was to create a
socially realist Crime/Thriller film that had the
right amount of seriousness to it whilst having
a certain charm about it as though you almost
like the bad guys. A good example of this
would be Stanley Kubrick’s ‘a clockwork
orange’
3. Production aim for the poster.
• Obviously the first aim of a poster is to draw in
an audience but we wanted to get a across to
the people seeing it some of the themes and
genres of our film.
• We did this by altering an image of sam to
make him look as though he has two sides to
his face; a light side and a dark side. This little
technique can potentially enlighten the
audience to the plot of our film a little.
4. Other film posters.
• Other film posters have roughly the same
principles as ours in the sense that they are made
to bring in a larger audience. One of the most
effective film posters of all time in my opinion is
the poster for ‘Jaws’ as the simplicity of it just
captures and tells you about the story without
giving too much away.
• Obviously with our film having different themes
to jaws we had to find an alternative inspiration
which was found in the split face idea of the
poster for the film ‘Warrior’.
5. Our radio trailer.
• Our radio trailer was always intended to be an
upbeat sounding trailer with some added
seriousness to reflect the films themes.
• We did this by using the same music
composition from the film aswell as including
some of the exciting and dramatic quotes
from the film. This worked well as it created a
nice juxtaposition between the audio files and
the music.

7. Viral Advertisement
• For our film we also created viral advert
wanted posters which were left around
college, we did this because we didn't believe
we had a big enough following to start an
internet campaign of viral ads like what was
used in the dark knight.
8. In conclusion...
• Overall I think that the two ancillary texts
were effective in selling our product because
both the poster and the radio trailer were
really reflective of the films themes and
genres. This means the audience could decide
whether they like the look of the film from the
poster and the radio trailer alone.
