1. Tell me in no more than20 words, what is your
Factual idea?
I am goingto create a punk fanzine aboutthe
band‘The Clash’
Why have youdecided to makeit? I enjoy ‘punk’ musicandI’mreally interested in
the style duringthe 1970’s. Becauseof this, I think
it will be fun to explore it in a Fanzine.
What aboutyourproject makesit importantto
you?
My project is goingto be interesting and because
of the help I’ve hadwith Magazinesin year 1, I
won’tstruggle with the productionandcan focus
on the literary content. This will make the project
fun andenjoying the work you’redoingis always
important!
Outline someof the initial influences onyour
idea/work and somepotential research targets
(remember, research isn’t justa paperbased
activity)
Obviously, themaininfluence for my Fanzinewill
be the band‘The Clash’. Their styleand soundwill
have a big influence in how my magazine looksas
I want my magazinesaesthetics to be coherent
with the topic I am lookingat. I alsowant to
explore punk fashionsoI will have to research
some designersto see if they hadany substantial
effect uponpunk fashion.
What effect do youwant to haveon your
audience when they see yourproject?
I want audiences whogrew up listening tothis
music to recognise the tropesI have used. As well
to appreciate that althoughmy magazineis styled
uponsomethingold. It hasmodernday influences
in its design andgraphics etc..
For my youngeraudience, I justwant to bring
some knowledgeaboutPunk fashionandeven the
societal in looksat the time. I don’tknowto much
aboutthe history of punksandI would assume
thatmy target audience, whoare a similar age to
me, may noteither- soit wouldbe great tolearn
andput forward somethingnew and interesting.
Describe the tone/mood/styleofyourproject
[which productiontechniques/characteristicsare
youemploying?]
I want my Fanzine tobe very rustic and edgy. I
want it to seem ‘cheesy’ but still want it to be
obviousthatI haveapplied great techniques and
spenttime onthe design. My Fanzineneeds to
reflect the aestheticsof the 1970’spunk era.
Therefor I amgoing to employ messy
characteristics like disproportionatetextboxes
andoverlappingimages.
