2. Basic Information
• Title: Collision
• Positioning statement: come to rock! Come to
collision!
• Price: £2.50 per issue or £80.00 for an annual
subscription.
• Distribution: unlike my plans I will distribute my
magazine on a weekly basis, as my questionnaire
results suggest that people prefer a weekly
magazine like kerrang, rather than the longer
monthly magazines like metal hammer.
3. Rational
My magazine will be a rock and metal magazine. This will include gig
reviews, interviews, album reviews, news about popular rock/metal
artists, competitions and posters. I think it will appeal to my target
audience of 16-30year olds as there will be something for everyone.
Similarly to Kerrang I will incorporate both contemporary and new
rock to try and make it appeal to everyone. I also aim to design my
magazine similarly to kerrang and rock sound as I think the lack of
organisation and structure with regards to the layout fit perfectly with
the rough genre. I also aim to make lots of my interview exclusive,
meaning the potential readers won’t be able to get access to the news
anywhere else. Finally I will aim to produce great pictures , especially
on my front cover, as I think for most people this is one of the main
necessity when buying a music magazine.
4. Content
Regular content
In each issue I will include a selection of posters,
different competitions, album reviews, gig
reviews and upcoming tour details.
Feature articles
My feature articles will include news about
popular rock/metal artists and exclusive
interviews.
5. Colour
The main colours I will incorporate into my
Front cover, contents and double page spread
will be red, yellow and black. I’ve chosen these
colours as I think they will standout and comply
with the rock genre for my magazine. My
colours will be very bold shades that will
standout against the background for my
magazine instead of lighter shades.
