2. Research
I think my research was great in terms of analyzing
similar products and gaining data. You can see clearly
how I have linked my research and my final magazine
successfully. I used many similar conventions in my
magazine that I had seen from other ones and it helped
my overall project. Despite this, I think the literacy
aspect of my research was quite poor, I failed to analyze
the sort of text that appears in magazines like mine. And
there for the text of my product felt quite jumbled.
Planning
I spent a lot of time planning how my magazine would look and where I would place
everything which made my final magazine easy to make, I didn't waste any time because I
knew where I wanted everything to go. Despite this, I wish I would have planned an extra
double page spread because I think I would have had time to complete another.
3. Time Management
• For this project, I managed my time very well and handed in every
PowerPoint within the allocated period, I think I had enough time to do
what I had envisioned and don't think I needed more time. If I did have
more time though, I would have made an a few more double page spreads
to create a full magazine.

5. Aesthetic Qualities
I think my front cover looks great, my
use of colors were thought out well and
complement the main image. In my
research I created a color scheme with
colors from various magazines like mine
and the colors I used here were
sampled from them.
I really like my
photography for the main
image. The compositions
of the photo have been
thoroughly thought out
and I think it looks
professional.
The first double page spread was my
favorite part of my magazine and I
think it really complimented the
artists star image and the cigarettes.
It took a long time to make the
cigarette text but I’m glad I did
because it's aesthetically pleasing.
This is the least visually
pleasing part of my first DPS
and I don’t think it works well.
I would improve this by
changing the text and it’s
positioning and possibly
adding a boarder to it. It sticks
out and clashes with other
text and doesn’t look as good
as the rest of the magazine.
I love the colour scheme of the
second double page spread and
think I blended the colour of the
magazine with my photography
to create a well-rounded and
smooth looking page. This photo
was difficult to take as it is a
'selfie' but I think it fits the
theme of my page very well.
This 'punk-esque' font looks great and
to me is quite unique. If I were to re-
do my magazine, I would probably
change the colour of the font to black
and white like the masthead on the
front page of it.
I love the 'edgy' photography and
think it merges well with the
pastel purples in the background.
Despite this, I think the magazine
would have looked more rounded
and smoother if I had changed the
colour to a light blue pastel colour
(like the front page). I think this
would have brought the magazine
together and given it a nicer finish.
6. The Masthead is written in
an Indie-punk ‘esque’ text
which appeals to a young
audience due to its
connotations of
rebelliousness and diversity.
Cover lines have a good
insight into what will be
in the magazine,
including the word
‘indie’ which will be
appealing to an indie
audience.
I created a new font in a
unique and artsy way
which I think would
appeal to an indie
audience that are looking
for something new and
bold.
No complex words- an
easy read. Appeals to a
young target audience
who want their
information quickly and
efficiently- to the point
and simple.
The importance of social justice and
inequalities are growing for young
people, social issues are a hot topic. By
including social issues in my magazine, I
think I've done a great job in attracting
my audience, by capturing their
attention and making them think
without using complex ideas.
With over 32 million views on his
most popular video; Mac DeMarco
is incredibly relevant in the Indie
scene (named the 'Prince Of Indie
Rock). Because of this his fans may
want to read my magazine too.
Featuring a star who is a large face
of the Indie music scene lightly
widen my target audience.
