2. Research
My research was a lot more in-depth and helpful then my recent
projects, my research about this project really helped me develop
my idea and inspired me a lot, it made me look at many different
styles and fonts rather then going with the first one I liked.
After looking at a lot of covers and pages of magazines I slowly
picked bits I liked out, there was a lot of things that I thought
looked good and I tried to put together my idea I had with these
parts. I looked at photography magazines only because this is the
idea I wanted to go for but I should have probably looked at other
types of magazines to then see why I wanted to do my idea and
what I maybe could of seen and things within other magazines.
My research lead me to a final idea that I think turned out looking
really great and fits all my plans and what I wanted.
3. Planning
With my planning I think this went well, I could of added more images into
the mood boards about other ideas as I stuck with the night life one a lot but I
did create min mas for other types of magazines and things, is scheduled my
time good and everything has worked out and my initial reaction to the brief
is all on there. Compared to some other planning I've done this isn’t the best
as I focused mainly on the one idea but other then that I feel it went real well.
If I had of planned what shots I wanted to go where instead of just putting
photos I wanted in till it looked good I think my final product would of turned
out much better, this was one of my biggest mistakes.
4. Time Management
My time management went really well and I finished my product
with an extra double page spread, I think this has to be the best
time management through out all the other projects I have
done but I also did quite a bit of work at home. If I possible had a
lot more time I could of spent time planning what shots I wanted
to put where, as I just used shots I had already taken at work.
Using shots I had already taken sped my time up a lot and gave
me more time to edit and things because I didn’t have to go out
and take pictures, but it possibly would have turned out better if
I had planned the shots before.
5. Technical Qualities
As you can see my double page spread with my articles on, I changed the layout
in post just because I thought it looked better, I also added small titles on both
the pages showing the readers what its about. I think with my double page
spread I hit my target audience well because everything flows nicely and looks
great. My second double page I really like because its such a god image and has a
lot of fun in it and the short text/quote hits hard, its simple but looks so much
more and I like this because it shows a fun side to work and shows that images
are not just taken but made.
The second double page spread I made I
got the idea from my research, this is
simple but looks great and this is one
example of where my research improved
my idea a lot.
6. Technical Qualities
As you can see I followed the same
style I had planned to do with
changing the picture to better suit the
colors I wanted and moved the title
and tags around away from the edge
of the page, I think this has come out
real well and the picture really suits
the font and colors of the writing on
the cover, the pictures ambient colors
go really well and everything it neat
and professional.
7. Aesthetic Qualities
I personally think that the look and style of my magazine well fits the topic its
about, dark back ground with a lot of ambient warm colors representing a clubs
environment looks really well. The front cover I think looks amazing just because of
how nice the photo is and how the colors match the titles color and font. I think the
front cover catches a lot of my audience due to the color full image and how well
the two subjects look and how fun/happy. It looks yet still maintaining the high
professional look.
The double page spread where its one huge image looks great, I think this really
suits my magazine stile because it shows off a great nightlife photo and the quote
on it is really inspiring and hits hard. The other double page spread I think looks a
lot better then what I thought it would, I changed the second page article to
columns and that made a huge improvement but the way the photos are
positioned leads you to the text and the text is real easy to follow, I also really like
the black bac ground with white text and it suits the nightlife theme a lot.
8. Audience Appeal
My target audience is young photographers looking for inspiration for photos
and tips and tricks to do with nightlife photography, I think my magazine
articles hit the audience really well as I talk about goo and bad things to do
and how to improve photos etc. the images within my magazine are fun and
exciting and the front cover looks easy to manage, fun, and modern. I have
tried to match the writing to image ratio to keep people focused within the
magazine as too much text bores people and too many photos get repetitive.
The front cover does a real good job at pulling peoples eyes in as its two
gorgeous females having fun, this may seem sexist but woman normally
dance a lot more then men in clubs and its relevant.
He style and overall look of my finished product hits my target audience,
maybe with more time I could of researched more into my target audience
and added some better features to pull them in better but I think ive done a
good job and it works well.
