1. Evaluation Task 1
In what ways does your media
product use, develop or challenge
forms and conventions of real
media products?
2. Stranger than Fiction
The scene, where our
character prepares for
work and changes his
clothing, may be
compared to the
sequence in Stranger
than fiction. In this
movie film-makers
emphasised on the
character making a tie,
therefore in our thriller
we also have a similar
shot. There is a big
difference in lighting,
but the reason for this
is in the genre of both
films.
3. House M.D.
In the kitchen our
character takes his pills
to feel better after the
previous night out. In
series House M.D. the
doctor is actually
addicted to his pills like
our detective is
addicted to alcohol.
Therefore, here are the
shots which show the
similarity between their
actions.
4. Falling Down
The opening title
sequence of this film
includes a car-scene,
which links with the final
part of our thriller. The
idea which is pointed out,
is that both characters
travel towards
destination.
5. Monk
Our thriller and the series are both
about detectives, and while we as
a group were thinking about
making our opening title
sequence, we looked at it. It also
starts out with the main character
leaving home for work.
In our thriller we also tried to
present the personality of the
detective and the way he gets
ready for work. These shots
are pretty similar as they show
the last part of the opening
title sequence when the
character leaves his house.
6. Se7en
Even though, Se7en is
also about detectives
investigating their case,
I focused on the
environment and
locations in this film.
From these shots, it is
obvious that the
furniture in our
character’s home looks
quite similar to the one
in Se7en.
