The document outlines an initial plan for a print-based final major project focused on genres like fashion, beauty, or cooking. Strengths include creative writing and photography skills suited to magazines, while time management and attention to detail need improvement. Potential project ideas involve a magazine reviewing makeup/skin products or featuring food recipes and images.
2. Initial Reaction
Medium- As part of my brief I have been given the opportunity to create any product within 8 weeks within any specialism of my choice. The
thing that reaches out to me is the print aspect of media, this could consist of many things.
Genre- There is a range of genre within print. I'm personally interested in things such as fashion, Beauty, Children wear, cooking. I could do
many things with these genre’s. A photography portfolio or a magazine or potentially a CD case or DVD case.
Thoughts and feelings- My initial thoughts were that I wanted to pursue a print production within my own interests. For example in my own
time I often watch short cooking clips and images as I find it pleasing to the eye. I also enjoy looking at new makeup brands and tutorials both
in print and short film within magazines and YouTube. I also like new fashion trends that might appear in mags such as vogue and Love.
Strengths and Weaknesses-
Strengths- I feel that when I first did the print rotation I personally felt that my images I took were suited to the codes and conventions of a
fashion magazine, not only did I feel that the majority of the images matched my article, I also enjoyed planning and taking them. Another
reason as to why I feel I might do print in my final FMP, is that I feel I excel in creative writing especially about things I am interested in.
Weaknesses-I feel that my weakness is the fine detail toward the end of the project and ensuring that my piece is of a high quality. I also
watch to make sure my time keeping is up to standard.
Hardware and software- If I choose to pursue a print project I will use the software's In-Design or Photoshop to manipulate, airbrush my
images and articles. I feel that these are essential for a print project as they make your final piece professional compared to Microsoft. I will
also book out cameras SD cards and a tri pod for this, To ensure quality images and potentially the college studio.
Time management- To ensure I am proactive, I will potentially create a GANTT chart or use my phone the schedule/calendar and my diary.
Reflection- Reflecting will be an important tool for my FMP, Because it means I can go back and improve and correct my work as I go along to
ensure I improve throughout.
Reaction- I feel I’m leaning toward a magazine on makeup/skin/beauty routines reviews from different reviewers.
Or a food/health recipes and images/advice.
6. Mood Board Analysis
Is there any repetition in the images you have collected? Repeated
colours/images styles/fonts/tone/mood
-Within my images I went for a range of colours as I felt it was necessary to not
exclude any colours that I might want to use in my final piece.
For my actual images I went for a wide range of things include home made remedies,
different makeup products for a wide range of products to review.
I also looked at websites for beauty vloggers to get insight to that industry.
My mood was obviously bright/eye catching
How will your mood board influence your final product?
My mood board will influence my final product by using the colour schemes I might
one to include for my final piece this will be things like stereotypical girly products etc.
It will also help me influence what kind ages I might include and what genre of
photography I personally like etc.
