Looking back at your preliminary task,
what do you feel you have learnt in the
progression from it to the full product?
Preliminary Task: Final Product:
Looking back at my Preliminary Task of the school
magazine, I have learnt a lot on magazine’s and how
to make them look professional. I have also
progressed in the technology side as I used more
softwares for my music magazine than I did for my
school magazine. I have learnt many new
techniques on softwares such as Photoshop and
Powerpoint.
I have learnt how to target my audience correctly by
using the right conventions and colour scheme.
I have also learnt many new conventions – I have learnt
about pull out quotes, mast heads, CVI’s, sell and
many more. I used more of the conventions in the full
product than in the preliminary task. For example I
decided to bleed my picture off the edge of the
magazine in the full product. I also used ‘sell’ to
persuade people to buy my magazine. The
conventions were used much more in the full product
than my preliminary task.
Overall, I have learnt how to create a professional
looking magazine and how to use the Media
Conventions in the right places, like the rest of the
magazines out there. My final product compared to
my preliminary task really shows my progress in
using the conventions and I have developed my
understanding of magazine production.
