2. 7. Looking back at your preliminary task, college
magazine, what do you feel you have learnt?
How have you become better at constructing a magazine since your
college magazine?
I now have a better knowledge of how to make magazines and what they should
look like in order to look professional, when I began this year of AS Media I had
no prior subject knowledge and so I didn’t have any idea at all of how to create a
professional looking magazine. I think this was reflected in my college magazine
as this was my first attempt of creating a magazine and it was quite a poor
standard, I created my college magazine on Microsoft Word.
3. 7. Looking back at your preliminary task, college
magazine, what do you feel you have learnt?
Since creating that magazine I have developed my
skills on adobe InDesign which produces a much
more professional looking magazine when done
properly. In the future I would always use InDesign
now as the results are much better.
4. 7. Looking back at your preliminary task, college
magazine, what do you feel you have learnt?
When creating my college magazine I wasn’t fully
aware of the main aspects of a magazine that draw the
reader in, the masthead and colour scheme etc. is what
will first catch the consumers attention. Since the
beginning of the year my knowledge has grown in
creating a professional looking magazine.
5. 7. Looking back at your preliminary task, college
magazine, what do you feel you have learnt?
Have you planned your work better?
In my first creation (of the college magazine) my planning was nowhere near as
much as it needed to be in order to create a good looking magazine, my second
attempt (music magazine) was a lot easier to create as I had put more planning
and work into it because I learnt from my first magazine that it takes a lot longer
to create a magazine with no planning as you have to plan whilst doing it.
6. 7. Looking back at your preliminary task, college
magazine, what do you feel you have learnt?
With my college magazine I didn't’t produce any initial plans
of what it was going to look like, say or the colour scheme etc.
the only planning I had was the pictures I was going to use.
This however helped me with my music magazine because I
realized how essential planning is in the production of any
media product which I also learned in the British cinema part
of the AS Media course.
7. 7. Looking back at your preliminary task, college
magazine, what do you feel you have learnt?
Have you Developed your use of Desk Top Publishing (DTP)
which is photoshop?
I have developed my knowledge of Photoshop but if I could have
developed my knowledge of Photoshop a little bit earlier I really think my
magazine would have benefitted as the quality of my images would be a
lot better. My knowledge of photoshop did improve however not as early
as I would have liked.
8. I believe my skills on Photoshop did not develop
earlier because I was not able to log on to the server for
several weeks during the development of my images.
Before this year I had a ‘OK’ knowledge of photoshop
as I had previously used it in other subjects (business
and ICT) however this time I learnt a lot more than the
last two times due to the fact that my pictures had to
look good or they effected my whole magazine.
