Working Title:
What is it called? This can change if you think of something better later
Audience:
Who is your audience? Be very detailed; age, gender, social status, psychographic etc. Use the
Audience Classifications PowerPoint on Blackboard to help you develop this section.
Why would your project appeal to this person? Discuss each audience element in relation to
content (why would your product appeal to the age group? Why would your product appeal to the
gender? Etc.)
My audience is young mothers in their 20’s-30’s who are new to parenting and are seeking advice.
Their social status will be middle to upper class as the clothing will be good quality and not cheap,
yet affordable. I think this kind of magazine would appeal to this age group of mothers as they will
find it comforting being new to parenting and it is a fashion magazine with beneficial advice. It is
aimed for women, but men can also read it to get tips on dressing their child for the appropriate
occasions. It will also be aimed at mothers soon to give birth, so they can prepare for the right
colours and types of clothing they will require for a new born. This magazine could be something
mothers could bond over, and talk about when in baby classes and whenever they meet with
friends. It makes the stress of preparing your babies wardrobe pleasurable and a nice experience.
For social status, I think middle to upper class is what I will aim for as it means they can afford
quality not quantity, and will understand fashion and letting your baby feel comfortable and happy
in what they’re wearing.
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
Review your progress throughout the year- what skills and knowledge have you acquired?
How has the subjects you have studied this year informed your choice for this project?
What have you studied and how will it have a direct impact upon your project?
Throughout the year I have gained lots of skills that will definitely help me achieve the best
outcome I can for my FMP. I have a lot of knowledge when it comes to photography, due to using
the camera equipment for two of my past projects. I already enjoy photography on a whole, and
find using different camera angles and effects/lighting really exciting. For my print project
November I completed a fashion magazine with all my own photographs. I thoroughly enjoyed this
project and think I took high quality and professional looking photos which I managed to edit
myself on photoshop. I used in design software for the first time and managed to get the hang of it
pretty quickly, from this I learnt how to set out an article with photographs and headlines whilst
keeping everything in proportion and looking accurate. I really enjoyed using in design, and also
experimenting with editing photos on photoshop. I have used photoshop for every project I have
done throughout the year, so I have gained a lot of skills and knowledge to use this software. It
provides tools that can make something quite simple into however you’d like it to look, choosing
different colours and airbrushing effects (which will be very useful for taking photographs for a
magazine).
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
What is the concept for your project and what are you going to make?
What research will you need to conduct and how will it help you make your project/
The concept of my project is to create a fashion magazine with tips and advice for young children
and babies. I want to make a portfolio of photographs and images of children playing and enjoying
themselves doing every day activities, whilst look comfortable and happy in high quality clothing.
The reason I want to create this for young mothers who have young children or our preparing for a
baby, is because I think it will create the excitement to motherhood and bonding with your child,
especially if you enjoy fashion and want to dress your child in the modern looks and styles. I think
for mothers, it can be stressful and over whelming preparing or dressing your child on a morning
when you have 100 other things going on, but if you had a magazine and article on how to cope
with this stress and what outfit ideas you can dress your child in, then they could really benefit from
this. It is almost a guidebook with outfits whilst providing shops that sell the clothing. I will set out
outfits for different occasions and seasons like summer, winter, parties, every day etc. I am only

going to base my magazine on female toddlers and children, as I have most experience with this
and I feel more confident with choosing female outfits, as I know what is comfy and how I would
like to dress my daughter. However, I will be providing gender neutral clothing ideas for new borns,
as I think many mothers are stuck on what to buy to prepare for their baby. I want to write an
article, and maybe create a website on wix.com. In my article I feel I could write a lot about making
dressing your child a bonding experience and something to look forward to, as well as writing tips
and advice. I also think I could tell the mothers where to buy the outfits from and the prices, whilst
providing similar items of clothing which are just cheaper but still high quality. I will create my
magazine on in design, and add all my photographs that I take onto there. I will be using my young
cousin who is 2 for my model, and my sister who is 9 (both female). I will create photographs of
them playing in their outfits, looking happy and care free outdoors and inside. I also have an idea
of giving skin care and TLC adivce and tips for mothers after a long day of working and looking
after your child. I think this could be really beneficial as it can be a guidebook for them how to
remember to leave time for themselves. It will be a magazine for mothers to reflect and follow,
which they can talk about amongst each other for leisure and enjoyment.
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
How do you plan to evaluate the work? Reference conducting on-going evaluation and your final
self-reflection, analysing your work and its outcomes.
When evaluating my work, I want to keep going back and ensure I am reflecting. I will remember to
keep taking screenshots of how I progress throughout my FMP. This will be beneficial because
when I come to my evaluation I can show all the work I have done and how I got there. I will do an
evaluation in the order I did my project, evaluating my initial ideas, research, pre-production,
production etc. I want to create an evaluation that shows exactly how my project began and how I
got there, with the final outcome. I will talk about my strengths and weakness’ and how I managed
to take the photographs and write my article and how I improved things as I went along. I will also
reflect on how I created and edited photos and my magazine on in design, remembering to talk
about problems I crossed and what I did to solve them.
