How didyouattract/addressyouraudience?
My targetaudience isteenage girlsaged16-18 especially inthe UK,I wouldalsoexpect myaudience
to be mostlywhite andmiddle class.
I have triedto addressthisaudience thoughoutthe productionof my magazine. One thingIusedto
address myaudience impractical wascolour.Iusedthe colourpinkas one of my house coloursinthe
magazine aspinkisstereotypical agirly coloursoits inclusionwouldautomatically define my
magazine asa girlsrockmagazine. Howeverpinkcontrastswhichthe ideas presented bymygenre
so I had to thinkof waysto make the colourfit in.thisiswhyI usedblacka majorcolourfor rock
magazines because of itsnegative connotations, asmyotherhouse colour.
AnotherwayI have addressedmyaudience is byonlyshowingteenagergirlswhofitintomy target
audience inthe magazine. My fountcovermodel isa goodexample of this, the model isayoung
white female. Normally inmagazinesaimedatgirlsthere wouldbe youngattractive males, butasI
am not aimingmyaudience ata particularsexualityI have chosen justuse girls.
I have alsousedthe strapline toappeal tomy audience. All of the topicsmentionedinthe strapline
are hobbiesorintereststhatIfoundoutmy audience liked,inmyresearch.
In mycontentspage I triedto bringinthe same elements thatIusedto appeal to myaudience inthe
cover. The inclusionof these elementsalsohelpedwithmyhouse style. The pinkandblack boughtin
my linkstomy audience andgenre andmymastheadestablishedmybranding.Somenew elements
that linkedtomy audience wasthe phone inmy models pocketandthe social mediainformation are
goodexamplesof this. Increasingly the youngergeneration especially hasbecome obsessedwith
technology andsocial networking. Soby includingthe pieces if technology Iamtellingthemthatthis
magazine understands there impressed andhobbiesandthatwe care about theirneedsasyoung
readers.
The fountI have usedfor the title alsolinkstomy audience asthat fontisusually associatedwhich
the pastel Goth culture.Pastel Gothisa type of Goth whowearsbrightercoloursthisphase ismore
modern sothe people involvedinthe culture tendtobe teensandyoungadults. If anyof my
audience fall intothissubculture or at leastare aware of it will be appreciativethatmymagazine is
up to date withcurrenttrends.
I have alsotriedto use textspeaklike “2k15” insteadof 2015. I didthissothat my audience younot
feel putoff butthe formalityof the text.Ionlyusedone piece of textspeak asI thoughtto much
informal language wouldmake the magazine lookunprofessional andchildish.
For my double page spreadI triedtorelate to the audience byagainincludingthe colourspinkand
blackin myarticle as well askeepingthe texttoa minimal as teenagerstendtobecome unengaged
whenpresentedwithlotof text.
In Alsoinclude the fire image notonlytorepresenthow the artistswasgoingoutof herbad period
and into a newage of musicbut alsobecause mytarget audience have aninterestindarkergrittier
thingslike destructionorfire.
EventhoughI removedsome of the college postersIstill leftthe hall waylookingrelativelythe
same. Thisis because Iwantedthe audience tobe able tolookat the environmentandthinkitlooks
formula.Thiswill helpthemrelate withmymodel andwillmake themmore likelytowanttoknow
abouther and readabout herinmy magazine.
