1. Similar Products – music video analysis
Analysis of song (Spastic Max) using Goodwin - key features
identified with good analysis. Very good detail included on
visual links to audience and expectations of artist. Consistent
use of media terminology and technical terminology – camera
shot types, mise-en-scene. Some attempt to link visuals with
meaning. Good screenshots added for evidence.
Agreed as above, second song (Leaf Dog) now added to the
same standard. Excellent application of Goodwin, well done.

Good informed guide to genre with some key influences,
themes and conventions identified.
Brief detail on early history of genre, with influence of key
artists from that history – links to songs/videos would also be
welcome. Some research into chosen artist would also be
welcome.
Digipak/advert annotation shows good awareness of
conventions with good detailed analysis. Good link to
image/font to establish ‘style’ of artist and relation to audience
and genre.
Agreed, excellent genre research, you could add images of
the artist you talk about to make this more visual. Excellent
poster, tour advert and CD cover analysis, your research in
this area will stand you in great stead for your production.

No detail on audience for genre in general, could have used
some evidence of research.
Again good detail on stereotypical TA for own product with
some evidence of research – questionnaire.
This section has been improved. Good use of avatars to show
typical audience members and their likes, dislikes. Excellent
use of radio statistics to look further into your target audience.

3. Callum has demonstrated excellent ICT skills through completion of his pre-
production blog. Callum could of added labels to his blog to make navigation
easier. Callum has presented an excellent level of research into his genre and
similar products. Production of his music video is planned in detail and
presented with care and attention to detail. Callum presents an excellent
storyboard which, again demonstrates excellent ICT skills.
Costumes and music video mise-en-scene could have been discussed in slightly
more detail.
Level 4
19 marks
First mark slightly generous. However lots of improvements have now been
made based on initial feedback. Work is now soundly in level 4 and displays
excellent overall research and planning. Well done.
