Questionnaire Responses
I have sent out 15 questionnaires and within 2 days of sending them out I have received all
15 of them back with the filled responses. The questionnaires have been passed out to
various people in the school including people in sixth form and the younger years. The
respondents were chosen randomly, therefore this data is not representative of the whole
school as only a small sample of the school has been taken.
Analysis of responses
The target of our audience was
mainly females aged 11-18. We
specifically targeted this age group
because they are the ones that are
more interested in the Pop Genre,
and also the main character in our
music video will be a female aged
17.
Most of the respondents were
aged 17, this shows that older
teens are interested in their
music tastes and are more
willing to talk about what they
prefer. Also, the fact that more
17 year olds have answered
shows us that in our video we
should include things that
appeal to this age group more.
This chart shows the overall
preference of the type of music
video people that have completed
the questionnaire have. Most of the
respondents have stated that they
prefer Narrative music videos.
Also performance and a mixture of
all have also been chosen by some
respondents. This will help me
choose what type of music video to
create.
The chart shows how people
view the importance of music
videos, which is relevant because
it will give me an idea on how
many people will pay attention to
my video. Looking at the data,
the highest response is that it
depends on the song, therefore it
shows me that in order for my
music video to be effective, I
need to have an enjoyable song.
The pie chart shows if people would share
or view a music video depending on
whether it was up on social media or not.
This therefore showing us how to appeal to
our audience and how to reach it. Some of
the respondents have answered ‘yes’
showing that in fact social media is
important to the success of a music video.
However most of them have answered ‘no’
therefore I would not need to advertise my
music video that much on social media.
Most of the respondents have said
that they find out about new music
video releases through YouTube or
Recommended by a friend. Some of
the respondents have said that they
find out about them through social
media platforms such as facebook
and twitter. This shows me that it
will be more effective to advertise
my music video on youtube and to
tell people about it so they can
spread the word.
This chart shows that the majority of
people would be more interested to
watch a music video if it was part of a
movie soundtrack. Music videos that
are part of a movie soundtrack are
often created in a higher quality
therefore the audience is more
attracted to it. This informs me that in
order to get as many views, the
quality if my music video has to be as
high as possible, as the quality of a
movie.
All of the respondents have said that
collaborations help an artist reach a
wider audience, due to the fact that
they can reach 2 different audiences
at the same time through the artist
they are collaborating with. This
helps me when looking into what
artists to include in my own music
video, as more people included
would make a wider audience.
The chart shows how many people
believe that there are certain areas
that should be considered
unsuitable for a music video. This
particular question did not get
many responses, however it gave
me an idea that mainly, violence
and nudity should not be included
in my music video.
The chart shows what people that
have participated in answering
my questionnaire believe about
parental advisory restrictions.
Most people have said that it
depends on what is included in
the music video, therefore, I will
make sure that my music video is
appropriate for all ages, therefore
no parental advisory is requiered.

  • 6. The chart shows how people view the importance of music videos, which is relevant because it will give me an idea on how many people will pay attention to my video. Looking at the data, the highest response is that it depends on the song, therefore it shows me that in order for my music video to be effective, I need to have an enjoyable song.
  • 7. The pie chart shows if people would share or view a music video depending on whether it was up on social media or not. This therefore showing us how to appeal to our audience and how to reach it. Some of the respondents have answered ‘yes’ showing that in fact social media is important to the success of a music video. However most of them have answered ‘no’ therefore I would not need to advertise my music video that much on social media.
  • 8. Most of the respondents have said that they find out about new music video releases through YouTube or Recommended by a friend. Some of the respondents have said that they find out about them through social media platforms such as facebook and twitter. This shows me that it will be more effective to advertise my music video on youtube and to tell people about it so they can spread the word.
  • 9. This chart shows that the majority of people would be more interested to watch a music video if it was part of a movie soundtrack. Music videos that are part of a movie soundtrack are often created in a higher quality therefore the audience is more attracted to it. This informs me that in order to get as many views, the quality if my music video has to be as high as possible, as the quality of a movie.

All of the respondents have said that collaborations help an artist reach a wider audience, due to the fact that they can reach 2 different audiences at the same time through the artist they are collaborating with. This helps me when looking into what artists to include in my own music video, as more people included would make a wider audience.
  • 11. The chart shows how many people believe that there are certain areas that should be considered unsuitable for a music video. This particular question did not get many responses, however it gave me an idea that mainly, violence and nudity should not be included in my music video.

Most people have said that it depends on what is included in the music video, therefore, I will make sure that my music video is appropriate for all ages, therefore no parental advisory is requiered.
