2. INITIAL IDEAS
The beginning of the project deemed to be hard for us as we couldn’t quite decide what song
to pick. We dipped in and out of songs and never came to a definite conclusion. Once we
thought we found our song (supernova) we proceeded to start filming to see how it looked as
a music video. Once we sat down and pieced the footage we procured it was clear that it
wasn’t the best of quality and the roles did not suit us which made the footage look
unprofessional. With the people in our group we felt the song was too much in the chart
culture rather than hip hop and this obviously posed a problem. Even though we knew this we
still needed an external member to back up how we was feeling. I sent an email to a few close
friends to see how they would react and they reacted exactly how we thought they would and
said it just did not quite fit. With the limited time we had left we asked the audience what style
would suit us more and rap was the definite answer. We all knew Ryan knew the rap industry
incredibly well and we showed him the feedback for the initial ideas and he came back with
the idea of whole lot of lovin by Travis Scott. We then did the same with this song regarding
filming a small segment to see how it looked and showed close friends and this time it came
back with positive comments. We now ran with the idea of whole lot of lovin and have not
looked back since.
5. DIGIPACK
With the digipack we knew that the feedback from the audience we marketed the product too
was vital due to the fact that the audience are the people viewing this product in the stores
therefore what they feel needs to be put across to us as a company as we need to put those
measures into place in order to maximise the probability that someone will pick this album
cover up. With this in mind Ryan created a focus group with enough people to get the general
consensus on how people feel about what he had created. The feedback we got was positive
mostly with people commenting on how the colour way fit the brand image we are trying to
create. The other bit of positive feedback we obtained was that the product did indeed look
professional and as a start up company this was most definitely the type of reaction we would
want on something like this. However there were some negative comments. One of the
members of the focus group said it was boring and gave it a 2/10 and another member said
she did not get what it was about. However we later realised that these members were not at
all into the rap genre and this would have had an effect on the way they viewed this cover.
With the comments we got we all believed that the final product was definitely good enough to
put on the shelves
7. MAGAZINE AD
• Similar to the digipack we needed external help in order to know if the piece would be
effective or not. We started off with a very bland and boring piece as we was not quite
sure on how to create a magazine advert. However we got in contact with a teacher and
the teacher informed us on what we need to add to this dull piece for it to be deemed as a
good piece of work. With the comments we received we set out making another magazine
advert and once again fed back to our teacher once again the piece was not up to scratch
however it showed major improvement with comments only on the colour way of the
advertisement. Once I put the implications in guided by my teacher we came up with a
piece that we felt was effective and as younger individuals we are aware that social media
holds an enormous platform and it plays a huge role in people of todays lives. With this in
mind we thought we would use our social media page in order to see the responses of
consumer in a way which is quick and free. The feedback we got was incredibly positive
with comments saying how this piece allowed them to be excited for the release and how
‘clean’ it looked. With these comments we received we felt like the advert was at a good
enough standard to use for our project.

9. FIRST DRAFT FEEDBACK
• One of the biggest part of this project is the final piece it is vital we get this right in order
to gain that and we were aware that we were not going to get it right first time. With this in
mind we went to our peers seeking advice as they have been through the process and
know what to look for and can be critical on our product. We filmed this using a sound clip
in order to monitor what they can say so when we are looking at our first draft we know
exactly what we need to work on. One major attribute we have as a group is an
exceptional editor and this is what is going to set us aside from the other groups. However
the focus group we strung together said the video had been over edited and sometimes
less is more, one key point that stood out to us was the fact that they said the editing of
the first draft did not coincide with the style of editing seen in before clips. This was
important to us because we want to keep continuity as we wanted to remain professional.
This information helped us as we then took out some of the added edits and in stead kept
it simple but adding a colour way which in this case was red which once again adds to
continuity as our brands colours are black and red. Overall this first bit of feedback was
incredibly helpful and allowed us to implicate some key changes to put into our second
draft.
10. SECOND DRAFT
• With the second draft we were aware that we could not show any members of the public.
With this in mind we thought it would be a good idea for one of the internal members to
review it however from an outside perspective. This would help as obviously we would
have our best interest at heart and are aware of what is required to reach the higher
marks. With the second draft we all came to the conclusion that is was in fact good
enough to display as our final piece. This is because the editing had been changed so its
not as aggressive, the lip syncing was all in place, and the aspects ben added all looked
incredibly professional. We also feel everything met the connotations of an actual hip hop
music video therefore making the piece effective.
