2. Initial Choice (Otis – Jay Z)
Firstly we chose to use the song “Otis” by Jay Z as it was an iconic song which we all liked,
however when we all sat down as a group and discussed the lyrics of the song we realised it was
unrealistic. We determined this as the lyrics didn’t have any dialogue we could film from and the
song was purely about showing off money which we as a group didn’t have so we couldn’t
provided the essential props to make the music video work.
3. Second Choice (Weekend – Mac Miller)
Our second choice of song was “weekend” by Mac Miller we thought this song could work to
begin with as it had a good dialogue which we could adapt to in our music video, however after
further research we decided as a group that a different song could possibly achieve higher
grades. We come to this conclusion as the beat was quite slow limiting the amount of shots we
could incorporate in our video.
4. Third Choice (Fade – Kanye West)
After failing with our first two choices we then move towards a more upbeat song so we could
maximize the amount of shots we use. After looking through various songs we all agreed that
“faded” by Kanye West would be a good upbeat song because it has a good dialogue allowing us
to create a memorable music video with a vast list of shots.
5. Final Choice (Supernova –Mr. Hudson Ft.
Kanye West)
We finally decided on the song (Supernova) by Mr. Hudson Ft. Kanye West as we thought as a
group with this song we could create the best music video possible, we also thought because of
our members of the group the lyrics and song in general would be easier and more realistically
portrayed than any of the other songs we originally chose.
