What is the song about?
The song Happier is about a break up, where the girlfriend leaves the boyfriend. Throughout
the song the artist expresses how he didn’t treat his girlfriend right and that now he sees
her much with a new man.
What is the video about?
Our video is going to amplify the meaning of the song, as we will be showing the ex-couple
and the new couple doing the same things together but the girl is much happier with her
new boyfriend. There will also be performance within the video from the artist.
Any potential negotiated or oppositional reading?
The video isn’t quite clear about why the couple brake up, therefor the audience could read
that they broke out because of them arguing but it would also imply that she was cheating
on him with her new boyfriend. This gives the audiences negotiated readings through the
video.
What is going to make our video iconic/ unique?
Our idea will be unique to this genre because we will be using slightly younger cast than
previous videos within the genre. We chose to do this so that it is more relatable to our
target audience which is between 15 and 25. Furthermore, the video will also be unique as it
creates enigma as to why the couple broke up, therefor some of the audience’s questions
won’t be answered.
