2. Task One
Genre characterisation – In our rough cut we have our artist hear
some bad news to do with his love life and then go onto showing his
feelings throughout the video. This technique is used a lot in R&B and
Pop music video’s, which ours is. Although unlike mainstream Pop and
R&B, we don’t have any dancing.
Visuals and Lyrics – There isn’t much of a relationship between our
visuals and lyrics. However at one point the artist is singing ‘I am so
lost’. Whilst singing this we see him walking alone looking like he
doesn’t know where he is going.
Visuals and Music – Our song has a slow beat throughout, because of
this our visuals are quite slow in the way the artist is moving. When it
gets to the chorus, the tempo picks up a bit, because of this we will
add extra footage to fit in with it using quicker cuts.
3. Selling the Artist – In our rough cut we quite a lot of close ups of the
artists face and actions. Also the artist is wearing the same clothes
throughout the video.
Voyeurism – There isn’t any voyeurism in our rough cut as all the
singing is directly aimed at the camera.
We are going to use the camera for an additional night to film some
extra bits for our video. Our main focus is to get something different for
our chorus compared to the verse’s as it seems very repetitive and a
bit boring. Instead, for the chorus we are going to do a flash back to
when the artist and girlfriend were still together and show them being
happy together to create a contrast in both scenes.
4. Task Two
For our ancillary texts we decided to get some pictures whilst filming of
the Artist so it links in well as he will be in the same location, wearing
the same costume. We are thinking about using these three photos or
something similar spread them across our digipak.
5. Task Three
As well as using Twitter for social use, Chris Brown uses it a lot to
promote and involve his fans into new products or videos he is
creating.
For example here he has posted a photo via Instagram to give a slight
peak at what will be contained in his new video.
7. Task Five
OKGo
1. OKGo’s star persona is extremely creative in the way they use
inivative ideas to make music.
2. I would describe their target audience as people who are very
different in the way they go about doing every day things. I think they
would be in the age group of about 16-25 year olds.
3. They are attempting to appeal to an alternative audience in the way
that their videos are like none other that I have ever seen. After
watching one of their videos I wondered how they could make a
different one which is still just as entertaining.
8. 4. I would describe our target audience of our music video is younger
adults, who understand the feeling of ‘being in love’ as this is what our
artist is portraying.
5. We are attempting to target this audience by using the lyrics and
visuals in a way which they will understand and be able to relate to so
that they find it more engaging and therefor hopefully more
entertaining.
