2. Who have we chosen?
This year we have chosen Weathered by Jack Garret for our piece.
The genre is Alternative
the reason behind this is because some of the lyrics
have strong ties to growing up such as “keep me young”
3. Concept
As we start to grow older we start to reflect more on how things have changed.
Our teenage years are a turning point in many of our lives and we wanted to
highlight a part of this. For us we started to look at the transition from boy to
man and this has become the focal point for our piece.
It is completely narrative with no performance element.
We have also chosen that some lyrics will be visualised within the video.
4. Concept
In our video we are going to use Kate’s brother sam to play a young boy and he
will be shown through home video style montages, we will then have an older
version of him recreating scenes such as the bowling alley with his girlfriend.
We will be focusing on montaging the transition and mirrors between the two
versions of the boy/man.
5. Where will it take
place?
Our two main locations are the bowling alley and the river.
We chose these locations as they follow the conventions we are trying to follow.
The River; location #1
The banks beside the river;
The bridge next to the river;
Jumping into the river;
In the river;
6. Location #2
The Bowling Alley;
Outside or near the bowling alley, for example up
the escalators/ near the shops
Bowling;
The games;
Photobooth;
7. How will it look?
We decided after filming some test shots that we will be filming a pop art filter
to then be manipulated further in editing later on. Here is an example of the
contrast between normal and pop art.
8. If there is a narrative, what will
it include?
In our video we decided to not include any performance as we felt this would
be more powerful. This way we could make the video more a visual of the
representation of the relationship we wished to create. Therefore inserting clips
of performance may distract from the factor that the video
9. How do you intend to represent your
artists/characters?
We have chosen to detach our artist from our piece by having no performance
in our video. We have done this to simply the song rather than our artist and his
lifestyle to give the song a deeper meaning.
Our characters will be shown as the average young person so that they are
relatable to everyone. This will allow us to extend our audience.
when we looked at the lyrics there was a heavy focus on youth and growing old
so we wanted to recreate “never settling down” by them recreating his
childhood and reflection.
10. Who is your target audience? How do
you intend to attract and address them
through the video?
Our main target audience is young females, as one of the main convention is
young love however another convention is of course boyhood, and the
transition from young boy to older boy. So for example girls similar to our main
female characters age, potentially may aspire to the relationship we create
between the two. However an alternative audience could be boys similar to the
young boys age, and the elder boys age. (artist has a strong male radio 1
following).
