1. Characters and Casting
In order for our music video to look effective we need to thoroughly think about our
characters and casting and then do auditions in order to find the best actors possible to fit
the roles.
Our music video has 2 main characters; a teenage boy and a teenage girl and we will also
have a group of teenage girls who we will use as extras.
Teenage boy:
The boy needs to be tall and aged 17/18 and he should look/act aggressive in order to fit in
with the aggressive boyfriend role in the video. He also needs to be able to have a serious
face and to be able to show a sad emotion to show the audience his emotions. As this is an
indie pop music video he will dress in typical indie clothing such as dark skinny jeans, and
plain t-shirt or band/logo tops.
We have 2 possible people for this role; Alex Onyejuba or Leo Eugster, and we did some
auditioning and finally decided that Leo will play the role of this. We have chosen Leo as he
was able to act more aggressive and angry and he showed his emotions well so this will
therefore help make the music video look more believable and will clearly show the
audience the boyfriend’s aggressive side.
Teenage girl:
The role of the teenage girl needs to age around 17/18 and she needs to be innocent and
sweet looking so that this can contrast with the aggressive angry boyfriend role. She will
need to be professional and able to act well in order for the music video to look good.
Harriet is going to be playing this role as she does A-level drama so we know she can act
convincingly. Furthermore as Harriet is producing the video with me she has a clear
understanding of what the video should look like and how her character should act.
Overall, from doing the auditions and thoroughly thinking about the casting it has allowed
us to know the characters more. Also, the auditioning has allowed us to find the best
possible people to fit the roles and this will ensure our video is professional and that it looks
effective and realistic.
