3. Introduction
Polymers are substances
which has a molecular
structure built up chiefly or
completely from a large
number of similar units
bonded together, e.g. many
synthetic, organic materials
used as plastics and resins.
4. Activities
Activity 1:
Changing
Polymer pellets-
We experimented
with polyacrylamide
pellets and learnt that
it can absorb water
200 times its size.
Activity 2: Hunting
for polymer
products-
We researched and
studied different
polymers like
polyethylene (PE),
poly vinyl
chloride(PVC) etc
Activity 3: Comparing
Viscosity of polymer
films-
We learnt property of
viscosity of polymers
with methanol, ethylene
glycol and glycerol. We
also learnt to prepare
and make polymer films.
5. Design Project:
Designing Humidity
Sensor-
We designed humidity
sensor from chemical
components like
polymers, 2-butanone
and cobalt chloride and
tested the presence of
moisture.
Activity 4: Testing
strength and stretch
ability of polymer
films- We also tested
the prepared films by
applying 200 g
weights to test
flexibility and
tensility of polymer
films.
7. Final Project:
Super glasses
Eye glasses used for players will
have chances of moisture
forming on their lens. It is also
not safe for them to use contact
lenses while playing as the dust
will spoil their sight. Our
product idea is to make moisture
free glasses for players using
polymers.
8. Super glasses
Hypothesis
We designed goggles with a lining of
poly-acrylamide layer on the edge of
the goggles. As the sports person is
always in motion, the moist formed
on the glasses is expected to be
absorbed by the layer which is coated
on the edges.

Methods and Materials
We use materials like
absorbing polymers egs;
polyacrylamide to line the
lower part of swimming
goggles to absorb the moisture
that line on the glass.
10. Super Glasses
Results
Our product idea will help the players
/ swimmers who uses goggles to
prevent dust or water from entering
their eyes while their activity.
Our product is toxic free and does not
affect eyes.
It is cheap / cost effective.
11. Super Glasses
Recommendations
Our product can be used for bikers ,
who go for long drives in moist
conditions or by sports bikers as they
move in high speed, when the
moisture builds faster inside their
goggles.
Also, we recommend our product for
divers who go into the ocean for
different applications in industry or in
search of pearl etc.
12. Conclusions
We performed activities with Al-Bairaq
and studied on polymers topic , which
was completely new topic for us.
We also studied to design new product;
find a problem, find a solution to the
problem, design a product that will solve
the problem, test the product and
evaluate it.
We designed our own product idea.
