3. Introduction
composites are materials made by combining
two or more natural or artificial elements (with
different physical or chemical properties)
The component materials don’t completely
blend or lose their individual identities; they
combine and contribute their most useful traits
to improve the outcome or final product
4. Activities
Exploring the difference between
strength and stiffness
Testing different kind of ice
Designing a fishing pole
Testing a Foam Composites for
Strength and Stiffness
5. Project Idea
Mind Water calcification
Introduction
Anyone who uses a kettle to boil water, will have seen the effects of
lime-scaling. In fact, in some areas around the world you only have
to turn on your water tap and, unless you immediately clean the sink
after use, the lime-scale deposits start forming—sometimes even
visible to the eye!
The reason for this is “water hardness”, which refers to the amount
of dissolved calcium and magnesium in the water. Hard water is
high in mineral content.
Water hardness cause a lot of damage to water pipelines, storage
tanks and home appliances.
Aim of the work
Our aim to combine several materials together to reduce the
formation of lime-scale
6. Mind Water calcification
Methods and Materials
We search for materials that prevent the lime-scale
from depositing into surfaces and also lightweight to
make water pipelines and tanks. These materials are;
1- Teflon; can prevent minerals from bonding with
surfaces and makes it easier to remove deposits in
case they do manage to stick.
2- Carbon steel; the core of the tube that is strong
and corrosion resistant
3- Silica; lightweight material that can be formed and
dyed

Results
Huge positive result and impact form this project are expected
when implemented’
1- Reduce drastically lime-scale formation
2- Reduce the damage to water pipelines and tanks
3- reduce the cost of maintenance of pipelines and tanks
4- Economic benefit nationwide to water supplying companies
8. Mind Water calcification
Recommendations
The project idea is proposed based on theoretical research
and studies, therefore its recommended to
1- Make and implement the project in real life for testing
2- Experiment with water from different resources
9. Conclusions
In conclusion, Al-Bairaq was a unique experience and a
unique way of learning through experiments
We learned a lot about composite materials and we were
able to come with a useful application that can help in many
aspects
