Done by Water group in Qatar Independent Technical School for Boys.
Concrete is a composite material composed of water, coarse granular material (the fine and coarse aggregate or filler) embedded in a hard matrix of material (the cement or binder) that fills the space among the aggregate particles and glues them together.
This module enables the students to study concrete properties in general through experiments done by the students.
Qatar is known to be a desert environment, free of fresh water. So why don’t we make use of rain in the northern places of Qatar and also sewage. Our project idea is about purifying water that comes from rain and sanitation and use it in agriculture.
We collect water in a huge concrete tank, water is then filtered and then directed to the farms to supply.

Conclusion
3. A cement is a binder, a substance that sets and hardens as
the cement dries and also reacts with carbon dioxide in the
air dependently, and can bind other materials together.

7. As you probably found
on your hunt,
concrete is used for
sidewalks, building
foundations, light
posts, and many other
structures.

10. Since ancient times, rock has been an important
infrastructure material.
We added steel and nails .
14. We place our concrete moulds and we put a weight of
water above them to test their strength, and the best
concrete mould is the one that’s holds up the longest.
15. That using nails and steel made concretes stronger and
hold a full bucket of water .
If we wanted to make it to a harder concrete we should
make a more connected material with steel because
nails are their own single parts and they made our
concrete not handle much because one of the groups
made it a very hard concrete that it stood for 2 buckets
of water and we learned our lesson after that day.
Concrete even thought it’s strength it’s not that strong
doesn’t mean that is useless we can use weak concrete
for a good cause .
17. Purifying Water for Agriculture
We have thought of not getting rid of sewage water
which was what a lot of countries did instead we created
an alternate solution for it and that’s by making it a
drinkable and more useful water
We first collect the sewage water and we make it one side
of the dam and then we have storage place to collect the
water after purification .

19. Our project results in more green land and farms that
is mainly supplied by wasted water.
Improve agriculture in Qatar.
20. We can improve the filter to purify water better
We recommend that you do more research about this
project
21. Many thanks to my teachers, school and Albairaq team from
Center for Advanced Materials (CAM), Qatar University for
supporting us during our journey with a Albairaq.
Also, I would like to thank the sponsors UNESCO, Ras Gas,
Shell and Qatar Petroleum.
