2. Primary Audience
Lego is mainly advised to children aged
between 6 to 14. There toys, games and
movie are all designed mainly for younger
children.
Secondary Audience
Like most toy company's the secondary
audience are parents/ adults. The Lego movie
and all there toys are enjoyed by people of all
ages.
3. Primary Audience
The primary audience for the harry potter
films are children. Ages 8 to 12.
Secondary Audience
The secondary audience is adults and
teenagers. As the films seem to take a darker
tone over time the films are very popular with
a 13 to 30 audience.
4. Primary Audience
The primary audience for the Spiderman
movies are children ages 6 to 13.
Secondary Audience
The secondary audience are mainly adults and
teenagers ages around 15 to 30. Adults are
likely to here about the films from there
5. Definition
When an audience immediately accepts and believes what they are told by the media
Example
In many Disney films they portray a “perfect” world. They portray girls to be unrealistic
princesses. And boys to be perfect princes. This shows kids a very unrealistic image of the
world.
6. Finding information
In order to find information I use Wikipedia to find information quickly. To find out more recent
world news, I’ll use BBC news.
Seeking advice or help with decision making
When seeking advice I’ll use YouTube help videos. When making a decision I’ll look at online
reviews on YouTube as well as Rotten Tomatoes if researching a film. Or Gamespot and IGN if
researching a game.
Satisfy curiosity
When looking to satisfy a curiosity I’ll look on a number of different websites depending on what
I'm trying to accomplish. I’ll look on Wikipedia if I want a brief overall look on the subject. I may
search on YouTube if I’m already slightly informed and want other peoples opinions. Websites like
IGN and Gamespot are used when looking opinions on new and old games. And websites like
Rotten Tomatoes and IMDB are used when looking for opinions on TV shows and movies. Both sites
have articles that are made to be binge read, and articles that are made for people looking up a
specific thing.
To learn
There are multiple ways I learn on the web. A brief example would be Google. You can pretty much
google anything and you’ll get what your looking for. However, most of the time you’ll end up on
the Wikipedia article. If not BBC News or the independent websites will most likely come up.
7. Reinforcing personal values
My personal values are reinforced in media with TV shows such as Breaking Bad, because it reminds
me how this world can be if I get dragged down the wrong path. Also I use music in general as an
outlet to keep myself centred.
Developing behavioural traits
My personal behaviour traits are massively influenced by the media I choose to associate myself
with. With TV shows such as Jackass, The Simpsons and South Park being the main shows I watch
on a regular basis. I feel like throughout my childhood and to this day these shows have developed
my sense of humour into what it is today. I also feel like music has had a massive part of
developing my behaviour traits. Music genres such as metal, nu metal, punk, rap and hip hop have
all had a part of developing who I am today.
Identify with valued other in the media (aspiration figure- real or fictional)
A good example of a person that I personally identify with is Jackass star, pro skater, singer and
song writer Bam Margera. I identify with him because his story is inspirational to me. He dropped
out of school at the age of 16 to become a professional skateboarder. He later got found by MTV
and joined the Jackass crew. Because of the success of the show and 3 movies he is now a multi
millionaire with his own brand of skateboards and clothing line.
8. Identifying with others
To identify with others on social media, I am part of groups on Facebook. On these groups you are
able to talk with other people about things/ subjects you are all interested in. For example, I am
part of multiple Rock/ metal groups, and I've found that being part of these groups gives you a
chance to communicate and discuss with like minded people, because you all have something in
common.
Belonging
A good example of what I use to feel like I belong is Facebook messenger. With Facebook
messenger you are able to talk with people one on one. Or you can create a group chat for an
upcoming event or friendship group.
Topic for social interaction
The best example of interacting on social media is the YouTube. On YouTube you can comment on
random peoples videos. You are also able to start conversations with them, and even private
message them.
A substitute for real-world companionship
A good example of substitute for real world companionship within social media would be YouTube.
On YouTube you can watch people go threw their daily lives, so some people get attached to these
the people that make these videos. Since the people making these videos are just regular people.
Some of their audience may feel that they truly know the people on the screen.
9. Escapism
The media I use to escape would be mainly the internet, movies and TV. I’ll play games as an
outlet Many games such as GTA help keep your mind of things. TV, movies and some
internet content help to escape in a different way though. When watching, You are able to
just back and relax as they take you into a different world.
Relaxation
To relax I listen to music. I find all different types of music to be therapeutic and a great way
of relaxation. I also watch TV, Movies and Videos on YouTube. Sometimes to relax, its best
to just do nothing. Just watching random things and not really fully paying attention is a
great way to relax. Also TV and movies and games create worlds that are for the most part
completely unrealistic, so its amazing to be able to explore these worlds.
10. Example
YouTube
What are the advantages to media producers?
The advantages to the media producers is free advertising. The producers will get more
customers, some of the YouTubers fans may decide to buy the game.
Why would the audience generate content?
A YouTuber may decide to start making videos because its something to do and its not
exactly difficult. All there doing is playing a game that they’ll be playing anyway, but just in
front of people. And depending on how big they become, they may even get paid to do this
.
