Summary: This is a Wikipedia page on the singer
and musician Dougie Poynter. It talks about
everything he has achieved in his life. I have taken
the page and highlighted the bits that I think would
be most important to look into. It talks about
everything from his time in ‘I’m A Celebrity..’ and
going to rehab, to his current relationship with Ellie
Goulding.

Quotes taken from an article where all the McFly boy talk about the release of their new album.
Article written by Louise Gannon for The Daily Mail Online.
Quotes:
• Jones adds, ‘We’d never have started out if it wasn’t for our record deal, and at the outset we were just grateful
for them wanting to sign us. You have to make compromises, but you live with it. We were marketed as a boy
band even though we write all our own music, we don’t dance and we play all our instruments.’
• ‘It’s amazing to have complete control. We flew to Australia to record our first album [Radio:ACTIVE] on our own
label. Everyone buzzed and gelled and the sound is amazing. We worked with one producer and spent ten
weeks together, working, surfing, hanging out, but just really excited about what we were doing.’
• Then Fletcher says something potentially worrying. ‘On our new video we wanted to spend more on
pyrotechnics. It was going to cost.’
• ‘Underneath it all it’s the thing that we all have in common. We were all just kids when we got together. We
weren’t into it for the fame; we were into it for the music and to change our lives.’
• ‘My priority was helping out my family,’ he says, ‘but also taking what I did seriously so I didn’t blow things. How
could I do that after what my parents sacrificed for me?’
Further Research:
As the article goes into more than just the album. It talks about their childhood and in one case,
one member wrote a song about their experiences as a child. I could do some further research into
their album and their producers as this might be able to give me some more information on other
artists that could be linked with McFly. The wikipedia entries definitely help me to gather more
information and I know that there is a lot of information which will take me in various directions.
One quote states that they had some money problems when making a video so could research
into how they managed overcome this problem as they became very successful in the end.

Summary: This is an online article about Dougie and
his girlfriend Ellie Goulding. It talks about a rumored
engagement and how the two of them have helped
each other overcome certain issues within their lives.
Neither of them have commented on the rumor yet
sources have discussed how they feel about each
other and the possibilities for the future.

Quotes:
• A source told LOOK magazine: "They must have talked about it. If Dougie was to ask, I'm almost certain Ellie’s
answer would be yes.”
• "Dougie's seen all of his friends get married and he'd surely love to do the same, for both of them it seems
they've found 'the one'.”
• A source said: "Ellie's had a difficult time over the years, especially when it comes to believing in herself.
"Dougie completely changed that. There's something very special about someone who understands what
you've
been through and he makes her feel beautiful every single day.”
•"With Dougie, they're on the same wave length and just chill. She can hang out in her gym kit with no make-up
on. He clearly adores her and she seems besotted with him."
Further Research:
I could look into the relationship that the two of them have, whether it
being in magazines, online or in books. This could help me to find more
about Dougie and his life. All of the quotes have come from sources
close to the couple, so I could try and dig further into who might have
said them and how they are associated with Dougie and Ellie.

Summary: This is an article about Dougie and
when he was crowned ‘King of the Jungle’ from
featuring in I’m A Celebrity.. It talks about his
time in the jungle and there are also various
quotes from him and fellow contestant Mark
Wright, who became very close. Lots of detail
about the bushtucker trial they did together. I
have broken the article down and highlighted
key words that I think would help me in future
research.

every minute of it.’
• He said: 'I didn't do anything, I felt like I just chilled in my hammock the whole time.’
• Mark enthused: 'It's the most amazing experience of my whole life.’
• Mark providing support by saying: 'It’s just a bit of meat, eat it like it is a bit of meat sitting here like we are having
a Chinese meal.’
Further Research:
As this article also talks about Mark Wright, a contestant in the show, I could do
some research into his background as this might be able to give me a better insight
of their friendship.

Summary: These are some screenshots from part of
an interview done by Glamour magazine to McFly. It
covers a range of topics such as their new album,
One Direction rumours as well as wedding plans and
their tour. As this interview covers a lot of information,
it would take a while to highlight all of the important
facts, but I have managed to highlight a few things
from a small section of the interview and I think that
with this interview, you can really get into their lives,
personally and professionally.

Quotes taken from a Glamour Magazine interview which talks about everything from their new
album, to wedding plans and One Direction.
Quotes:
• Tom: "It just felt like a good time to release one. We don't really count the first one. It doesn't really count. We
didn't want to release the first one…”
• Tom: "Well, we've written a lot. We're going back into the studio and writing from January to early April, just kind
of solidly working on the album. So I think we're at the point now where we need to refine what we've already
written. That's where we're at.”
• Dougie: "When we're writing, there's been at least ten songs where we've been, 'Oh my God, this would sound
awesome with a chick singing on it as well.' But it just never happened. Girls don't like us. Girls don't talk to us,
so… If you know any girls… Tell them we need them. We need their vocal chords.”
• Danny: "We always try and write with, because us being in a band, you know, you want a bit of connection with
the sound. So if you've written with somebody, it's [both of] your creation. Rather than someone come in and
go,
'I've got a song for you, sing it, record it.' That's why we wanted the 1D boys to be involved as much as they
could.”
• Harry: "I think the guys will be pretty well behaved. If I'd gotten married five years ago, then all of us would have
been awful, including me! There's always one at every wedding isn't there? But I don't think it will be any of these
guys. I certainly hope it's not any of them!"
Further Research:
I could look into the life of Harry and his now wife Izzy and how the relationship
works around the band. As there has been some conflict about the songs they
write for One Direction, I could find the relevant news articles on them as this
could give me more information about it.

Summary: This video is a section from the Paul
O’Grady Show in December 2013. This was around
the time when they were starting to collaborate with
Busted members Matt Willis and James Bourne to
become McBusted.

Paul: ‘So is this the last single for you lads before you all merge?’
*cheers from audience*
Dougie: ‘Hurray for the merge!’
Harry: ‘Yeah, the whole thing has been completely crazy because
we recorded that song and some other songs and planned to go
ahead with the single and then had the McBusted idea to do a
tour and it’s completely surpassed our expectations. We put 11
dates on sale and we sold out like 35 now.’
Paul: ‘That’s what you want lads’
Tom: ‘Yeah we’re headlining Hyde Park..’
Danny: ‘Yeah! And we got some special guests, playing with us.’
Paul: ‘Who?’
Danny: ‘Backstreet Boys’
*cheers from audience*
Tom: ‘We really can’t believe it, it’s taken us by surprise.’
Paul: ‘Well you have been at it 10 years, you’re highly popular lets
face it.’
McFly: ‘Thanks.’
Harry: ‘I mean, Hyde Park for us is just a dream and obviously Matt
and James are joining us.’
*cheers from audience*
This section of the interview is talking about their collaboration
with Busted and their upcoming performance at Hyde Park.
They get some cheers from the audience which shows that they
have fans who are very excited about Matt and James joining
them.
11. Quotes:
Paul: ‘Have you got used to the new band name yet?’
Tom: ‘It’s the worst band name in history’
Paul: ‘Yeah McBusted, it sounds like a hamburger’
*laughs*
Tom: ‘It’s one of the things where it’s so bad, I actually like it’
Harry: ‘Kinda like McFly.’
…..
Danny: ‘Yeah it was funny because we were in the Royal Albert Hall, we turned up and it was just on the lights in the
background and we were like ‘ah yeah that’s cool’, and we did the show and the fans called it.’
Paul: ‘Something catchy and looks good in lights.. McBusted, nice and easy.’
…..
Paul: ‘We have a video of the first time you all played together. Let’s have a look.’
*Video of McBusted singing Year 3000 live*
*claps and cheers*
Paul: ‘Have you started rehearsal yet?’
Tom: ‘No, no we’ll start closer because if we start now we’ll forget by the time the tour comes round, but that was the first
time we’ve ever played together, like we’ve been friends and we’ve written for each others band for 10 years but never
performed and that was for our 10 year anniversary and the tour was born from that moment.’
…..
Paul: ’You guys are so clever, who came up with the name The Dinosaur That Pooped Christmas?’
Dougie: ‘Erm well that started off as a joke..’
Tom: ‘Yeah this is what happens when you have a lot of down time on tour buses and hotel rooms, you come up with stupid
things like pooping dinosaurs.’
Paul: ‘It’s brilliant! Kids love stuff like this.’
Tom; “I got told the other that like a 2 year old who’s first word he learnt was poo because of that book.’
Dougie: ‘Yes! Mission accomplished!.’
Summary: This interview carried on until they talk about the books that Dougie and Tom brought out. This is
something to look further into as it could lead to more information about why and how they decided to bring out
a book.
12. These slides contain all 10 questions
that I put into a questionnaire
about McFly. Within 24 hours I
managed to get 19 responses from
McFly fans which is a very good
amount of responses. I posted my
questionnaire on McFly Facebook
sites, Twitter and also on Instagram
as I left comments on photographs
of the band members with the link
in the comments. I also asked my
friends who are McFly fans to also
fill it out. I managed to get a wide
range of responses and it was very
interesting looking at the detail that
some people put into their answers.
What I found was that there are a
lot more female fans than male
fans and I think that this is because
they are all attractive, which is
what females like in a singer/boy
band. The mode age range is
between 16-20, which shows what
kind of audience they are aiming
at, teenage girls. I asked people
who their favourite member was
and there were a variety of
answers, but Dougie came out on
top with 48% of the vote. Danny
and Tom came joint with 15% each
whereas Harry only got 5%. My
candidates seemed to describe
Dougie as funny, cute and lovely
and he seems down to earth and I
think that this is something that
females find very attractive in a
man, which is probably why he’s so
popular.
13. I picked a variety of questions
that I knew would get
different responses. You often
hear about celebrities
influencing members of the
public, so I wanted to know
whether anybody felt this
way about the band. About
half of my candidates said
that they hadn’t influenced
them, yet some of them went
into great detail about how
they had changed their lives.
Dougie especially went
through a tough time with
depression and this is
something that a lot of
people go through, so it’s
nice to know that he has
helped some of my
candidates through the same
struggle. Some of them have
a lot to criticise them for and
it was interesting to know
what they thought, even
though they are a fan. Some
of them went into great
detail about how McFly
could improve themselves as
some would like them to go
back to being just McFly,
without Matt Willis and James
Bourne.
14. Most of my participants have been a fan of them since the
beginning and it shows that they are committed to the band
even now. I think that this helped me to gain some good
answers as they would have followed them all the way
through McFlys career, so would know a lot about them and
have a large opinion of them. As McBusted are going on tour
again, they have brought out a new song which feature all 6
members and I wanted their views on the new song. Quite of
few opinions are quite negative as they feel like McFly are
trying to go back to their first glory days and that the song is
rather juvenile for men progressing into their 30’s.
