Deaf Culture Discrimination
When terms such as discrimination and prejudice are heard; commonly, the example is racism.
However, discrimination and prejudice are similarly defined as: a preconceived negative judgment of
a group and its individual members. (Myers, Social Psychology, 2013, p. 336) Our minds, being
influenced by our environment and memories, tend to overlook other peer groups; specifically Deaf
culture. This paper will discuss: my personal experience, discrimination, and Deaf culture. In late
2016, I was granted the opportunity to attend an American Sign Language class, at my local
community college. Prior to this, I had only one experience meeting a deaf person. I was seventeen at
the time, working my first job. I felt like a deer caught in headlights, ... Show more content on

They consider it a lifestyle; separated from the hearing world. They have different beliefs, and social
behaviors. They value American Sign Language, and view it as an art form. An expressive language
used as their primary source of communication. Some believe that Deaf people should only marry
within their culture, some believe that using their voices is disrespectful. They have beliefs that deaf
should be capitalized when referring to people, but lowercase when referring to the diagnoses. They
have different terms for things such as: Audism. Audism is defined as: The notion that one is superior
based on one s ability to hear or to behave in the manner of one who hears. (Oberholtzer, Humphries
Audism Tags: deaf, faq, research guide , Doctoral dissertation, p.12. 1977, 2009) Most have respect
for the hearing world, and will treat hearing people with respect if the respect is returned.
Discrimination is a very prevalent problem in our society. Despite having a changed personal view of
Deaf culture, there are still battles being fought for the rights of humans. Humans that are just like
everyone else, but cannot hear. It is with hope that society will continue to educate about Deaf culture
in order to grow awareness, and provide a deeper, and more sympathetic

Essay On Operation Desert Shield
When the deadline for Iraq to withdraw from Kuwait was broken on January 12, 1990 the United
States Congress authorized the use of military force on Iraq for their actions against their neighbor
Kuwait. The UN created a coalition force which included over 30 nations led by the United States in
order to liberate Kuwait. The United States had amassed its forces along with the coalition forces in
Saudi Arabia on the border surrounding Kuwait and Southern Iraq before starting the Air Campaign
which decimated Iraqi forces on the ground and air. On the Morning of January 17, 1991 the Air
Campaign code named Operation Desert Shield began starting the war to liberate Kuwait. US aircraft
along with coalition forces began bombing strategic sites in Iraq to include: aircraft, anti aircraft

not far behind them. One Hundred hours after the Ground Campaign started on February 27, 1991
President Bush declared Kuwait liberated and the US forces along with the Coalition forces started
pulling back and moving more into a defensive posture protecting the borders until peace negotiations
were agreed to both between Iraq and the United Nations. The Conflict that happened between Iraq

An Analysis Of Ramayana By William Buck
Ramayana, translated by William Buck, is an ancient Indian epic telling the story of a prince named
Rama who fights against his adversary, Ravana. Although there are many important female characters
throughout the book, they are often seen as subordinate to their male counterparts where intelligence
and strength are concerned. One character who proves this stereotype wrong is Sita, Rama s wife, who
often shows that she has the capacity of being just as powerful as the men of the story. By being more
mindful than most people around her, Sita defies the expectations that many characters have placed on
her. Sita lets the reader see another side of women s power and shows us the strength that women
could have. The reason that Sita proves to be powerful is that she seems to have an understanding of
the deeper meaning of her life; precisely the quality that men don t expect her to have.
Many men in the epic dismiss women s abilities, or the possibility that they could be equals. Often,
they write women off as not being intelligent. When Vali, the monkey king s brother, tells his wife,
Tara, that the only reason to consult a woman is to find out what not to do (Buck 196), implying that
women cannot understand life or have authority. Vali completely ignores the validity of Tara s
argument because he perceives her, and all women, to be less intelligent than he. Vali s opinion in this
scene speaks to the larger view of women s intellect throughout this epic. Women are also

Innovation from the Point of View of Visual Arts
INTRODUCTION
Innovation is the creation of better or more effective products, processes, services, technologies, or
ideas that are accepted by markets, governments, and society. Innovation differs from invention in that
innovation refers to the use of a new idea or method, whereas invention refers more directly to the
creation of the idea or method itself. Innovation and HRM

Proposed Approach addresses the above gaps and gives the LM the visibility to select the best talent.
We would require the following code changes to change the URL(Content Server) for the each
document.
For LM the each document link is coming from the Content server and the same link we are passing to

this functionality we used the Link to Action UI element for the attachments.
We created one custom method for the on action button ON_CLICK_ATTACH.

How Plants Grow Research Paper
Plants have many roles to play. Plants make food and oxygen, they provide shelter for animals, and
they make and preserve soil, and provide useful products for humans. Plants are the only organism
that is able to convert light energy from the sun into food. This process is called photosynthesis. The
food that we eat is produced by plants. Humans need oxygen to live. This oxygen comes from plants.
Oxygen is produced when plants make food. Animals often use plants for their shelter and their food
source. Plants roots help hold the soil together and also help make soil. Plants help humans more than
just the oxygen they produce. They also produce food, fibers, medicines, and energy. Animals and
humans depend greatly on the roles of plants. (1) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First off, the temperature needs to be right. If it is too high or too low it will result in abdominal
development. Flowers and vegetables that grow in different seasons, require a different temperature.
Warm season vegetables and flowers grow best in 60o F, 75o F, and 80o F. Cool season vegetables and
flowers grow best in 50o F and 70o F. Plants require large amounts of sunlight to grow. Indoor light
often does not provide enough intensity. During the hot summer months, plants need at least one half
gallon of water each day. If plants do not receive enough water each day, their roots will dry out and
they will die. Just like humans, plants also need oxygen to survive. They use oxygen for respiration to
carry out their functions. Plants absorb minerals through their roots. They need these minerals to
survive. Some of the specific minerals they need is soil, fertilizer, manure, compost, fertilizer salts.
Finally, plants need support. Their basic support is soil that surrounds their roots. They also have
hydroponically supports that include, strings or stakes.

The Pros And Cons Of Mothers Against Drunk Driving
On February 3, 2017, Tim Piazza, a sophomore here at Penn State, tragically lost his life at the Beta
Theta Pi fraternity house. This horrific event was a result of irresponsible consumption of alcohol and
binge drinking. Sadly, this is not an isolated incident. Around the nation, countless young adults have
lost their life due to the thoughtless consumption of alcohol. Unfortunately, the common census
between the majority of the average day Americans is that the most effective way to make drinking
safer for young adults is enforcing a minimum drinking age of twenty one. This law, as well as the
common census, are a direct result from the efforts of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) more
than thirty years ago ( Drinking Culture ). MADD s objective and goal is quite understandable; they
want the young adults of today s world to be safe and not put themselves into dangerous situations
with alcohol, but they doing more harm than good. ( The Problem ). Safety is the single objective from
each side in this argument, but MADD s flawed logic and ignorance to reality has formed a belief that
results in an unsafe drinking culture, resulting in more deaths, such as the tragic passing of Tim
Piazza, unless the drinking age is lowered to eighteen, as well as establishing an open dialogue about
drinking itself. Mothers Against Drunk Driving aims to create the safest possible environment for a
young adults to develop, but their argument contains a sense of ignorance to the reality

An Internet Address For Example Essay
An Internet address (for example, http://sju.com/men/), usually consisting of the access protocol
(HTTP), the domain name(sju.com), and optionally the path to a file or resource residing on the server
where the domain name resides (nest). A common way to get to a Web site is to enter the URL of its
home page file in your Web browser s address line. However, any file within that Web site can also be
specified with a URL. Such a file might be any Web (HTML) page other than the home page, an
image file, or a program such as a common gateway interface application or Java applet. The URL
contains the name of the protocol to be used to access the file resource, a domain name that identifies
a specific computer on the Internet, and a pathname, a hierarchical description that specifies the
location of a file on that computer.
Importance of URLs for analysts: URLs are fundamental to the internet. And, while websites are
having their digital dominance chipped away by social media and mobile apps, URLs remain a core
component of the Language of Digital. The information generated by the cookie about your use of our
website including the IP address will be transmitted to and stored on servers. Analysts will use this
information for the purpose of evaluating your use of our website, compiling reports on website

One of the most common errors noted in coding for gastroenterology includes miscoding colonoscopy
procedures for asymptomatic patients in terms of the nature of the screening and whether it should be
coded as a surveillance or screening colonoscopy. The immense scope of payable categories within the
field requires a broad familiarity with new and updated codes in order to deter denials and protect
reimbursements. Even supply items can be cause for rejection if coders are not current with
guidelines. One of the most rejected supply claims includes a PEG J being claimed to the wrong

PEG Js must be claimed as a supply to the A/B MAC contractor. PDN understands the many

The Patriot Act Through Congress Essay
There is no denying the events occurring on September 11, 2001 changed the world as we knew it.
Over 3,000 people lost their lives because of them, and countless others were severely impacted as
well. These attacks saw immediate changes to the way people traveled to, from and in America. Most
importantly, these attacks were deliberate, precisely planned and executed. But by who? Now, before
jumping to the automatic assumption that the 9/11 commision report is completely honest and
accurate, please continue reading this essay with an open mind as I shed light on the fact that United
States government was actually behind the whole thing. Thinking about the government knowing
about these attacks and doing nothing about it is sickening. Nobody wants to believe it, and that makes
it all the ever more important. The first thing that may come to mind when trying to comprehend this
idea is, why would the government want to do something like this anyway? One theory suggests that
they needed to push the Patriot Act through congress. The Patriot Act s title is a ten letter backronym
(USA PATRIOT) which stands for Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate
Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act of 2001 . It was signed by former President
George W. Bush in October of 2001. Another theory suggests that the United States government
needed to justify the invasion of Afghanistan in 2001 and Iraq in 2003. Nothing fires up patriotism
like an attack on our own

Irish Music is Fighting Strong in the 21st Century A young American man walks down a busy city
street whistling Loch Loman, while a Japanese woman on the other side of the globe is humming to

people all over the globe from those locally born to those of no Irish ancestry whatsoever. It has
bespoken of culture and the proud heritage of the Irish. Song in and of itself is a force to be reckoned

Some of the Irish tunes, though perhaps honestly expressive of the flawed human heart, may stray a
little far. Since a common theme in traditional Irish music (and arguably, most genres of music) is
romantic interest, it is not uncommon to hear infidelity eluded to or spoken of directly in a ballad like
Ride On (Celtic Women Destiny ). In a version sung by the music group Celtic Women, the down
trodden melody mentions a suggestive line at least once in the course of its lyrics (Celtic Woman
Destiny ). People s objections to this is are understandable and perfectly legitimate. However, one
could argue that this music can still be enjoyed, it just requires discretion. Due to the many depressing
topics featured in Irish music, people may be less inclined to absorb the sense of emanating sadness
which the songs convey. It is true that many Irish melodies seem to be a bit dark or sad, in part to their
slower, more dramatic pace. There are, however, pieces of Irish music which many times employ the
use of the fiddle. There is also always the potential that audiences may just have other musical tastes,
which could be summed up in One man s junk is another man s

There is a strong connection between the senses and the formation of our perception. Traditionally, the
sense categories are known as sight, smell, sound, taste and touch. The modern perspective views the
senses as systems in which information about our external world is acquired; visual, auditory,
olfactory, gestation and haptic (tactile) systems. Architecture in the sense of environmental design is
the art of nourishing these senses. In order to receive information from the environment, each sense

My Motorcycle Wreck
All my life I have been around motorcycles. My father used to let me ride on the back with him when
I was a young child. I remember the feeling that I would get when he would accelerate. As soon as I
could touch the ground, I owned a dirt bike. I used to love going fast and wheeling down the road for
the neighborhood girls to see. We used to spend hours working on bikes together. That is when I
started to become obsessed with motorcycles.
January 31st, 2016 is the day that I got my first motorcycle. It was the day my fiancé and I were
moving to Jacksonville, Florida. We drove for about twenty minutes, until I got a call from my cousin.
He said, Cody I will trade my motorcycle for your car. So, we met in the Walmart parking lot in Hot
Springs Village, Arkansas. When he pulled up with the motorcycle, I was excited. Then, I took a joy
ride around the parking lot. I could not believe I finally could have my own motorcycle. I traded my
car with a bad transmission for the bike. We were barely able to pick the back of the bike up to get it
in the U Haul truck. When we got here the movers had beat us here, and were waiting impatiently. So,
when we opened the back of the truck and they saw my heavy motorcycle they were thrilled.
Five months later, I have been living here for a little while now and driving my motorcycle
everywhere has become normal for me. One night, I was on my way to work at the nursing home. I

Gran Torino Mise En Scene Analysis Essay
Gran Torino (2008) is best known for the significant theme of redemption and violence, which is
highly empathised throughout the film in sundry scenes. This can be further explained as the story
gradually progresses, and highly demonstrates Walt Kowalski as a defined individual. There are many
mise en elements which display the story and the significance of the theme redemption and violence.
The three mise en scene elements which empathise on the factors of the theme redemption and
violence are lighting, camera angles and props. The director (Clint Eastwood) also known as the star
of the film, highly utilised the vast elements of mise en scene, which is portrayed though scenes one

Lighting is a great example used to express the feelings of Thao as he was in the dark and unsure
about the acts he was portraying. The acts portrayed by Thao were out of character as they did not fit

scared and caring personality. The depth of the darkness in the scene also displays the darkness of
what Thao feels at that moment in the scene. Throughout the scene there is only one light (yellow)

displayed throughout the scene expresses their action as Walt was about to shoot Thao but he escaped

good of Thao as he was not afraid from the Hmong gang members anymore. Walt is known to be Thao

What Is Literary Devices In The Ones Who Walk Away From...
Nothing in the world is perfect. In The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas, LeGuin Ursula shows
how Omelas is a utopia, but their flaw is in the basement. LeGuin s persuades throughout the story of
Omelas that wherever there is light there is darkness. Within The Ones Who Walk Away From
Omelas, LeGuin uses multiple points of views and would sometimes ask the reader questions midway
through the story. Through the word choices and diction used, LeGuin makes the sentence powerful.
From the use of multiple strategies in the text, such as transitions, formal/informal language, and word
choice, LeGuin makes this story open for readers to let them think about what it means to be happy.
LeGuin says Joyous! How is one to tell about joy? How to describe the citizens of Omelas? , this is an
uncommon way to phrase the sentence. By having an uncommon sentence structure, the reader is now
thinking that they are a part of the story. It is stated All ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

creating the thought of a town similar to a fairy tale to the reader. Through the connotation of these
words, it shows how LeGuin views the treatment of the child as something dark and sinister, almost
evil. LeGuin had shifted the imagery unexpectedly from a pleasant, happy town into a dark and
horrible town. At the beginning of the story, it starts that the people of Omelas celebrate is that of life,

The Largest Feast May Not Cure Hunger
The Largest Feast May Not Cure Hunger Ernest Hemingway discusses the theme of hunger
throughout A moveable feast by exploring and describing the different types of hunger that he felt. He
aims to explore this theme in the passage where he strolls with Hadley, and they stop to eat at the
restaurant Michaud s. Through repetition and use of unconventional detail and word choice,
Hemingway shows that he has more than one type of hunger, and needs to differentiate between them.
Hemingway strives to tell that hunger is a feeling that is deep within someone, that changes depending
on the situation and varies in intensity and meaning. In order to stress the various types of hunger that
he felt, Hemingway uses repetition. He uses this device ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hemingway described the family s features, yet he does not describe them as well fed people. One
might think that if Joyce has the means to eat regularly in expensive restaurants, his wife would not
eat delicately and he won would not be thin. However, Hemingway chose these descriptions because
eating does not equate to fulfilling every type of hunger. Hemingway also explores whether other
people felt the same kind of hungers in other parts of the novel when he writes, I used to wonder if
[Cézanne] were hungry too when he painted; but I thought possibly he had only forgotten to eat. It
was one of those unsound but illuminating thoughts you have when you have been sleepless or
hungry. Later I thought Cézanne was probably hungry in a different way (Hemingway 69).
Hemingway can relate to Cézanne s feeling because he has felt the same. Being hungry does not
always mean that one has simply not eaten. He showed that Cézanne had a hunger to paint and to
create; this is similar to Hemingway s hunger. Hunger is often unpleasant, yet Hemingway knew that
it could yield effects that were pleasurable, such as the creation of new works. He uses the word

Essay A. Marcello Oboe Concerto in D Minor

From the journal of Antonio Vivaldi
December 12, 1717
As noted in a previous journal entry, I had made a trip to Cöthen where the great composer, Johann
Sebastian Bach, is under the service of Prince Leopold. There I heard a recent keyboard transcription
of Bach s. The transcription was of a piece called Concerto in D minor for Oboe, Strings and Basso
Continuo. Bach listed the composer as the well known Venetian composer Benedetto Marcello. As I
listened to the piece, I was captured by the simple yet eloquent melodies that were presented but I also
was curious as I had not known of Benedetto to write for oboe. I also know that Marcello stated,

There are three Marcello brothers, Alessandro, Benedetto and Girolamo, who were born of nobility
here in Venice. Benedetto is well known for his music. Alessandro composes also but his interests
actually lie more with philosophy, mathematics, history, chemistry, painting and poetry. Alessandro
has a small body of work in music. This is probably due to him being much more of a figure head in
the Venetian government since his father passed away in 1707. Benedetto has a much larger body of
work composing of many instrumental and sacred vocal pieces. I recalled that considering the
academic pursuits of the Marcellos, that it was possible that they were members of the Arcadian
colony. The Arcadians were a new movement of intellectuals that emphasized the respect of artistic
achievement and a return to the Greek ideals that music and poetry worked together. They also wished
to avoid lavish displays and encouraged simplicity. The Arcadians would also use pseudonyms and I
discovered that the pseudonym of Eterio Stinfalico belonged to Alessandro Marcello.
Now that I learned who the true author was, I went to seek out Alessandro. It is typical of nobles such
as the Marcello to conduct concerts in their home. I went to the Palazzo Marcello and discovered a
concert was being performed that had the concerto on its program. The oboist was unknown to me.
The audience contained mostly nobles and government

Course Taking And Apparatus Set Up
Course taking and apparatus set up will be the first steps in this project. For safety measures, the
apparatus needs to be reinstalled under the fume hood. Basic pretreatment processes will be carried
out in order to prepare the biosorbents for adsorption. Aiming to check the reliability of the system
and find possible pitfalls, some preliminary tests will be run, and the results will be analyzed. Once
the reliability of the apparatus, repeatability of the process, and standard operating procedure are
determined, the next phase of the project will be commenced.
5.2 Phase 2
In this phase, the experiments will be focused on single component and binary systems. Firstly, pure
methane will be fed into the column and the adsorption process will be investigated. Afterwards, the
same experiments at similar conditions will be carried out using pure water vapor. Based on the result
of these experiments, a new set of experiments will be designed and carried out for binary systems
(Methane and water vapor). Equilibrium and kinetics will be studied. Dynamic studies will be
accomplished. Generally, the performance of Flax Shive and Oat Hulls in PSA process will be
determined.
5.3 Phase 3
To further investigate the adsorption process, various isotherms will be fitted on the experimental data.
Equilibrium capacity, uptake of species, diffusion constants, and selectivity will be calculated. Based
on these results, the nature of the adsorption process will be determined. Afterwards, a set

The South, old and new, is an important theme of the play. Blanche and her sister come from a dying

is completely ignorant on business matters. Stanley is no expert, but his basic approach is that of a
new world, the real world in which Blanch is so unable to survive.
Blanch has suffered terribly; we have only seen hints of it so far, but later we will learn more about the
depths of her loneliness. Loneliness and desire are integral to Blanche s being. She chose the harsh
road of staying at Belle Reve to care for the dying, and she has suffered because of it. For many years,
she was a delicate young woman who lived alone in a house full of the terminally ill.
There is both honesty and illusion in her comments about the sincerity of the suffering. On one hand,
Blanche is very insincere. She has dealt with her suffering by making believe, by taking refuge in
fanciful dreams about herself and her surroundings. She lies about her age.

1. What is a data warehouse and why is REI building one?
A data warehouse is unique kind of a database where current and historical data about a certain group
of people such as customers, is stored. Information from operational systems, such as transaction
processing systems, is extracted and summarised then stored in in a data warehouse. This type of
information includes records about customer interaction patens, customer purchasing history or trends

Reduced risks and costs will make it easier for REI business expansion without fear of risks involved

4. What are some of the ricks or concerns surrounding the creation of a data warehouse?
Risks of warehousing involve: Lack of strong sponsor or sponsor not at high enough level to get
people motivated.
Lack of proper skills and experience. Most people have to go through at least one failure before they
understand how different a data warehouse is from a transaction processing system or small data mart.
You can have wonderful logical models, but turning those into an efficient, integrated, enterprise wide

Comparing Love In Her And Arthur Hiller s Love Story
I ve always had mixed feelings when it came to films about love. For me, the idea of love can be
presented is such a basic way it becomes obvious to what will happen next. Essentially, I get bored
with the same old generic portrayal on what love should look like or be. Spike Jonze s Her and Arthur
Hiller s Love Story was such a refreshing take on how love can come in all forms and doesn t need to
follow a sort of guideline, like every other love film seems to be. It was interesting to view the
contrast in the two films. Though very different, there were many aspects to the plot and the characters
Theodore (Joaquin Phoenix) and Oliver (Ryan O Neal) that were notably similar. What I loved about

shock and denial saying That s impossible! Shes only 24! . The scene truly displayed how traumatic
this news was on him, and his performance delivered the feelings of sadness and frustration even for
me as the viewer to experience. The end of the film showing the two lovers in the hospital without a
doubt brought out the most of Oliver s emotions. He began crying to Jenny, blaming himself, and
wishing that she wasn t on her death bed. As heartbroken as he was, he had to remain strong and
comfort her in the last moments of her life. Interestly enough, I found the ending of Her to be very
similar to Love Story. Even though Samantha doesn t necessarily die, she has no choice but to go,
leaving Theodore devastated. The reaction Theodore had of Samatha leaving easily shows the pain
someone could feel when they ve lost an important person. Both Phoenix and O Neal displayed this

Investigating The Correlation Between Surface Area And Volume
AIM
To investigate the relationships between the shape of an object and the time taken for a substance to
diffuse into its center and to investigate the correlation between surface area and volume in regards to
cellular transport.
BACKGROUND THEORY / INTRODUCTION
Cells are the basic unit of life of which all living organisms are built upon, they are the smallest living
organizational unit and they all come from pre existing cells which has been supported by several
scientists in the formation of cell theory [Biological physics, 2013]. The structure of a cell is strongly
correlated with its function and the way it acts in relation to other cells and biological processes such
as diffusion. Cells are specialized for many different purposes and their structures reflect these
functions. Every living organism can be classified into two different cell groups; eukaryote cells and
prokaryote cells.
Image 1 [Biochemanics, 2014]
In the comparison image between prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells it highlights the specialised
structures of both cell types, the specialised cell structures allow cells to perform certain functions
needed in the organisms it contains. Prokaryotic cells contain flagella which eukaryotic cells do not
and eukaryotic cells have many important structures such as the nucleus or information processing
centre of the cell.
Eukaryotic cells have a defined nucleus and their cytoplasm contains specialized organelles bound to

The Pros And Cons Of Child Pornography
In most states, teenagers who send or receive sexually explicit photographs via cell
phone, known as sexting , risk felony child pornography charges and the stigma of being listed
on the sex offender registry for life. The fact that sexting can fall under child pornography laws
has created some heated conversations and understandably so. There are numerous thoughts and
opinions on the matter. The majority of the time, sexting in teenagers isn t meant to be
malicious, isn t child pornography therefore shouldn t carry such a like punishment.
Teenagers sending a sext to another teenager isn t meant as a malicious act but rather a
way of flirting and letting the other person know they are interested in them in most cases.
While this behavior may cross moral lines it should not ruin their lives as a blatant crossing of
legal lines. If messages containing sexually explicit pictures, or videos are sent between teens
are meant to hurt someones reputation then that is a different story. Many states today are
struggling to write laws that create clear lines regarding this problem. Sexting can be very
serious and certainly needs to be addressed however, in the meantime, we cannot be putting
children behinds bars or labeling them as sex offenders.
Typical teenage sexting is not child pornography. Child pornography is a criminal
offense and is defined by HG.org as any visual depiction involving the use of a minor, or one
appearing to be a minor, engaging in sexually explicit conduct. Visual depictions include
photographs, film, video, pictures or computer generated images or pictures, whether made or
produced by electronic, mechanical, or other means. This is a clear definition of an act. Sexting
with teenagers today is more of a flirtatious way to start a relationship or to maintain a
3
relationship with another teenager. Most sext messages contain images meant to entice the other
person into wanting to spend more time with the sending individual. They are desires to
attract another, not images of sexual acts and therefore should not be considered child
pornography.
Sexting laws are very new and are not clearly defined yet, therefore should not

The Church Must Catch Up
In today s modern world there is a clear rise of unbelief and modern culture is increasingly leaning
more towards the secular. Richard J. Bernstein, discusses how the shift to secularity consists of a move
from a society where belief in God is unchallenged and indeed, unproblematic, to one in which it is
understood to be one option among others, and frequently not the easiest to embrace . Less people are
attending church and more individuals are seeking resolution and purpose else where. Despite the
secularization that is evident within modern society, there are new cultural practices and changing
beliefs that are being implemented within the church to bridge this secular divide. This is
demonstrated through individual religious organizations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I personally feel as though both of these examples have their positive and negative impacts when it
comes to reinstating religion in to a very secularized society. In reference to Reverend Gretta Vosper,
her failure to focus on an almighty God when it comes to preaching the Christian faith can be very
controversial. On one hand, it opens up the church to a wider population of individuals with an array
of beliefs, allowing Christianity to be a more universal religion. Providing the opportunity to still
practice Christian values and attend church without the requirement of a blind faith in a transcendent
being will help to reintegrate Christianity in to modern culture. One of the negatives to this is that
individuals who believe strongly in an omnipotent God can feel as though their faith is being
diminished by not acknowledging that He exists. However, in relation to bridging the religious and
secular divide I feel as though providing an array of opportunities for individuals to engage in and
practice the Christian faith is more beneficial. In regards to Pope Francis and his push for new reforms
in order to ordain married men and women, I feel as though again it is a step towards closing the
divide between religion and the secular. Pope Francis is someone who is filled with charisma and is

Architect of the Byzantine Legacy Essay examples
Architect of the Byzantine Legacy
Byzantine Emperor Justinian was the bold architect of a revitalized Byzantine Empire that would
leave a lasting legacy for Western Civilization. As much of Europe entered the Dark Ages, Justinian s
vision of a restored Roman Empire would reverse the decline of the Byzantine Empire and lay a firm
foundation that would allow the Byzantine Empire to survive for centuries to come.
Justinian, whose full name was Flavius Anicius Julianus Justinianus, was born around 483 AD at

(present day Istanbul in modern day Turkey) was renamed Constantinople and made the new capital of

From its peak under the Roman Emperors Constantine and Diocletian in the 300 s, Rome importance
in the Empire began to shrink. The commercial and cultural growth of the provinces in Greece and the
Near East had eclipsed the once robust culture of Rome, where growing trade with the Far East was
creating new wealth. The Christian emperors felt more at home in the East, where Christianity, the

Forced from their homelands in Central and Eastern Europe by the savagery of the invading Huns,
Germanic barbarian tribes invaded the western territories of the Empire. Under constant attack, the
western Empire began to shrink, losing centuries worth of territorial gains in Britain, Gaul, Spain, and

released by naturally rewarding experiences such as food, sex, abuse of drugs (like cocaine and
amphetamines), and neural stimuli that become associated with them (Dopamine). It s often discussed
in terms of drugs and in relation to neurobiological theories of addiction, which argue that these
dopamine pathways are pathologically altered in addicted people (Dopamine). If an owner were to
reward his or her puppy because it peed on the floor, he or she cannot blame the creature for its bad
habits. This is why it is so difficult for addicts to quit. But because humans have a sense of awareness,
they are able to control their decisions. Psychoactive drugs are believed to exert their euphoric effects
by stimulating dopamine release. Release of the neurotransmitter results in feelings of pleasure and
reward and contributes to reinforcement of the behavior that led to dopamine release (Clouse). These
drugs are used to treat mental disorders such as schizophrenia or bipolar. However, dopamine is not
just the reward chemical , but, as more evidence has shown, it is also released when unpleasant or
aversive stimuli are encountered (Dopamine). Drugs that are known to reduce dopamine activity (such
as antipsychotics) have proven to reduce desire for pleasure (Dopamine). Many of these drugs are
used to treat

Summary Of The Chemistry Of Ferrioxalate
The goal of this experiment is to prepare a photosensitive solution and explore its properties. While
analyzing the solution, one will learn how to successfully handle these sensitive chemicals and then
establish its properties via spectrophotometry.
Introduction1
During this experiment, a ferrioxalate solution will be produced from a solution of ferric nitrate that is
reacted with oxalic acid. In order to become and oxalate ion, the oxalic acid can donate up to two
protons. Ferrioxalate, or tris(oxalate)ferrate(III), is the product of three oxalate ions on Fe(III), as seen
in the figure below2:
Ferrioxalate as an ion can undergo a photochemical reaction if it is exposed to light which results in
the rather unstable complex of diaquabis(oxalate)ferrate(II) ion. There is no visible change when the
reaction occurs since both the reactants and products are colourless. The second solution, potassium
ferricyanide, will be prepared and used to test the extent of the photochemical reaction by adding it to
the first solution, ferrioxalate. The ferrioxalate solution will be tested with different colours and
exposure times of light. We will also establish what colours of light it absorbs by using
spectrophotometry. When exposed to light the ferrioxalate solution will undergo a reaction and
produce diaquabis(oxalate)ferrate(II) ion. Adding the ferricyanide solution allows us to see the
changes that are occurring. The ferricyanide reacts with the Fe2+ of the photo reacted product,

The History Of World War II
To begin with second World war, or the largest war in the history of mankind, began on 1 September
1939 till 1945. It involved almost every part of the earth. World war 2 was the bloodiest conflict, more
than 40 million were found killed. The principal belligerents were the Axis powers Germany, Italy,
and Japan and the Allies France, Great Britain, the United States, the Soviet Union, and, to a lesser
extent, China. The war was in many respects a continuation, after an uneasy 20 year hiatus, of the
disputes left unsettled by World War II (Royde Smith). First of all, German on September 1 invaded
Poland. After that British and France declared war on September 3. In April and June 1940, German
troops occupied Denmark and Norway, on May 10, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mass expulsion of the enemy from the territory of the USSR began. The Battle of Kursk (1943) and
the access to the Dnieper was completed by a radical change during the Great Patriotic War. The battle
for the Dnieper (1943) overturned the enemy s calculations for conducting a protracted war. July 25,
1943, the fascist regime in Italy collapsed, on September 3, she concluded a truce with the Allies. The
withdrawal of Italy from the war marked the beginning of the disintegration of the fascist bloc.
October 13 Italy declared war on Germany. German fascist troops occupied its territory. In September,
the Allies landed in Italy, but could not break the defense of the German troops and in December
suspended active operations. In the Pacific and in Asia, Japan sought to retain the territories captured
in 1941 1942, without weakening the groupings at the borders of the USSR. The Allies, having begun
the offensive in the fall of 1942 in the Pacific Ocean, seized the island of Guadalcanal (February
1943), landed on New Guinea, liberated the Aleutian Islands. In April May 1945, the Soviet Armed
Forces defeated the last groupings of German fascist

Women s Athletic Teams For Women
Over 400 Division I men s athletic teams have been disbanded from existence since the inception of
Title IX. Title IX, implemented in 1972, is a comprehensive federal law that prohibits discrimination
on the basis of sex in any federally funded education program or activity. (Keating) Title IX has
achieved great success with women s sports since the inception and the number of females in sports is
six times greater since the inception of Title IX (diversity.siu.edu). Although it has had great strides
with women, it is disadvantaging men, especially in athletics. Title IX requires that colleges give the
same amount of scholarships to women as they do men. On paper, this seems to be a great idea, but
the consequences were never taken into consideration and caused tremendous problems. In order to
give the same amount of scholarships to men and women and be compliant with Title IX, men s
athletic teams have been cut in the process. Men losing the opportunity to receive scholarships for
their respective sport at a college of their choice and sports teams getting cut is an issue that needs to
be solved. Men s sports teams cannot keep on being cut, for there are ways in which Title IX must be
enhanced to benefit everyone. The problems of men s athletic teams being cut can be solved by
reducing outrageous spending, add women s programs, and give more control to colleges. Before Title
IX was created, fewer than 32,000 women took part in college athletics while over 170,000 men

Disruptive Students Place In Alternative Schools
School can become tedious. Everyone can agree with that, yet students know they must endure the
long days and heavy workloads to further their education and stay out of trouble. Those who refuse to
behave have no concept of the consequences of their disorderly actions. These students continually
disrupt classrooms and prohibit others from receiving a full education. In addition to being a
distraction, they can also pose a threat to the safety of their classmates. Alternative schools are a
logical solution. These correctional facilities are beneficial to not only the delinquent but also to the
community because they help to produce a productive member of society. Disruptive students should
be placed in alternative schools because it will allow ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For reasons unknown, some students simply cannot or choose not to behave during class. Caroleo
opens her article, An Examination of the Risks and Benefits of Alternative Education , with the claim,
One size education does not fit for all children and youth (35). It is true that blanket instruction does
not work for most at risk students. A specialized educational setting results in an increase in
supervision and guidance. Specialized settings lower the possibility of frequent outbursts; therefore,
placement into a smaller class would benefit the disruptive student. In most alternative classrooms, the
student teacher ratio is low. In a local alternative school hosted by New Brockton High School, the
class roster rarely reaches above ten students. Smaller settings allow teachers the chance to minimize
down time and focus on individuals. Increased one on one time allows students to find more
productive outlets for their excess energy. In addition to being beneficial for the troublesome student,
alternative schooling would allow other members of the class a productive environment in which to
learn. Students outbursts are detrimental to not only the other students education but also the
education of the delinquent as well. Placement into an alternative school will allow typical students to
attend class uninterrupted and encourage the cause of distraction to focus on continuing their
education. If the disruptive student is removed from the classroom, then it is likely that all students
grades will flourish accordingly in the now positive

Women as Instigators of Tragedy in the Works of Shakespeare
It is the very error of the moon;
She comes more nearer earth than she was wont,
And makes men mad. (Othello 5.2.112 14)
The moon is often seen in literature as an allegory for love, virtue, and chastity. In Shakespeare s
comedies, especially, the moon is personified as Diana, the Roman goddess of chastity. In these
comedies, the foolish antics of lovers (literally, lunatics ) usually occur under the auspices of the
chaste goddess, the lovers behaving like hounds about her feet that snap at each other in competition
for her bounty. The moon as allegory for the lunacy of romance helps us understand Shakespeare s
view of romance. In the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The finest example can be found in Othello. Iago convinces Othello that Othello is being cuckolded by
his wife, after which Othello questions him, referring to his wife as the moon:
Why, why is this?
Think st thou I ld make a lie of jealousy,
To follow still the changes of the moon
With fresh suspicions? No; to be once in doubt
Is once to be resolved . . . (3.3.190)
The moon/Desdemona is seen as at once chaste and inclined to change. Later, Othello accuses
Desdemona of infidelity despite her protesting innocence. Again, he compares her infidelity with the
moon: What committed!/ Heaven stops the nose at it and the moon winks . . . (4.2.74). The moon,
once chaste, is now flirting. Similarly, Othello believes that Desdemona, once chaste, is cuckolding
him. These two examples show the multiple allegories of the moon that, similarly, exist in women.
The moon also symbolizes the changeability of Fortune. What does the Fortune have to do with the
moon? Shakespeare considered both of them to be much the same. Both have a cyclical nature (hence
the term, Wheel of Fortune ): the moon waxes and wanes just like Fortune waxes and wanes. John
Hankins noted that the traditional Latin scholarship that Shakespeare may have studied (such as
Macrobius who studied the relationship of the celestial bodies to mortals on earth) would have lead to
his understanding

Persuasive Essay About Chocolate
There is no doubt that chocolate has become one of the most favorite food types and flavors in the
world. Chocolates come in different shapes and they are popular for different holidays, such as
chocolate bunnies and eggs on Easter, chocolate coins on Hanukkah, Santa Claus and other holiday
symbols on Christmas, and hearts on Valentine s Day. In this essay, I will explain how you can make
your own chocolate Easter eggs in your home. Equipment and preparation part is the most crucial part.
Go to craft store and pick up your favorite Easter egg molds (molds are usually made from plastic or
silicone, not expensive), then follow these steps to make a delicious and decorative chocolate Easter
eggs.
In your first step, you should melt your ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then, pour the melted chocolate into a mold and work quickly. Use a teaspoon to spread your
chocolate both sides of the mold.
After that, you should close the mold so the edges join, you can use clips. Shake to coat on both sides,
then turn it over and put aside until set. By doing this, chocolate setting only on one of the sides can be
prevented. Put your molds in fridge until they harden enough, it will be around 5 10 mins. After that,
you can remove the eggs from the mold easily. Gently press the top and bottom of the mold to release
the egg. Make sure the press each side one at a time.
Now your chocolate eggs are ready to eat, but we have one more step to complete this process. This is
the funniest part of making Easter chocolate eggs: time to use your imagination. However, you need to
follow some steps in this part also.
To decorate the eggs, place the egg in a glass or small cup and use as a stand. You can label the eggs
with the process called piping. To pipe the eggs, fold a permanent paper in the shape of a cone, and fill
the inside with melted white chocolate (or any other color you wish). Write your custom or desired
messages, or paint your favorite shapes onto the eggs. You can also add white chocolate into the mold
before any of the steps above, to give the eggs zebra like patterns for additional decoration.
If you need more creative and sweet ideas, you can watch some videos on YouTube.

One Hundred hours after the Ground Campaign started on February 27, 1991 President Bush declared Kuwait liberated and the US forces along with the Coalition forces started pulling back and moving more into a defensive posture protecting the borders until peace negotiations were agreed to both between Iraq and the United Nations. • 6. An Analysis Of Ramayana By William Buck Ramayana, translated by William Buck, is an ancient Indian epic telling the story of a prince named Rama who fights against his adversary, Ravana. Although there are many important female characters throughout the book, they are often seen as subordinate to their male counterparts where intelligence and strength are concerned. One character who proves this stereotype wrong is Sita, Rama s wife, who often shows that she has the capacity of being just as powerful as the men of the story. By being more mindful than most people around her, Sita defies the expectations that many characters have placed on her. Sita lets the reader see another side of women s power and shows us the strength that women could have. The reason that Sita proves to be powerful is that she seems to have an understanding of the deeper meaning of her life; precisely the quality that men don t expect her to have. Many men in the epic dismiss women s abilities, or the possibility that they could be equals. Often, they write women off as not being intelligent. When Vali, the monkey king s brother, tells his wife, Tara, that the only reason to consult a woman is to find out what not to do (Buck 196), implying that women cannot understand life or have authority. Vali completely ignores the validity of Tara s argument because he perceives her, and all women, to be less intelligent than he. Vali s opinion in this scene speaks to the larger view of women s intellect throughout this epic. Women are also ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This horrific event was a result of irresponsible consumption of alcohol and binge drinking. Sadly, this is not an isolated incident. Around the nation, countless young adults have lost their life due to the thoughtless consumption of alcohol. Unfortunately, the common census between the majority of the average day Americans is that the most effective way to make drinking safer for young adults is enforcing a minimum drinking age of twenty one. This law, as well as the common census, are a direct result from the efforts of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) more than thirty years ago ( Drinking Culture ). MADD s objective and goal is quite understandable; they want the young adults of today s world to be safe and not put themselves into dangerous situations with alcohol, but they doing more harm than good. Hemingway can relate to Cézanne s feeling because he has felt the same. Being hungry does not always mean that one has simply not eaten. He showed that Cézanne had a hunger to paint and to create; this is similar to Hemingway s hunger. Hunger is often unpleasant, yet Hemingway knew that it could yield effects that were pleasurable, such as the creation of new works. He uses the word ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. Essay A. Marcello Oboe Concerto in D Minor Charles Pridgen CONS 422a From the journal of Antonio Vivaldi December 12, 1717 As noted in a previous journal entry, I had made a trip to Cöthen where the great composer, Johann Sebastian Bach, is under the service of Prince Leopold. There I heard a recent keyboard transcription of Bach s. The transcription was of a piece called Concerto in D minor for Oboe, Strings and Basso Continuo. Bach listed the composer as the well known Venetian composer Benedetto Marcello. As I listened to the piece, I was captured by the simple yet eloquent melodies that were presented but I also was curious as I had not known of Benedetto to write for oboe. There are three Marcello brothers, Alessandro, Benedetto and Girolamo, who were born of nobility here in Venice. Benedetto is well known for his music. Alessandro composes also but his interests actually lie more with philosophy, mathematics, history, chemistry, painting and poetry. Alessandro has a small body of work in music. This is probably due to him being much more of a figure head in the Venetian government since his father passed away in 1707. Benedetto has a much larger body of work composing of many instrumental and sacred vocal pieces. I recalled that considering the academic pursuits of the Marcellos, that it was possible that they were members of the Arcadian colony. The Arcadians were a new movement of intellectuals that emphasized the respect of artistic achievement and a return to the Greek ideals that music and poetry worked together. They also wished to avoid lavish displays and encouraged simplicity. The Arcadians would also use pseudonyms and I discovered that the pseudonym of Eterio Stinfalico belonged to Alessandro Marcello. Now that I learned who the true author was, I went to seek out Alessandro. It is typical of nobles such as the Marcello to conduct concerts in their home. I went to the Palazzo Marcello and discovered a concert was being performed that had the concerto on its program. The oboist was unknown to me. The audience contained mostly nobles and government ... Basic pretreatment processes will be carried out in order to prepare the biosorbents for adsorption. Aiming to check the reliability of the system and find possible pitfalls, some preliminary tests will be run, and the results will be analyzed. Once the reliability of the apparatus, repeatability of the process, and standard operating procedure are determined, the next phase of the project will be commenced. 5.2 Phase 2 In this phase, the experiments will be focused on single component and binary systems. Firstly, pure methane will be fed into the column and the adsorption process will be investigated. Afterwards, the same experiments at similar conditions will be carried out using pure water vapor. Based on the result of these experiments, a new set of experiments will be designed and carried out for binary systems (Methane and water vapor). Equilibrium and kinetics will be studied. Dynamic studies will be accomplished. Generally, the performance of Flax Shive and Oat Hulls in PSA process will be determined. 5.3 Phase 3 To further investigate the adsorption process, various isotherms will be fitted on the experimental data. Williams establishes that the apartment is small and confining, the weather is hot and oppressive, and the characters have good reason to come into conflict. The South, old and new, is an important theme of the play. Blanche and her sister come from a dying world. The life and pretensions of their world are becoming a thing of memory: to drive home the point, the family mansion is called quot;Belle Reve, quot; or Beautiful Dream. Stanley is no expert, but his basic approach is that of a new world, the real world in which Blanch is so unable to survive. For me, the idea of love can be presented is such a basic way it becomes obvious to what will happen next. Spike Jonze s Her and Arthur Hiller s Love Story was such a refreshing take on how love can come in all forms and doesn t need to follow a sort of guideline, like every other love film seems to be. The structure of a cell is strongly correlated with its function and the way it acts in relation to other cells and biological processes such as diffusion. Cells are specialized for many different purposes and their structures reflect these functions. Every living organism can be classified into two different cell groups; eukaryote cells and prokaryote cells. The fact that sexting can fall under child pornography laws has created some heated conversations and understandably so. There are numerous thoughts and opinions on the matter. The majority of the time, sexting in teenagers isn t meant to be malicious, isn t child pornography therefore shouldn t carry such a like punishment. Teenagers sending a sext to another teenager isn t meant as a malicious act but rather a way of flirting and letting the other person know they are interested in them in most cases. While this behavior may cross moral lines it should not ruin their lives as a blatant crossing of legal lines. If messages containing sexually explicit pictures, or videos are sent between teens are meant to hurt someones reputation then that is a different story. Many states today are struggling to write laws that create clear lines regarding this problem. Sexting can be very serious and certainly needs to be addressed however, in the meantime, we cannot be putting children behinds bars or labeling them as sex offenders. Typical teenage sexting is not child pornography. Child pornography is a criminal offense and is defined by HG.org as any visual depiction involving the use of a minor, or one appearing to be a minor, engaging in sexually explicit conduct. In reference to Reverend Gretta Vosper, her failure to focus on an almighty God when it comes to preaching the Christian faith can be very controversial. On one hand, it opens up the church to a wider population of individuals with an array of beliefs, allowing Christianity to be a more universal religion. Providing the opportunity to still practice Christian values and attend church without the requirement of a blind faith in a transcendent being will help to reintegrate Christianity in to modern culture. One of the negatives to this is that individuals who believe strongly in an omnipotent God can feel as though their faith is being diminished by not acknowledging that He exists. However, in relation to bridging the religious and secular divide I feel as though providing an array of opportunities for individuals to engage in and practice the Christian faith is more beneficial. Dopamine is commonly associated with the pleasure system of the brain, providing feelings of enjoyment and reinforcement to motivate us to do, or continue to do, certain activities (Dopamine). Animals and humans get these feeling when carrying out natural and necessary tasks. The chemical is released by naturally rewarding experiences such as food, sex, abuse of drugs (like cocaine and amphetamines), and neural stimuli that become associated with them (Dopamine). It s often discussed in terms of drugs and in relation to neurobiological theories of addiction, which argue that these dopamine pathways are pathologically altered in addicted people (Dopamine). If an owner were to reward his or her puppy because it peed on the floor, he or she cannot blame the creature for its bad habits. This is why it is so difficult for addicts to quit. But because humans have a sense of awareness, they are able to control their decisions. Psychoactive drugs are believed to exert their euphoric effects by stimulating dopamine release. Release of the neurotransmitter results in feelings of pleasure and reward and contributes to reinforcement of the behavior that led to dopamine release (Clouse). These drugs are used to treat mental disorders such as schizophrenia or bipolar. However, dopamine is not just the reward chemical , but, as more evidence has shown, it is also released when unpleasant or aversive stimuli are encountered (Dopamine). While analyzing the solution, one will learn how to successfully handle these sensitive chemicals and then establish its properties via spectrophotometry. Introduction1 During this experiment, a ferrioxalate solution will be produced from a solution of ferric nitrate that is reacted with oxalic acid. In order to become and oxalate ion, the oxalic acid can donate up to two protons. Ferrioxalate, or tris(oxalate)ferrate(III), is the product of three oxalate ions on Fe(III), as seen in the figure below2: Ferrioxalate as an ion can undergo a photochemical reaction if it is exposed to light which results in the rather unstable complex of diaquabis(oxalate)ferrate(II) ion. There is no visible change when the reaction occurs since both the reactants and products are colourless. The second solution, potassium ferricyanide, will be prepared and used to test the extent of the photochemical reaction by adding it to the first solution, ferrioxalate. The ferrioxalate solution will be tested with different colours and exposure times of light. We will also establish what colours of light it absorbs by using spectrophotometry. When exposed to light the ferrioxalate solution will undergo a reaction and produce diaquabis(oxalate)ferrate(II) ion.
