Persian Gulf War Essay
The Persian Gulf War all started because of one country s greed for oil. Iraq accused Kuwait of
pumping oil and not sharing the benfits, and Kuwait was pumping more oil than allowed under quotas
set by the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, it decreased the price of oil, Iraq s main
export. Iraq s complaints against Kuwait grew more and more harsh, but they were mostly about
money. When Iraqi forces began to assemble near the Kuwaiti border in the summer of 1990, several
Arab states tried to intervene the dispute. Kuwait didn t want to look weak so they didn t ask for any
help from the United States or other non Arab powers for support. Arab mediators convinced Iraq and
Kuwait to negotiate their differences in Saudi Arabia, on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Still other countries made other contributions: Turkey allowed air bases on its territory to be used by
coalition planes, and Japan and Germany gave financial support. The primary goal of the force was to
prevent further Iraqi action, but most countries were aware the force might eventually be used to drive
Iraq from Kuwait.
The Iraqis tried to prevent and split the growing international coalition through several means. They
made it clear that their adversaries would pay heavily if war broke out, and they hinted they would use
chemical weapons and missile attacks on cities. Iraq also held citizens of coalition countries who had
been in Kuwait at the time of the invasion and said they would be held in militarily camp areas in
effect using them as human shields to prevent coalition attacks. Iraq finally released the last of the
foreigners in December 1990 under pressure from several Arab nations. The coalition s greatest
military concern during the closing months of 1990 was that Iraqi forces would attack before coalition
forces were fully in place, but no such attack took place.
On November 29, with coalition forces over whelming in Saudi Arabia and Iraq showing no signs of
retreat, the

`` The Lesson `` By Tony Cade Bambara
If all your friends jumped off a bridge, would you do it too? Throughout the ages, how many times
have parents bellowed these words? Although the question is dreadfully annoying to most children, it
is designed to make them think about their individuality and the dangers of conforming. Today, more
than ever, with the use of social media, our society is under pressure to conform. With the creation of
Facebook and Twitter, our goals are to be friended, liked, followed, and accepted. Is our nation in
danger of becoming lemmings? According to an entry in Urban Dictionary written by Aegis Kleais, a
lemming is [a] derogatory term used to reference a person who seemingly does not possess any form
of individual thought and instead mindlessly follows the behaviors and actions of the masses.
Fortunately, short stories such as Tony Cade Bambara s The Lesson (1972) and Langston Hughes
Salvation (1940) remind us of both the positive and negative effects of how an individual deals with
group conformity and social pressure. The Lesson is a story of a close knit group of children from
impoverished Harlem, New York who are taken on a field trip to learn about economic inequality. In
Salvation, Hughes recalls his experience of religion as a young child, particularly an intense religious
revival. Through the use of setting, characterization, and irony, both authors show the importance of
standing up for one s self regardless of social pressure. In each

The Ultimate Question
The Ultimate Questions First let me start off my paper by giving thanks. I would like to thank you
Lord for loving me enough that he thought I was worth saving and worth keeping. He gave his life for
mine, if this wasn t so my presences would not be here. He put into place a Church and its leaders that
helped with my feedings of the words of God and as I listened my life began to change. My
relationship with him grew personally as well as my spiritually again thank you. Being in this course
the History of Ecclesiology and Polity, it has taught me many things about the difference in
denominations of the church. In the Pauline letters Paul who was a minister of Christ Jesus wanted us
to know what were the structures and order of the Gentile churches of his day. He also wanted today s
church to know the normative structures and order as well. Jesus was exceptionally clear on how he
wishes His church to be organized and managed here on earth in His word. Jesus first wanted us to
know that he is the head and highest authority of the church. And he is the head of the body, the
church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have
the supremacy (Colossians 1:18 NIV). Paul during his time delegated authority to help co work and
represent him in the administration of his churches. For example the Missionary letter of Timothy We
sent Timothy, who is our brother and co worker in God s service in spreading the gospel of Christ, to

Power Of Conformity In Groups Was Concocted By Solomon Asch
The Asch Experiments were a series of studies that demonstrated the power of conformity in groups.
The Asch experiment was concocted by Solomon Asch and was a famous psychological experiment
that was designed to investigate the extent to which social pressure from a majority group could affect
a person to conform. The experiment also shows that one voice can make a difference amongst others.
The experiments were made up of visions tests where study participants were found to be more likely
to conform to obviously wrong answers if first given by other participants. In the case study, the group
was consists of all but one person that was working for Asch (confederates) to test how the remaining
student would react to their wrong answer.
During the experiment each participant was put into a group with 5 to 7 confederates. The participant
was then shown a card with a line on it which was then followed by another card with a line on it
labelled a,b,c. The participant was then asked to state which of the lines matched in length to the other
card. The participant would answer next to last. In the beginning of the experiment (the first two trails)
the subject would feel calm, as he and the others gave the correct answer. Once the first two trails
were over all the confederates would give the wrong answer to the task. The hope was to prove
whether the real participant would conform to the wrong answer ... Show more content on

He was mistaken when figuring out the results for the experiment. The results to the participants were
interesting; 24% of the participants did not conform on any trail, 75% conformed at least once, 5%
conformed every time, and when the confederates provided an incorrect answer the participants
provided incorrect answers participants conformed 32% of the time. Overall, the equipment concluded
that there was a conformity rate of 37%. This concluded that peer pressure can cause

Privacy in the Workplace
Explain where an employee can reasonably expect to have privacy in the workplace.
Privacy in the workplace is very hard to get. Advancements in technology have been made that allow
companies to monitor every aspect of an employee use of their systems. This is very evident if you
have a job that involves you to be on the telephones. Companies are able to listen to each phone that is
made, see every website that you have visited and read any email you have received. For example, I
used to work at AMEX call center, and they were able to monitor each call through a system called
N.I.C.E.. Through this system the company was able to monitor my calls for quality control reasons.
However, if I made a phone call for personal reasons they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Electronic surveillance is almost a way of life in the United States. Everything from law enforcement,
military, government, banks, parking facilities and etc use electronic surveillance. It is usually put into
place to enhance the security for people and property, detect wrongful or lawful activities or the
interception of information that if let out to the public could be harmful and embarrassing to the
company. The only place within a company that I know of that you can t have surveillance is in the
restrooms. So, I think that Herman s use of surveillance is sufficient. In business you have to keep
your competitive advantage and if an insider who knows your business workings lets it out, that
business could quickly be at a disadvantage.
Explain to what extent an employer can engage in electronic surveillance of employees.
An employer can engage in surveillance of employees at almost any extent possible. As I mentioned
earlier an employer surveillance can include keystroke monitoring, reviewing emails, reviewing
instant messages, monitoring of conversations, monitoring time spent on the phones as well as the
numbers called, video surveillance, drug testing and satellite technology to monitor use of company
cars, and cell phones. As long as an employee is using their networks and their systems, cars, cell
phones and credit cards, the company can monitor you.

The Nature Of God
Nature of the universe is that God has created life in his image. For God is the embodiment of
perfection, the ultimate form of things. Now the maximum in any genus is the cause of all in that
genus; as fire, which is the maximum heat, is the cause of all hot things. Therefore there must also be
something which is to all beings the cause of their being, goodness, and every other perfection; and
this we call God. The foundation of Aquinas work relies on showcasing evidence on the existence of
God. He explains that God has laid the foundation for life and gave people wisdom. As a wise
architect, I have laid the foundation (1 Cor. 3:10). Again, in the order of all human life, the prudent
man is called wise, inasmuch as he directs his acts to a fitting end: Wisdom is prudence to a man
(Prov. 10: 23). Therefore he who considers absolutely the highest cause of the whole universe, namely
God, is most of all called wise... Hence sacred doctrine is especially called wisdom. People have what
they have due to the actions of God; life exists because it was created by God.
The nature of man is to learn about ourselves and the world; we do so by having reason. People have
reason which holds our hopes, determination, and conscious. Naturally people seek knowledge to
fulfill our needs. The method of doing so is using our senses to gather information. So in relation with
people using senses to acquire this information, the bible was written for people to gather truths about

The Organization s Formal Organisational Structure Essay
1.0 Introduction
The purpose of this report is to further analyse and provide potential solutions for the issue addressed
in the previous brief Sig Processing System s inefficient communication network. Framed by the
management function of organising, this report aims to discuss how the organisation s formal
organisational structure has led to a highly centralised communication network and the ramifications
of this. This issue will then be addressed with several recommendations focussed on replacing the
structure of the communication network to a more efficient one by changing the current organisational
structure.
2.0 Defining and Framing the Issue
Sig Processing Systems, as noted in the organisational profile (Blackboard, n.d.), is a rapidly changing
business which is facing issues with its internal environment. The organisation has been growing
quickly and has the potential to expand overseas, where most revenue comes from. This requires Sig
Processing Systems to have a strong organisational change capacity the ability to adapt to change
efficiently (Soparnot, 2011). Judge and Douglas (2009) have identified several factors as contributing
to organisational change capacity, one of which is effective communication vertically and horizontally
between departments. Effective inter departmental communication has also been identified as an
important in the company s overall organisational performance (Ramezan, Sanjaghi Kalateh Baly,
2013). The underlying issue for

Anthony Wayne Effect On Indians
We are now Masters of this Island, and we can dispose of the Lands we think proper, General Philip
Schuyler said to the Indians. East of the Mississippi, there were over 40,000 Indians, comprised of
Cherokee, Creek, Chickasaw, and Choctaw tribes. Indian leaders told the Spanish in 1784, The
Americans...put us out of our lands, extending themselves like a plague of locusts in the territories of
the Ohio River we inhabit. The Americans took Indian land and traded alcohol to Indians, causing
them to lose senses and give land out of reason. In 1790, the Americans faced a great defeat against
Little Turtle and his tribe. Out of the 1800 soldiers sent to capture the land, only 900 came out alive.
The battle has no name. Anthony Wayne returned and

Analysis of a Story in the Newspaper
Introduction
News media investigate, analyze, and report to stakeholder publics on issues and event s that occur
around the globe in a twenty four hour, 365 day news cycle (Richard,2007:98). Because of the way
news media works, we know what is happening in the world and we can have connection to other
places. With new media arising, the information transmission process become even faster. Though
new media is getting more prevalent, still, a considerable amount of people rely on one of the
traditional news media newspaper.
Facing the competition, the way news reported may change as newspapers need to maintain large
circulation figures to stay profitable (Bignell 1997:83). This directly affects how news is presented. To

There headline of the news has only 10 running words, however, the main idea of the news story is
still clear. It tells the people involved, the place the event taken place and the nature of the event. It
shows its function to encapsulate the news (ibid:14). Orientation and evaluation
From the very beginning of the story, journalists mental analysis of what goes in a story has involved
(Bell, 1991: 169).
In the opening paragraph of the news, journalist tells readers about four aspects who (Hong Kong
tourists and ex policeman), when (yesterday), where (Manila), and what (hostage). These four aspects
are the basic facts that concentrate at the beginning of a story (Bell:1991). It is an obligatory part of
news story and named as Orientation . From this lead paragraph, readers are able to grasp the context
of the news There was a hostage event happened yesterday in Manila, involving Hong Kong tourists
and an ex policeman.
Following the orientation paragraph is Evaluation . Orientation helps to form the lens through which
the reminder of the story is viewed (ibid., 1991: 152). In this part, the story is elaborated. Through this
part, a journalist hopes to make the text seem to

Invasion Of Nazi Germany Essay
During most of World War II, Nazi Germany was at the height of power. By this time they had
conquered most of Eastern Europe. However on June 22nd 1941, Hitler began the largest military
movement in history, the invasion of the Soviet Union. Even though Hitler had signed a Soviet Union
Non Aggression pact he began the invasion. Hitler had always showed his hatred of the Jewish people
in his book Mein Kampf. Although the invasion of the Soviet Union was the largest military
movement in history, it led directly to the downfall of Germany. This can be shown when looking at;
the Nazi Soviet Non Aggression pact, Operation Barbarossa, the Soviet winter and finally the
consequences of the invasion of Russia.
On August 23rd 1939, Nazi representatives ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The German forces were no prepared for the brutal soviet winter as in November 1941, General
Eduard Wagner, the Quartermaster general of the German army reported that;
We are at the end of our resources in both personnel and material, we are about to be confronted with
the dangers of deep winter.
For the Germans, November was a critical month in their campaign, this was when the hard winter
closed in, as the Germans expected a rapid collapse of the soviet union they had failed to prepare their
troops for the harsh winter, eventually the German troops outran their supply lines, opening a thinly
guarded flank opening the opportunity for a soviet counter attack. This caused the Germans plans to
fall. ( US Holocaust Memorial Museum)
After months of bloody fighting, the German army was exhausted, this and the soviet winter pared
together to finally open the German to a soviet counter attack. Their plans for the union to fall had
failed and the Germans plan for their military personnel to live off the land had collapsed. As they
were advancing quickly they eventually outran their supply lines. Even though they had reach the
outskirts of Moscow all that was needed was one more push from the soviets to put the Germans back
on the back foot. All of these factors led directly to the downfall of Germany and most of all, the Nazi

Land Biomes Research Paper
A huge part that makes the Earth different from any other planet is the diverse environments or biomes
that make up the lands. The different environments help create the different cultures around the world
which help shape people personalities and their everyday lifestyle. Each biome has different factors in
them that describe them which are their cultures and the three main types of land biomes are the
tundra, grassland/desert and forest. The tundra is the lease populated biome on the Earth due to its
extremely low temperatures and excessive amount of snow and ice. One group of people called The
Inuit are brave enough to live on coastal areas of Arctic tundra including places like Canada, Alaska
(USA), Siberia (Russia), and Greenland and within them even smaller groups are formed based on
their location within the tundra. Some people share common ancestors but even if they do not most
groups have similar ways of living in the Arctic. Inuit traditionally hunted for seals, whales, polar

Most of the people who live in the desert do not really live in one place for a long period of time since
they are nomadic and move frequently in search of water. The few people that settle in the desert raise
crops on irrigated land in an oasis. They wear white flowing robes and turbans to protect their head
and eyes against the blazing sun. Oases in the desert are few and far between and this is where trading
activities are carried out. People trade wool, animal s skins and even buy and sell animals to make
money. When the nomadic people decide to stay in one place for a short period of time, they live in

goat and sheep milk is also a staple in their diet. The desert is an interesting and dangerous

Aging And Negative Stereotypes Of Aging
Generally, modern society reinforces negative perceptions of the process of aging, and it is often
portrayed in society as being a lonely and depressing experience. These perceptions are important
because elderly individuals that have a positive outlook on aging have been linked to better health and
psychological well being. This study explores the impact of negative and positive perceptions of
aging, held by society, and how they influence aging individuals. Although, some positive stereotypes
exist that are associated with the process of aging they are outweighed by negative stereotypes.
Labeling Theory suggests that when older individuals are presented with negative stereotypes they
themselves will assimilate these ideas, and will preform worse in age related tasks (Kotter Grühn
Hess, 2012). In fact studies have shown that when presented with negative reinforcers of aging,
individuals show more age related concerns and memory is impacted negatively (Kotter Grühn Hess,
2012). In contrast Resilience Theory suggests that conflict between negative aspects of aging and
negative stereotypes can be a pathway to a more positive self perception (Kotter Grühn Hess, 2012).
The idea of the theory being when individuals feel threatened by societal views they will compare
themselves to those that are worse off than they are, and this will in turn lead to a more positive self
perception. Resilience theory is supported by a study that found improvement in competence in

Compromises Of The Framers Essay
When constructing the constitution the framers had to deal with several big compromises. One of the
compromises was between the slave states and nonslave states. Another dispute the framers had to
deal with was the battle between small states and large states. The argument between the slave states
and the nonslave states was extremely difficult for the framers to handle mainly because the nonslave
states view slavery as an immoral practice and the slave states viewed slavery as a necessary practice
for their economic interests. But in order to get the constitution to be agreeable for all sides they both
had to make compromises, in order to get rid of the Articles of Confederation. The two main practices
of compromise the framers used were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This thought process is similar to the colonies thought process when it came to the intolerable acts. No
taxation without representation. But the nonslave states argued that slaves should be counted the same
as citizens to have a fair share of the tax burden. So in order to compromise they split the differences
and came up with the Three Fifths Compromise which made each slave get taxed as 3/5 of a citizen.
But when it came to slave s congressional representation both sides changed. The nonslave states didn
t want the slaves to count in determining the number of House representatives, but the slave states felt
that each slave should be counted like every citizen was. So the Framers had to use the Three Fifths
Compromise again to settle this dispute. Both sides acted really hypocritical when it came to these two
disputes has the nonslave states wanted slaves to count for taxes but not representation and then the
slave states wanted them not to be taxed but be used in figuring the number of House representatives.
At the time it is somewhat understandable because they needed to get rid of the Articles of
Confederation but still wanted what was best for their

Compare And Contrast Christianity And Buddhism
Around the world there are many people with many different beliefs. Although there are many beliefs,
Christianity and Buddhism will be the topics for today. These two religions have spread throughout
the world and have influences many individuals. The way these religions are practiced show an
immense amount of the culture and origins it originates from. First of all, Christianity is originated
from Israel around the time of 30 CE lead by Jesus of Nazareth. It is practiced in North America,
South America, Europe, and Russia. Christianity is such a huge religion that there are other forms of
it. Some of the other forms Christianity are Catholic, Protestant, Eastern Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox,
Restorationism and Nontrinitarianism, Independent Catholicism, and Minor branches. Although there
are many different forms of Christianity, they all share the same values and customs. Some of those
customs include the belief that there is one God in three forms, Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. These
three forms are all God, but they are not each other. For example, Father is God, but Father is not Son.
Son is God but Son is not Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit is God but Holy Spirit is not Father. Now what do
Christians belief in? They belief that when you die, death is like being in eternal sleep with no
conscious of time or what s going on around you. Jesus said to her, i am the resurrection and life. He
who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in

On an Adventure
One day Mo the fox had a brilliant idea.
I m going to go on an adventure.
It was one of those cool spring mornings with the birds singing in the trees and the grass wet with
dew. It was the perfect morning for an adventure.
So Mo packed a day bag and set out. On the way she ran into her brother Finley.
Where are you going? he asked.
On an adventure. She replied.
To the forest?
No.
The mountains?
No.
The river?
I don t know! Mo said impatiently because she was ready to explore the world. I was planning on
walking along the garden path until I got to the end.
Finley laughed at that. It s just rubbish at the end. But may I come with you?
Sure.
So Mo and Finley walked down the long garden path beautiful spring flowers stretching tall and
swaying on each side of them, the heads of vegetables and the beginnings of herbs, it was a wonderful
smell.
Suddenly, they heard an angry, Squeee!!!
Pig. they both said in fear. They hugged each other and shivered.
The bushes in the distance started trembling. The ground started trembling too. Then they saw a dark
round shadow and heard snorts, very loud snorts. They really wanted to run but they were too
frightened and now they were at the edge of the garden path. It was an open field with a pile of
rubbish in the center just like Finley had said.
Addy, the lone wolf was walking around the field.

Picket Fence Federalism
Federalism is a form of government in which the power to make laws and other specific
responsibilities are divided across the national, state, and local governments. How that power is
divided has been a constant source of conflict as each level has some degree of autonomy. That is,
each level has the capacity to carry out some policies without interference from the others. The
national government is responsible for things of national common interest such as, national defense
and foreign policy, as well as, responsibilities through implied powers that are inferred in the
Constitution. The national government also has the power to declare war, coin money, control
interstate commerce, borrow money, manage the postal service, and anything else ... Show more

The United States certainly has the picket fence structure of all three levels of government working
together in all areas of political policy, probably more now than ever before in the history of
Cooperative Federalism. Our Federal government funds many state programs as in Fiscal Federalism
and uses those much needed funds to coerce state governments into complying with federal policy as
in Coercive Federalism. In 2009, the United States, under President Obama, began participating in
what his administration calls Progressive Federalism. Although this is not mentioned in our text, it has
become the policy of the current administration and allows the states to have a greater control over
issues normally reserved for the national government. In various instances, states have been able to
enforce more regulations on government decrees than necessary. This type of federalism is used in
different situations, such as California imposing stricter regulations on the emissions of greenhouse
gases in vehicles. This allows the states to still comply with government orders, but add their own
additions as well. Allowing states to experiment with different variations on the same government
mandate can inform the national government on which type of changes are most effective, and can
allow the national government to tailor their

The Two Most Important Underlying Factors Of Informalisation
2.3. Principles of Informalisation
The two most important underlying factors of informalisation are exit and exclusion . They help us
determine the nature and root of informality across various countries. Informality due to Exclusion is
stringent, and costly regulations and also lack of opportunities to work in the formal sector for a
certain section of the society, force labourers to see informal sector as the only option left and they
work in substandard conditions for lower wages. On the other hand, informality arising out of Exit is
mainly due to poor benefits of being formally employed, lack of trust amongst public institutions and
preference of individual for self employment. Exit in particular includes the young and elderly with ...

They measured informal sector based on migration unemployment and difference in development in
the two sectors of the economy. This model further explains that the urban rural migration
phenomenon is due to difference between the urban rural income expectations. High volume of urban
rural migration is taking place in developing countries and less developed countries, leading to high
level of unemployment in urban areas; such areas are study areas for this model. This model states that
out migrants move to urban areas expecting higher incomes however their main source of the income
is retained in rural areas i.e. agricultural land. But other literature suggests that these migrants settle in
urban areas and are employed in the urban sector. The model was extensively followed in the 1960 s,
but with the advent of globalisation it became an equally urban phenomenon. The main reason behind
this is that globalisation along with technological advancement made it easy for people to engage in
the informal sector. Hence people increasingly entered the informal sector in urban areas. Most of
them due to low skills and no or little education acquired casual jobs with wages less than the

Determining The Function Of The Ordinal Scale
Before conducting a statistical analysis, every researcher needs to measure the depended variable. The
measurement depends on the type of variable. Different types are measured differently. So, the
researcher has to decide on the appropriate scale of measurement. There are typically four levels of
measurement: nominal, ordinal, interval, and ratio.
1. The purpose of the nominal scale is for identification and represents the lowest level of
measurement. With a nominal scale, the researcher only names or categorizes responses (i.e.
male/female, high/low, unemployed, employed, retired, student). Thus, nominal scale measures
variables that are non numeric or where the numbers have no value.
2. The purpose of the ordinal scale is to allow comparisons of the degree to which two subjects
possess the dependent variable. The ordinal scale provides a rank order (i.e. very dissatisfied,
somewhat dissatisfied, somewhat satisfied, or very satisfied). However, it is the order of the values
that is important, not the differences between them. Ordinal scales usually measures non numeric
variables like satisfaction, happiness, discomfort, etc
3. The Interval scale provides information about both the rank order and the exact differences between
the values (i.e. pain scale). However, interval scales do not have a true zero point.
4. The Ratio scale (i.e. height and weight) is the most informative scale because it tells the researcher
about order, the exact value between units, and has a

An effective professional identity is good for any profession, especially a counseling profession.
When a person develops a professional identity it says who they are and what they stand for in that

professional identity, how to continue the professional development of counselors, and how
technology can play an impact on the counseling profession.
Differences in Two Counseling Specializations The first specialization this author would like to
discuss is mental health counseling (MHC). MHC is a specialization that stresses: developmental,
preventive, and educational as well as remedial aspects of mental health care (Smith Robinson, 1995,
p. 158). Some also consider this profession a hybrid and it has an uncomfortable connection between
the professions of psychology and educational counseling.

An Essay On Appalachian Culture
Appalachia is a culture based upon the ancient traditions and customs that have made its way through
the years. Appalachia is a descriptive term referring to things in the Appalachian region. The style of
dance or music would be a prime example of things in that particular region. The culture of the people
began as really poor people who went West to survive on their own and avoid tax and toleration of the
Eastern States. People who are from there or native to the region are generally close knit, and fiercely
defensive of friends and family and skeptical of outsiders. Yet, despite the lack of educational
education, they had a lot of pride for who they were and their mark in history. According to popular
beliefs on Appalachia, many people are led to believe that Appalachia is a poor and uneducated
region. In the town in which I grew up, there is a place in the town called Old Town which showcases

And many of the stories that were once told by the people are working its way out of our homes. We
only hold onto the knowledge of Appalachia and the stories that accompany each folk song. What I ve
come to see over the years is the lack of respect that we have for the Appalachian people and the work
they put into each item they present. Whether that be a pot or a basket we need to recognize the
craftsmanship that they invest to make things to eat out of or to put things into. Many of us, like
myself, was not born into the Appalachian life but yet it chooses me. An event held every year on
December 26th named Christmas Country Dance School(CCDS). That is where you really feel a sense
of getting back to your roots. All kinds of people come together under one roof to sing, dance, tell
stories, and fellowship together as one kin. There you find a sense of belonging where you can walk
into a room and really feel the energy of people, and automatically feel as though you found a sense of

Bill Cosby Libertarianism
Known for his acting, comedy, and a friendly loveable personality, Bill Cosby has become one of the
most well known celebrities. Cosby was recently accused of drugging and sexually assaulting over
fifty women. When he was finally put on trial the judge declared a mistrial. The man famous for his
good father character was revealed to be a serial rapist. Many readers argue that Bill Cosby s
fatherlessness caused him to drug and rape woman; however, Cosby was aware and personally
responsible of his actions.

In the Introduction to Free Will Robert Kane explains freedom of will is having nothing preventing a
person from making their own choice or decision with full freedom (6). There is an inevitable relation
between accountability, free will, and personal responsibility. According to free will, individuals are
able to make their own decision regardless of outside or higher powers. Therefore, free will would
make Cosby accountable for his actions because he chose to commit the crime and was not force to by
external powers.
On the other hand, hard determinist would support determinism to explain why an individual is not
personally responsible for their actions. Kane explained that there is freedom to make choices but the
choices made are in fact manipulated by other factors (2). Determinism is the belief that all events are
fate bound and everything that happens is because other forces are at play. Determinism is the only
possible thing that could happen and they only happen because it is how they are meant to be.

Bbc s Power In World War II
The BBC s Power in World War II Radio proved itself to be a profound method of deriving
information before television and the Internet were developed. In Britain, the British Broadcasting
Corporation, also known as the BBC, usurped the radio business in England, filling radiowaves with
various programs pertinent to British life. However, by the time the Second World War came to
fruition, the BBC claimed English media and turned it into the most essential source of wartime
media. The BBC found itself instrumental as a media conduit during the Second World War in the
British Empire because it was able to boost morale in England, as well as having the ability to bring
the soldiers abroad and the citizens at home closer together. The BBC also ... Show more content on

Many broadcasts publicized by the BBC tied the regions of Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland
through England. England constituted itself of these regions, as well as Britain. Various media
methods allowed for regional contribution, but most importantly, for the sake of auxiliary linguistics,
Wales and Scotland produced broadcasts in Welsh and Gaelic, respectively (Hajkowski 122). In
allowing for synchronicity in England, it became essential for the BBC to focus not solely on the
views of the Britons, but rather all the factions that made up England. The allocation of varied
viewpoints indicated interests that regional lands perceived about the war and made them popular
among the rest of England. This led to the BBC s contribution to the war, as it represented such. To get
a better understanding on the interests of England as a whole, the people of England tuned into the
programs that the BBC offered in the Empire about the regionally diverse mainland of England. Such
broadcasts did not go unnoticed thus allowing for cultural syncretism to spread amongst the citizens of
England. Some programs in particular helped define the ideal regionality of the BBC. For example, In
Britain Now, in the midst of the war, became popular, attracting almost twenty five percent of radio
listeners in Britain (Hajkowski 124). This program established itself as one of the most prolific
regional media conduits through which varied broadcasts were shown. Its quality viewership and
informative nature made it an efficient consolidation of the traditions in England. Although regional
broadcasts had enormous success, the BBC managed to have some difficulty with the ability to
broadcast regionally. In particular, the acquisition of adequate programs for all of England and the
erroneous run times kept audiences minimal and made regional standing capricious in broadcasting
(Hajkowski 125). However, the broadcasts did allow for

Development Is Not A Synonym For Infrastructure
Development is not a synonym for infrastructure. Yet, these two words are often used in
interchangeably. Halifax, a small city in the province of Nova Scotia, Canada is currently taking on
the project of building a new convention center to replace the old and derelict convention center. This
project has been widely accepted and praised by many local government officials and business people
as a tremendous step forward and a driver for the city s growth. While this project can be defined as
new infrastructure, this alone does not justify its denotement as a development. What allows
infrastructure to also be defined as development is its ability to create positive change, or put more
simply: improvement. Likewise, undevelopment will be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Convention centers are generally not expected to make a profit on their operations or cover their
construction costs . As a result, the vast majority of projects are covered by government funding with
the hope that the economic benefits for the city will justify this subsidy. These new or refurbished
convention centers are expected to bring in more foreign visitors, increasing tourism and bringing in
foreign capital. While this can be true, examples of success stories lie in cities where tourism is
already prevalent and lends themselves to larger cities far more than smaller ones . Similarly,
projections are made under the assumption that all conference and event attendees will be visitors.
Project revenue received from local hotels, restaurants, and stores is determined under this premise.
This assumption is largely exaggerated, as studies have shown that the number of hotel rooms
estimated to be used during a given year was one third of the initial projections. This is because locals
make up a large portion of conference attendees . As a result, most spending is from local residents
rather than visitors, completely negating the purpose of building a center to bring in external revenue.
It is apparent that since attendees are primarily local residents, there is no increase in sales revenue at
neighboring businesses. Moreover, this particular project has proven to not only be unbeneficial for
surrounding restaurants and retailers,

Comparing Sleepy Hollow and The Legend of the Sleepy...
Comparing Sleepy Hollow and The Legend of the Sleepy Hollow
Over time, a change has occurred from the typical horror story to a violent and bloody legend. The
original short story The Legend of the Sleepy Hollow is an example of a simple, yet mysterious fable
in which Ichabod Crane acts as the protagonist. Ichabod becomes the victim of the feared headless
horseman after believing the superstitious tales of this spirit preying in the night. The film that is
supposedly based upon the tale provides a deceiving, yet compelling title of Sleepy Hollow, as one
might assume that the film is a reenactment of the short story. The film and original tale differ in that
the film has blood, gore and controversy while the story depicts a ... Show more content on

The townspeople looked upon Ichabod as a foreigner and responded with opposition to his notions.
For example, almost immediately upon his arrival, he took a dead corpse and performed an autopsy,
something that was unheard of during this time period. He remained dedicated to his work, but had a
hostile, almost mysterious way about him.
Why is Ichabod portrayed so different in film than in script? The answer ultimately lies in society.
After watching twisted and bloody horror films, society gets hungry for something more intense, more
mysterious and unpredictable, with all of the blood and gore mixed in . People get used to watching
ordinary kidnappings and murders and wish for a more intense approach. This is why the original
Ichabod character was not portrayed the exact same on film as he was on paper. The entertainment
industry tries to keep up with this demand of society and gives to the people exactly what they are
asking for: A film based upon a familiar classic tale, but twisted with mystery, confusion and massive
amounts of violence.
Katrina Van Tassel was the girl Ichabod fell in love with in the story. She was described as a
blossoming lass of eighteen; plump as a partridge; ripe and melting and rosy cheeked She was the girl
that all of the young men were fond of. In the story she does not play an important part; she is mainly
known for her flirtatiousness toward the men around her and for being a wealthy, spoiled farmer s
daughter. But,

What Is The Cultural Context Of The Happiest Millionaire
I will be using the 1967 movie musical The Happiest Millionaire, directed by Norman Tokar, to
demonstrate group communication theories by examining the transitions taking place within the
Biddle family, and how these transitions become apparent through the family s interactions with new
groups of individuals.
Rather than recognizing that an organization has a culture, it can be argued that an organization is a
culture. This means that communication occurs in a unique cultural context, which the organization
establishes for itself. Regarded as a soft science, the cultural approach is a more interpretive form of
analysis, and is understood through the sharing of personal, collegial, and corporate stories, as well as
the ritualistic tendencies of the organization ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Biddle and the members of the Biddle Bible Study use these practices to create a culture that is
dependent upon the connection between physical exercise and spiritual understanding. Mr. Biddle uses
corporate stories and rituals to express the ideologies of the group, the most important being that
everyone can and should be both physically and spiritually strong, regardless of gender, size, or age.
In one scene, Mr. Biddle is visited by a small group of young military men who are interested in using
his bible study methods to train their recruits. However, after explaining his corporate ideology, the
men inform him that he is too old to train the men himself, so he challenges one of the young men to a
boxing match, which he promptly wins. This match helped Mr. Biddle demonstrate that the unique
culture of the Biddle Bible Study cannot be truly duplicated by anyone but himself.
These fantasies then trigger a fantasy chain, a reaction in which group members contribute their own
fantasy themes in order to establish shared meaning. This theme can be recalled by a symbolic queue,
therefore extending and memorializing this momentary

ABSTRACT
The purpose of this experiment was to determine if soft drinks manufactured by Coca Cola use
phosphoric acid in their product formula. An analysis of their product concentrations of HCl and
H3PO4 was performed using the potentiometric titration method, with a standardized 0.1002 M NaOH
solution. The molarities of HCl and H3PO4 were determined by plotting the titration data, the first
derivative, and the second derivative of this data. The results of our analysis of the three trials found
the molarities of HCl to be 0.1232 M, 0.1232 M, and 0.1230 M, with a mean of 0.1231 M and an
average deviation of 0.8 parts per thousand. We are 95% confident that for this set of data, the true
mean lies within the range of 0.1228 and 0.1234 M. The molarities of H3PO4 were found to be 0.1709
M, 0.1706 M, and 0.1702 M, with a mean of 0.1706 M and an average deviation of 1 part per
thousand. We are 95% confident that for this set of data, the true mean lies within the range of 0.1698
and 0.1714 M. These values compare well to literature values for the

Monetary Policy Provided By Federal Reserve System
Macroeconomic sentiment
Over the past couple of years we have seen a huge surge in stock markets (Chart#1). The main reason
for such moves is Quantitative Easing monetary policy provided by Federal Reserve System since late
2008. Purchases were halted on 29 October 2014 after accumulating $4.5 trillion in assets or 26% of
GDP. The key outlook is tend to be consumer behavior, because households spending represents two
thirds of GDP, which is broadest measure of economic activity. The job market is considerably
stronger right now. Since June last year, payroll employments expanded by $2.2 million jobs
(Chart#2), which represents 2.4 percent annual rate of increase. As a result, incomes are rising rapidly.

One more reason for such situation is recently surged value of the dollar.
Understanding the fact, that falling commodity prices and rising dollar cannot last indefinitely, and
maybe even bottomed out for now, I see a lot of perspectives within these markets in one year period.
Moreover, a lot of forecasters expect inflation to move toward two percent goal during this year,
which will result in substantial rise in commodity prices. Although, it is a controversial issue
according to the FED projections for the current and the next year, which have been lowered from
previous numbers (Table#1).
In this case, Fed is unlikely to tight money supply by increasing federal funds rate, which is currently
zero and is a frequently debatable topic. Such policy has a positive impact on a stock market.

Veterinary Medicine Case Study
Introduction
Diagnosis of diseases in the veterinary field by using tissue/cell culture or antibodies, are adopted by
various techniques such as neutralization (Borchers et al., 2005; Taniguchi et al., 2000), Enzyme
Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) (Langedijk, et al., 2001), Agar Gel Immunodiffusion (Alvarez
et al., 2010) and Complement Fixation Test (CFT) (Hartley et al., 2005; Adone et al., 2008). In the
past few years ago onwards, the veterinary diagnosticians has been incorporated new molecular
techniques such as the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and Western blot and improved older
techniques through the use of recombinant antigens, monoclonal antibodies and synthetic peptides

Molecular techniques also provide opportunities to improve antigens that are used to induce
polyclonal or monoclonal antibody production, select monoclonal antibodies that recognise specific
target epitopes and purify antisera for specific diagnostic purposes (Svobodova et al., 2013). Use of
synthetic peptides (those produced by connecting amino acids together in a specified sequence) for
use as positive controls in these assays provides an opportunity to include a specific positive control
without the risks involved in producing killed agents (Langedijk, et al., 2001). Recently, the use of
transgenic plants to express veterinary pathogen proteins has been shown to be an effective method of
producing large amounts of recombinant proteins without the use of animal origin materials (such as
foetal bovine serum or eggs) (Khandelwal et al., 2004, 28). These techniques have been predominantly

Racial Barriers In America
Americans are constantly bombarded by depictions of race relations in the media, which suggest that
discriminatory racial barriers have been dismantled. (Gallagher). We as a society in America think that
everything is over that discrimination is done with. Race is something that is inevitable, but how we
decide to perceive it is our choice, we see it as something not important and that race does not matter
for a long time. So why are Indians to this day segregated from everyone else in reservations. With
separate government still living within the United States, because they were seen as savages and not as
humans. And why did the Irish and Japanese work so hard to become Americans. They wanted to look

Gender Roles In The Movie Gidget
Gidget: Breaking Waves and Gender Role Gidget, a 1959 film about a young girl who falls in love
with surfing, helped establish a prominent foundation for surfing in California. To some, the film may
simply be a feel good story about surfing and American teen culture. To others, it s about breaking
stereotypical gender roles and their associated societal norms. The film released soon after World War
II and the subsequent baby boom. This was a time with gave Americans a fresh new look on life, and a
time when many young adults and teens had plenty of leisure time. Gidget also marked the end of an
era and the start of a new one. Surfing and Gidget play a monumental role in shaping this new era by
defying gender roles and leaving a lasting imprint on society. In 1950 s society, both women and men
had their place. Although men may have more opportunities and differentiation than women, they both
still have their places. Generally, a woman s literal place is in the household, often the kitchen to be
more exact. The typical housewife wears a conservative dress, heels, pearls, and possibly an apron
depending on whether they are on duty or not. This standard lifestyle of women is portrayed well
through Gidget s mother. Gidget, however, does not seem to want to follow in the footsteps of her
mother in this jail cell of a stereotypical matriarchal role. Instead of wiping cake batter off her fingers,
Gidget would rather wipe sand off her feet after a long day of surfing. While

America and Iran s Nuclear Program Essay examples
The ongoing struggle between the Iran and the United States over Iran s quest to acquire nuclear
weapons has led to different ideas and proscriptions to solve the problem. In one particular quote, an
unknown speaker advocates that it is in the best interest of the United States and its allies to strike Iran
if diplomacy fails, calling this the most prudent option. This controversial idea must be considered not
only in its short term effects, but also in the long term result. Although it may be tempting to use
nuclear weapons and long range missiles to disarm Iran, it would be far too costly for the U.S. and its
allies. For this reason, the quote does not present a practical solution to the problem. There are
multiple points in the quote ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The destruction that followed was unparalleled; according to the BBC, over 200,000 people were
killed immediately following the attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki and countless survivors became
sick with radiation related illnesses in the following years (BBC News). There was much criticism
following the nuclear attacks because the majority of those killed were civilians. If such a situation
occurred in Iran, it can only be assumed that results would be similar, if not more devastating. If the
U.S. attacked Iran in a more conventional manner, like a ground invasion, the question of sovereignty
and enforcement of international law is raised. Although the Nuclear Non Proliferation Treaty
prohibits states without nuclear weapons from acquiring them, it is difficult to enforce international
law, especially as states have sovereignty within their own borders. Only a few countries, including
the U.S., are able to threaten and deter countries that violate international law. Because of this, often
the only laws that are enforced are those that concern the most powerful countries. The International
Atomic Energy Agency monitors and investigates countries to guarantee they are not acquiring
nuclear weapons. Recently, the IAEA released a report saying there is a credible belief that Iran is
trying to create a nuclear device; this has heightened tensions between Iran and the U.S. Also at stake
is the United States reputation and position as a world

  • 2. Persian Gulf War Essay The Persian Gulf War all started because of one country s greed for oil. Iraq accused Kuwait of pumping oil and not sharing the benfits, and Kuwait was pumping more oil than allowed under quotas set by the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, it decreased the price of oil, Iraq s main export. Iraq s complaints against Kuwait grew more and more harsh, but they were mostly about money. When Iraqi forces began to assemble near the Kuwaiti border in the summer of 1990, several Arab states tried to intervene the dispute. Kuwait didn t want to look weak so they didn t ask for any help from the United States or other non Arab powers for support. Arab mediators convinced Iraq and Kuwait to negotiate their differences in Saudi Arabia, on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Still other countries made other contributions: Turkey allowed air bases on its territory to be used by coalition planes, and Japan and Germany gave financial support. The primary goal of the force was to prevent further Iraqi action, but most countries were aware the force might eventually be used to drive Iraq from Kuwait. The Iraqis tried to prevent and split the growing international coalition through several means. They made it clear that their adversaries would pay heavily if war broke out, and they hinted they would use chemical weapons and missile attacks on cities. Iraq also held citizens of coalition countries who had been in Kuwait at the time of the invasion and said they would be held in militarily camp areas in effect using them as human shields to prevent coalition attacks. Iraq finally released the last of the foreigners in December 1990 under pressure from several Arab nations. The coalition s greatest military concern during the closing months of 1990 was that Iraqi forces would attack before coalition forces were fully in place, but no such attack took place. On November 29, with coalition forces over whelming in Saudi Arabia and Iraq showing no signs of retreat, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. `` The Lesson `` By Tony Cade Bambara If all your friends jumped off a bridge, would you do it too? Throughout the ages, how many times have parents bellowed these words? Although the question is dreadfully annoying to most children, it is designed to make them think about their individuality and the dangers of conforming. Today, more than ever, with the use of social media, our society is under pressure to conform. With the creation of Facebook and Twitter, our goals are to be friended, liked, followed, and accepted. Is our nation in danger of becoming lemmings? According to an entry in Urban Dictionary written by Aegis Kleais, a lemming is [a] derogatory term used to reference a person who seemingly does not possess any form of individual thought and instead mindlessly follows the behaviors and actions of the masses. Fortunately, short stories such as Tony Cade Bambara s The Lesson (1972) and Langston Hughes Salvation (1940) remind us of both the positive and negative effects of how an individual deals with group conformity and social pressure. The Lesson is a story of a close knit group of children from impoverished Harlem, New York who are taken on a field trip to learn about economic inequality. In Salvation, Hughes recalls his experience of religion as a young child, particularly an intense religious revival. Through the use of setting, characterization, and irony, both authors show the importance of standing up for one s self regardless of social pressure. In each ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Ultimate Question The Ultimate Questions First let me start off my paper by giving thanks. I would like to thank you Lord for loving me enough that he thought I was worth saving and worth keeping. He gave his life for mine, if this wasn t so my presences would not be here. He put into place a Church and its leaders that helped with my feedings of the words of God and as I listened my life began to change. My relationship with him grew personally as well as my spiritually again thank you. Being in this course the History of Ecclesiology and Polity, it has taught me many things about the difference in denominations of the church. In the Pauline letters Paul who was a minister of Christ Jesus wanted us to know what were the structures and order of the Gentile churches of his day. He also wanted today s church to know the normative structures and order as well. Jesus was exceptionally clear on how he wishes His church to be organized and managed here on earth in His word. Jesus first wanted us to know that he is the head and highest authority of the church. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy (Colossians 1:18 NIV). Paul during his time delegated authority to help co work and represent him in the administration of his churches. For example the Missionary letter of Timothy We sent Timothy, who is our brother and co worker in God s service in spreading the gospel of Christ, to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Power Of Conformity In Groups Was Concocted By Solomon Asch The Asch Experiments were a series of studies that demonstrated the power of conformity in groups. The Asch experiment was concocted by Solomon Asch and was a famous psychological experiment that was designed to investigate the extent to which social pressure from a majority group could affect a person to conform. The experiment also shows that one voice can make a difference amongst others. The experiments were made up of visions tests where study participants were found to be more likely to conform to obviously wrong answers if first given by other participants. In the case study, the group was consists of all but one person that was working for Asch (confederates) to test how the remaining student would react to their wrong answer. During the experiment each participant was put into a group with 5 to 7 confederates. The participant was then shown a card with a line on it which was then followed by another card with a line on it labelled a,b,c. The participant was then asked to state which of the lines matched in length to the other card. The participant would answer next to last. In the beginning of the experiment (the first two trails) the subject would feel calm, as he and the others gave the correct answer. Once the first two trails were over all the confederates would give the wrong answer to the task. The hope was to prove whether the real participant would conform to the wrong answer ... • 6. Privacy in the Workplace Explain where an employee can reasonably expect to have privacy in the workplace. Privacy in the workplace is very hard to get. Advancements in technology have been made that allow companies to monitor every aspect of an employee use of their systems. This is very evident if you have a job that involves you to be on the telephones. Companies are able to listen to each phone that is made, see every website that you have visited and read any email you have received. For example, I used to work at AMEX call center, and they were able to monitor each call through a system called N.I.C.E.. Through this system the company was able to monitor my calls for quality control reasons. However, if I made a phone call for personal reasons they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Electronic surveillance is almost a way of life in the United States. Everything from law enforcement, military, government, banks, parking facilities and etc use electronic surveillance. It is usually put into place to enhance the security for people and property, detect wrongful or lawful activities or the interception of information that if let out to the public could be harmful and embarrassing to the company. The only place within a company that I know of that you can t have surveillance is in the restrooms. So, I think that Herman s use of surveillance is sufficient. In business you have to keep your competitive advantage and if an insider who knows your business workings lets it out, that business could quickly be at a disadvantage. Explain to what extent an employer can engage in electronic surveillance of employees. An employer can engage in surveillance of employees at almost any extent possible. As I mentioned earlier an employer surveillance can include keystroke monitoring, reviewing emails, reviewing instant messages, monitoring of conversations, monitoring time spent on the phones as well as the numbers called, video surveillance, drug testing and satellite technology to monitor use of company cars, and cell phones. As long as an employee is using their networks and their systems, cars, cell phones and credit cards, the company can monitor you. Explain to what extent the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Nature Of God Nature of the universe is that God has created life in his image. For God is the embodiment of perfection, the ultimate form of things. Now the maximum in any genus is the cause of all in that genus; as fire, which is the maximum heat, is the cause of all hot things. Therefore there must also be something which is to all beings the cause of their being, goodness, and every other perfection; and this we call God. The foundation of Aquinas work relies on showcasing evidence on the existence of God. He explains that God has laid the foundation for life and gave people wisdom. As a wise architect, I have laid the foundation (1 Cor. 3:10). Again, in the order of all human life, the prudent man is called wise, inasmuch as he directs his acts to a fitting end: Wisdom is prudence to a man (Prov. 10: 23). Therefore he who considers absolutely the highest cause of the whole universe, namely God, is most of all called wise... Hence sacred doctrine is especially called wisdom. People have what they have due to the actions of God; life exists because it was created by God. The nature of man is to learn about ourselves and the world; we do so by having reason. People have reason which holds our hopes, determination, and conscious. Naturally people seek knowledge to fulfill our needs. The method of doing so is using our senses to gather information. So in relation with people using senses to acquire this information, the bible was written for people to gather truths about divine ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The organisation has been growing quickly and has the potential to expand overseas, where most revenue comes from. This requires Sig Processing Systems to have a strong organisational change capacity the ability to adapt to change efficiently (Soparnot, 2011). Judge and Douglas (2009) have identified several factors as contributing to organisational change capacity, one of which is effective communication vertically and horizontally between departments. Analysis of a Story in the Newspaper Introduction News media investigate, analyze, and report to stakeholder publics on issues and event s that occur around the globe in a twenty four hour, 365 day news cycle (Richard,2007:98). • 11. Invasion Of Nazi Germany Essay During most of World War II, Nazi Germany was at the height of power. By this time they had conquered most of Eastern Europe. However on June 22nd 1941, Hitler began the largest military movement in history, the invasion of the Soviet Union. Even though Hitler had signed a Soviet Union Non Aggression pact he began the invasion. Hitler had always showed his hatred of the Jewish people in his book Mein Kampf. Although the invasion of the Soviet Union was the largest military movement in history, it led directly to the downfall of Germany. This can be shown when looking at; the Nazi Soviet Non Aggression pact, Operation Barbarossa, the Soviet winter and finally the consequences of the invasion of Russia. For the Germans, November was a critical month in their campaign, this was when the hard winter closed in, as the Germans expected a rapid collapse of the soviet union they had failed to prepare their troops for the harsh winter, eventually the German troops outran their supply lines, opening a thinly guarded flank opening the opportunity for a soviet counter attack. This caused the Germans plans to fall. ( US Holocaust Memorial Museum) After months of bloody fighting, the German army was exhausted, this and the soviet winter pared together to finally open the German to a soviet counter attack. Their plans for the union to fall had failed and the Germans plan for their military personnel to live off the land had collapsed. As they were advancing quickly they eventually outran their supply lines. Even though they had reach the outskirts of Moscow all that was needed was one more push from the soviets to put the Germans back on the back foot. The different environments help create the different cultures around the world which help shape people personalities and their everyday lifestyle. Each biome has different factors in them that describe them which are their cultures and the three main types of land biomes are the tundra, grassland/desert and forest. The tundra is the lease populated biome on the Earth due to its extremely low temperatures and excessive amount of snow and ice. One group of people called The Inuit are brave enough to live on coastal areas of Arctic tundra including places like Canada, Alaska (USA), Siberia (Russia), and Greenland and within them even smaller groups are formed based on their location within the tundra. • 13. Aging And Negative Stereotypes Of Aging Generally, modern society reinforces negative perceptions of the process of aging, and it is often portrayed in society as being a lonely and depressing experience. These perceptions are important because elderly individuals that have a positive outlook on aging have been linked to better health and psychological well being. This study explores the impact of negative and positive perceptions of aging, held by society, and how they influence aging individuals. Although, some positive stereotypes exist that are associated with the process of aging they are outweighed by negative stereotypes. Labeling Theory suggests that when older individuals are presented with negative stereotypes they themselves will assimilate these ideas, and will preform worse in age related tasks (Kotter Grühn Hess, 2012). In fact studies have shown that when presented with negative reinforcers of aging, individuals show more age related concerns and memory is impacted negatively (Kotter Grühn Hess, 2012). In contrast Resilience Theory suggests that conflict between negative aspects of aging and negative stereotypes can be a pathway to a more positive self perception (Kotter Grühn Hess, 2012). The idea of the theory being when individuals feel threatened by societal views they will compare themselves to those that are worse off than they are, and this will in turn lead to a more positive self perception. One of the compromises was between the slave states and nonslave states. Another dispute the framers had to deal with was the battle between small states and large states. The argument between the slave states and the nonslave states was extremely difficult for the framers to handle mainly because the nonslave states view slavery as an immoral practice and the slave states viewed slavery as a necessary practice for their economic interests. But when it came to slave s congressional representation both sides changed. The nonslave states didn t want the slaves to count in determining the number of House representatives, but the slave states felt that each slave should be counted like every citizen was. So the Framers had to use the Three Fifths Compromise again to settle this dispute. Both sides acted really hypocritical when it came to these two disputes has the nonslave states wanted slaves to count for taxes but not representation and then the slave states wanted them not to be taxed but be used in figuring the number of House representatives. How that power is divided has been a constant source of conflict as each level has some degree of autonomy. The national government is responsible for things of national common interest such as, national defense and foreign policy, as well as, responsibilities through implied powers that are inferred in the Constitution. The United States certainly has the picket fence structure of all three levels of government working together in all areas of political policy, probably more now than ever before in the history of Cooperative Federalism. Our Federal government funds many state programs as in Fiscal Federalism and uses those much needed funds to coerce state governments into complying with federal policy as in Coercive Federalism. In 2009, the United States, under President Obama, began participating in what his administration calls Progressive Federalism. Although this is not mentioned in our text, it has become the policy of the current administration and allows the states to have a greater control over issues normally reserved for the national government. In various instances, states have been able to enforce more regulations on government decrees than necessary. This type of federalism is used in different situations, such as California imposing stricter regulations on the emissions of greenhouse gases in vehicles. This allows the states to still comply with government orders, but add their own additions as well. But other literature suggests that these migrants settle in urban areas and are employed in the urban sector. The model was extensively followed in the 1960 s, but with the advent of globalisation it became an equally urban phenomenon. The main reason behind this is that globalisation along with technological advancement made it easy for people to engage in the informal sector. • 21. Determining The Function Of The Ordinal Scale Before conducting a statistical analysis, every researcher needs to measure the depended variable. The measurement depends on the type of variable. Different types are measured differently. So, the researcher has to decide on the appropriate scale of measurement. There are typically four levels of measurement: nominal, ordinal, interval, and ratio. 1. The purpose of the nominal scale is for identification and represents the lowest level of measurement. With a nominal scale, the researcher only names or categorizes responses (i.e. male/female, high/low, unemployed, employed, retired, student). Thus, nominal scale measures variables that are non numeric or where the numbers have no value. 2. The purpose of the ordinal scale is to allow comparisons of the degree to which two subjects possess the dependent variable. The ordinal scale provides a rank order (i.e. very dissatisfied, somewhat dissatisfied, somewhat satisfied, or very satisfied). However, it is the order of the values that is important, not the differences between them. Ordinal scales usually measures non numeric variables like satisfaction, happiness, discomfort, etc 3. The Interval scale provides information about both the rank order and the exact differences between the values (i.e. pain scale). However, interval scales do not have a true zero point. 4. The Ratio scale (i.e. height and weight) is the most informative scale because it tells the researcher about order, the exact value between units, and has a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In Britain, the British Broadcasting Corporation, also known as the BBC, usurped the radio business in England, filling radiowaves with various programs pertinent to British life. However, by the time the Second World War came to fruition, the BBC claimed English media and turned it into the most essential source of wartime media. England constituted itself of these regions, as well as Britain. Various media methods allowed for regional contribution, but most importantly, for the sake of auxiliary linguistics, Wales and Scotland produced broadcasts in Welsh and Gaelic, respectively (Hajkowski 122). In allowing for synchronicity in England, it became essential for the BBC to focus not solely on the views of the Britons, but rather all the factions that made up England. The allocation of varied viewpoints indicated interests that regional lands perceived about the war and made them popular among the rest of England. This led to the BBC s contribution to the war, as it represented such. To get a better understanding on the interests of England as a whole, the people of England tuned into the programs that the BBC offered in the Empire about the regionally diverse mainland of England. Such broadcasts did not go unnoticed thus allowing for cultural syncretism to spread amongst the citizens of England. Some programs in particular helped define the ideal regionality of the BBC. For example, In Britain Now, in the midst of the war, became popular, attracting almost twenty five percent of radio listeners in Britain (Hajkowski 124). This program established itself as one of the most prolific regional media conduits through which varied broadcasts were shown. Its quality viewership and informative nature made it an efficient consolidation of the traditions in England. Although regional broadcasts had enormous success, the BBC managed to have some difficulty with the ability to broadcast regionally. After watching twisted and bloody horror films, society gets hungry for something more intense, more mysterious and unpredictable, with all of the blood and gore mixed in . People get used to watching ordinary kidnappings and murders and wish for a more intense approach. Although, it is a controversial issue according to the FED projections for the current and the next year, which have been lowered from previous numbers (Table#1). • 32. Veterinary Medicine Case Study Introduction Diagnosis of diseases in the veterinary field by using tissue/cell culture or antibodies, are adopted by various techniques such as neutralization (Borchers et al., 2005; Taniguchi et al., 2000), Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) (Langedijk, et al., 2001), Agar Gel Immunodiffusion (Alvarez et al., 2010) and Complement Fixation Test (CFT) (Hartley et al., 2005; Adone et al., 2008). In the past few years ago onwards, the veterinary diagnosticians has been incorporated new molecular techniques such as the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and Western blot and improved older techniques through the use of recombinant antigens, monoclonal antibodies and synthetic peptides (Okonko et al., 2006). Nowadays, the molecular ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Molecular techniques also provide opportunities to improve antigens that are used to induce polyclonal or monoclonal antibody production, select monoclonal antibodies that recognise specific target epitopes and purify antisera for specific diagnostic purposes (Svobodova et al., 2013). Use of synthetic peptides (those produced by connecting amino acids together in a specified sequence) for use as positive controls in these assays provides an opportunity to include a specific positive control without the risks involved in producing killed agents (Langedijk, et al., 2001). Recently, the use of transgenic plants to express veterinary pathogen proteins has been shown to be an effective method of producing large amounts of recombinant proteins without the use of animal origin materials (such as foetal bovine serum or eggs) (Khandelwal et al., 2004, 28). These techniques have been predominantly applied to the development or improvement of ELISAs and can be used to create highly sensitive screening assays typically designed to detect all infected animals whereas highly specific confirmatory assays was designed to detect only infected animals and reduce the number of ... • 33. Racial Barriers In America Americans are constantly bombarded by depictions of race relations in the media, which suggest that discriminatory racial barriers have been dismantled. (Gallagher). We as a society in America think that everything is over that discrimination is done with. Race is something that is inevitable, but how we decide to perceive it is our choice, we see it as something not important and that race does not matter for a long time. So why are Indians to this day segregated from everyone else in reservations. With separate government still living within the United States, because they were seen as savages and not as humans. And why did the Irish and Japanese work so hard to become Americans. They wanted to look or at least be treated like white people ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Gender Roles In The Movie Gidget Gidget: Breaking Waves and Gender Role Gidget, a 1959 film about a young girl who falls in love with surfing, helped establish a prominent foundation for surfing in California. To some, the film may simply be a feel good story about surfing and American teen culture. To others, it s about breaking stereotypical gender roles and their associated societal norms. The film released soon after World War II and the subsequent baby boom. This was a time with gave Americans a fresh new look on life, and a time when many young adults and teens had plenty of leisure time. Gidget also marked the end of an era and the start of a new one. Surfing and Gidget play a monumental role in shaping this new era by defying gender roles and leaving a lasting imprint on society. In 1950 s society, both women and men had their place. Although men may have more opportunities and differentiation than women, they both still have their places. Generally, a woman s literal place is in the household, often the kitchen to be more exact. The typical housewife wears a conservative dress, heels, pearls, and possibly an apron depending on whether they are on duty or not. This standard lifestyle of women is portrayed well through Gidget s mother. Gidget, however, does not seem to want to follow in the footsteps of her mother in this jail cell of a stereotypical matriarchal role. Instead of wiping cake batter off her fingers, Gidget would rather wipe sand off her feet after a long day of surfing. While ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. America and Iran s Nuclear Program Essay examples The ongoing struggle between the Iran and the United States over Iran s quest to acquire nuclear weapons has led to different ideas and proscriptions to solve the problem. In one particular quote, an unknown speaker advocates that it is in the best interest of the United States and its allies to strike Iran if diplomacy fails, calling this the most prudent option. This controversial idea must be considered not only in its short term effects, but also in the long term result. Although it may be tempting to use nuclear weapons and long range missiles to disarm Iran, it would be far too costly for the U.S. and its allies. For this reason, the quote does not present a practical solution to the problem. There are multiple points in the quote ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The destruction that followed was unparalleled; according to the BBC, over 200,000 people were killed immediately following the attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki and countless survivors became sick with radiation related illnesses in the following years (BBC News). There was much criticism following the nuclear attacks because the majority of those killed were civilians. If such a situation occurred in Iran, it can only be assumed that results would be similar, if not more devastating. If the U.S. attacked Iran in a more conventional manner, like a ground invasion, the question of sovereignty and enforcement of international law is raised. Although the Nuclear Non Proliferation Treaty prohibits states without nuclear weapons from acquiring them, it is difficult to enforce international law, especially as states have sovereignty within their own borders. Only a few countries, including the U.S., are able to threaten and deter countries that violate international law. Because of this, often the only laws that are enforced are those that concern the most powerful countries. The International Atomic Energy Agency monitors and investigates countries to guarantee they are not acquiring nuclear weapons. Recently, the IAEA released a report saying there is a credible belief that Iran is trying to create a nuclear device; this has heightened tensions between Iran and the U.S. Also at stake is the United States reputation and position as a world ...
