The Scavenger Hunt
During this time and age you make that you can find anything within a quick Google search. Well
these students are given extremely hard questions in order to find hid in information online. In order
for students to participate in the scavenger hunt they have to miss classes. So is the scavenger hunt
worth it? Is there any point in the scavenger hunt? And what are its origins. The scavenger hunt
consisted of 260+ high students and 300+ middle school students in the Jefferson state. Every school
has at least 1 coach or mentor. In the state of Jefferson high schools and middle schools compete in
academic competition to find various questions that will take more than just a Google search. An
example of one of these questions is where they give you a picture of a Spanish road that dates back to
the 18th century, It leads to a building that inspired, but could not be used for, the Final scene of a
famous movie from the 1950s. Then it asks you what movie the Spanish road is from. If you don t
think it will be that hard you can go to this link and try it for yourself. ... Show more content on

time students can debate why there answer is right and sometimes even if the student s answer is
wrong they can get points with a successful debate. So why does is the scavenger hunt a thing. Well

Don t Sweat the Small Stuff... Essay
Don t Sweat the Small Stuff... and it s all small stuff
After reading the book Don t Sweat the Small Stuff..., by Richard Carlson Ph.D,
I learned many techniques on how to be a more successful and productive person. By learning how to
deal with preasure and conflicts in a more civil way I am able to free my mind of the daily hassels and
stresses that confront me. Some of my favorite techniques were Ask yourself the question ‘Will This
Matter a Year From Now , Breathe Before
You Speak , Become a Less Aggressive Driver , and The Next Time You Find
Yourself in an Argument, Rather than Defend Your Position, See if You Can See the
Other Point of View First . The new insight that I got using these techniques was ... Show more

It is scary!, but since reading the section on Become a Less Aggressive Driver , I can really now try
and relax while driving. My work is based on driving because I deliver percriptions for a local
pharmacy, so I am in my car all of the time! So being able to relax and not speed through my
deliveries helps me to not care how soon I can make the next delivery, and I still get done close to the
same time. Its a little slower, but I ve noticed that the five minutes of just taking my time really helps
so much because the stress that I have when I get out of my car lasts much longer than five minutes.
Plus, I can think of what I need to get done and organize my thoughts while driving, instead of
worrying about the traffic.
The last topic that I really liked was The Next Time You Find Yourself in an
Argument, Rather than Defend Your Position, See if You Can See the Other Point of
View First . Being able to see the other side is hard for me to do. I am so stuborn. This technique is
one that I really wish that I could accomplish, but it is hard. Just knowing now that there is another
side to the story and the other person does have the same strong feelings that I have is just plain
confusing for me. I mean, it makes logical sense
, but I cannot make any sense of it. This technique does give me some sort of insight as to how
arguements work out, but still doesn t help me much, until I can find a way to view things differently,

Role Of British Imperialism In Great Britain
Great Britain s interest in India first became present in the 1600s. At this time, the British East India
Company had set up trading posts at Bombay, Madras, and Calcutta. India was first set up as a trading
post to benefit Great Britain. After the collapse of the Mughal Empire, the East India Company
became the leading power in India. This company continued to grow in wealth over time. Eventually,
the British government regulate the East India Company s efforts in London and India. The success of
the East India Company had gotten the attention of Great Britain.
The East India Company was ruled by the Indians for a long time. There was very little interference
when it came to the British government. The East India Company even had its own sepoys. Great
Britain treasured India because it had great potential. During the time of Industrial Revolution,
production flourished in Great Britain. The British imperialist began searching for new raw materials
within other countries, India was the answer to Great Britain s prayers. India became a major supplier
of raw materials for Great Britain. It also had a large population of about 300 ... Show more content on

British held most of the political and economic power. Things like cash crops became very
insignificant for the Indian villagers. It decreased the food production which led to the increase of
famines within India. Finally, it brought more racists to India which threatened their traditional
lifestyles. There were positives to work in with the British. For example, their railroad network
became the third largest in the world. After the railroads were completed it allowed India to modernize
its economy. Modernization brought things such as, a modern road network, telephone and telegraph
lines, dams, bridges, and irrigation canals. Sanitation and public health also increased, along with
school literacy. Finally, the British got rid of the local warfare among competing local

Modern Day Slavery Of Thailand
Modern day Slavery in Thailand
Every year, Thailand experiences high rates of human trafficking from its rural parts and from its the
neighboring countries in the Greater Mekong Sub region. Sex trafficking is not just described as the
trade in humans for sexual slavery but also consists of forced marriages or even martyr organ donors.
Trafficking is often seen through the hue of sexual slavery and it is critical to understand the social,
political and economic reasons that contribute to the growth of human trafficking in Thailand. Since
the Vietnam War, sex trafficking has been on a constant rise due to foreign troops being the very first
clients to sex workers, there has been a perception of Thailand as a sought of after destination for ...

Hence the question that arises is that despite all of this, why does sex trafficking endure? The reason is
because sex trafficking has slowly become a part of Thailand s cultural heritage, so much so that it s
religious, economic and political background has become a viable reference point.
Religious norms also play an important part in constructing the social status of women in Thailand.
Communities such as the ethnic Akha that is predominantly a Buddhist community, accredits in the
strict readings on the basic truths of Karma. Seabrook further elaborates that women are inherently
impure and carnal according to various undeniable Buddhist sects and these communities relate the
involvement of women in sex trade as a consequence of their karma, their demerit in a former life. In
this way, men can express lust without demerit because it is caused by women (qtd. in Mah, 80). This
specific reading of Buddhist sects exempts men from any sins when associated with human
trafficking. Moreover, the spiritual beliefs associated with the social status of the women grants the
same status to be cemented into a culture. Religious norms then become a principal factor in
determining the cultural values of a community, especially in rural areas. Hence, it creates a feedback
loop of religious values that allows men to consume prostitution without fear of wrongdoings

Under this section, by analyzing a past event where Volkswagen had changed its corporate governance

remuneration and incentive systems were changed in the 2000 as a result. We will also discuss and
evaluate the implications of its most recent remuneration scheme changes since 2011. Due to
increased competition and dismal record of profitability of the auto industry in 1993, top management
at Volkswagen had been adopting the shareholder value principles as the new style of corporate
governance. In achieving the financial and profitability goals set by management, series of steps were

The first stock option plan was also introduced in 1999. Its main feature is that it is also open to
ordinary blue and white collar employees. Subscription limitation was divided according to three
groups: 1. wage and salary earners subject to collective agreements, 2. salary earners and management
not subject to collective agreements below top management, 3. top management. Employees of the
first group can subscribe for ten options, the second for 100 options, and the third for 1,000 options.
Each option gives the right to buy 10 shares. The subscription of stock options assumed that the
employee also subscribed for time asset papers. For each option employee had to have 100 DM on his
time asset paper account. Thus the time asset scheme was supported and facilitated by means of the
share option plan.
For tax reasons the time asset paper is in particular advantageous for managers. They are made more
attractive by linkage to the stock option schemes. The time asset scheme can thus also help to solve
problems of retaining personnel.
Nevertheless, tying bonuses to performances requires a detailed area specific planning and a

The Computational Theory Of Mind By Steven Pinker
The computational theory of mind explains that our brains are made of information processors. Every
part of brain neuron s axon and molecules, all these nerve cell s propose is to be an information
carrier. The neurons are like sophisticated chips and with billion of neurons, you ended up with one
powerful computational device, which is brain. Brain is one hunk of matter that is intelligent things
that allows human beings to have cognitive equipment to processes of human perception, problem
solving, and decision making. The demons is a system that contains a memory and reflexes. These
demons are triggered by information and connected to sense. The mind is a product of natural
selection and in that sense, the mind is our ancestor s past. Our ancestor s beliefs and desires are
information, as part of our brain. The computational theory of mind allows us to keep this information
(beliefs and desires) in our explanations of behavior. By doing this, the meaning ended up to cause and
be cause. Steven Pinker believed that computational theory of mind came about through natural
selection in order for our ancestors to solve and problems with the new conditions such as figuring out
of how to defeat the plants and animals defenses before they counteract. The software that we
inherited from our ancestor has ability of natural computation due to the goals and desires that are
preprogrammed. Our minds are calculating the costs and benefits of decisions with our ancestor s past

Similarities Between Harrisonson Hargeron And Harrison...
2081 PROJECT
How can we tell if a character in a book is a Christ figure? Harrison Bergeron is an appropriate
example. He went through and done things that Christ had done such as being persecuted for his faith,
carried a beam of wood on his shoulders, and came to rescue the unqualified world. Harrison was
taken away from home and went through series of rough treatment. He was terrorized for his beliefs,
as with Jesus when He suffered the same way. In addition, the story reads, he wore earphones that
dulled his intelligence, weights that strapped him to decrease his strength, wavy glasses that made him
half blind, and a wooden beam on his shoulders to cut his mobility. Coincidentally, Jesus had to carry
a wooden cross on His shoulder to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Beside the differences, Harrisson was killed for his actions on both story and movie including the fact
that he stated on how the Handicap General treated and handled him. At the end, Harrison was
relatively different between the story and the movie although there were similarities.
The differences between George Bergeron and I are striking, and we deserve a thorough investigation.
We are separate in two ways: intelligence quotient and physical appearance. George lives with his
wife, Hazel in an era where there s nothing, but equality. His son, Harrison was taken away by the HG
men, due to his mental and physical potential. In both story and the movie, George is shown to have
handicaps and earphones, signally that he is mentally more capable of having an extremely high
intelligence quotient; while I on the other hand, does have an average intelligence quotient, but not as
smart or as elevated as George. And George, while his intelligence was way above normal, had a little
mental handicap radio in his ear. It is not very clear that George is fairly aged in the story, but the
movie says else wise. In my head, it seemed as if George was younger than the movie version of him.
Through the movie, George is physically displayed as a balding, aged man with the looks of a seventy
or an eighty year old man. George often goes into deep thought about various things that in which can
get him shocked from the Government. On the other hand, I love to go into deep thought

Youth And The Hip Hop Youth Culture
Australian Youth Culture
Introduction
Youth has various definitions. It can be considered as a state of mind, a life stage, or a stage of
development. Youth can also be considered as a creation of marketing and a demographic category.
Youth cultures as well as subcultures based on the theory or theories applied refer to cultures that in
most part comprise of young people as the members. Youth cultures are determined by ways of living
and they revolve around peer groups that stress a definitive style of living as an external designation of
affiliation and appearance. In this essay, I will analyse how globalisation, popular culture, and
consumerism emerge as factors that influence the participation of young people in the hip hop youth
culture in Australia. I will also apply the human ecological theory in order to facilitate the
understanding of factors that affect youth participation in the hip hop culture.
Culture is generally described as a way of life. It entails the meanings, values, practices, and beliefs
that are usually contrasted with structure, nature, and biology (Alim, 2006). As a concept, culture can
be divided into two. The first classification of culture is the expressive culture form which comprises
of argot, artifact, behaviour, and clothing that constitute the expression of a given youth culture (ibid).
The second classification of culture is the impressive form of culture content. This implies to the
culture meaning (ibid). In the same vein, youth

Adversity In The Hunger Games
We live in a world many people or actions can bring misfortunes towards society; however, through
those dark times, there is always going to be light that shines in a person that can impact the world or
a just a single person. Many people can be given a platform through these situations in which they are
able to gain the talent of speaking their minds or having the determination to make the situation better.
Others are able to have the talent of writing down the issues going on without expressing the idea in
general, they have the talent of bringing awareness through writing. Horace states the following,

Adversity can help bring a deeper meaning towards an issue or the problem. Katniss in The Hunger
Games by Suzanne Collins is an example of when adversity can bring an eye opener of the deeper
meaning of a problem. Katniss in The Hunger Games is faced with the problem of doing what is right
in a situation in which you don t know what to do. She was able to change the viewpoint of the capital
when she expresses her views of the games. She is able to bring a change of demeanor of the people
and was able to bring hope to those in the districts. Katniss had the talent of making people realize the
situation they are in and she was able to bring awareness, however, this was not easy to accomplish. If
people are not put in a position of adversity then they will always have a blindfold over their eyes and
become oblivious to the situation or turn their cheeks on the problem. Suzanne Collins through her
writing was able to connect to the issues in which people face in society, that doing the right choices

My Learning Goal At The Margaret Sloss Women s Center
My learning goal at the Margaret Sloss Women s Center was to develop organizational skills for
planning programs in a feminist workspace. The Margaret Sloss Women s Center is a valuable
resource on campus, not only for women, but also for all students at Iowa State University. Having
volunteered at the Sloss house since my freshman year, I wanted to learn more about the background
work behind all the great events they organize. This internship gave me a great opportunity to develop
organizational skills to coordinate various programs. In this essay I will demonstrate the nature of my
participation during the course of this semester at the Margaret Sloss Women s Center.
I chalked out a plan for my internship with Som, the interim director of the Margaret Sloss Women s
Center. Every week I had office hours, staff meetings, and one on one meeting with Som. I took up a
lead on existing programs and events like Who Needs Feminism? , Equal Pay Day, volunteer training,
and presentations. I helped out with events such as The Vagina Monologues, Take back the Night,
Gender Equity awards, The Gender Monologues. Additionally, I created my own program in the honor
of the International Women s Day.
Who Needs Feminism? is an international movement trying to encourage individuals to find their
reason for needing feminism and break common misconceptions surrounding the term feminism.
Through this project we hope to foster critical conversation about feminism and intersectionality. I

Argumentative Essay On Organic Farming
Organic farming has become a central decision for various farmers and eliminates conventional
farming practices. Conventional farming has put a risk on both the grower and the people consuming
the products. Although genetically modified food has provided the masses with quicker access to food
sources, it has also impacted people with many issues unlike organic farming such as Polyface Farms.
Therefore, farms should gear towards organic farming like Polyface Farms because it reduces the risk
of environmental impacts in agriculture due to climate change, depletes the need for genetically
modified food by inducing a nutritious diet reducing health risks, and drives an opportunity for higher
wages to unconventional organic farmers.
Unlike conventional farming practices, organic farming eliminates the chances of environmental
climate change. In this case, organic farming can repeal greenhouse effects caused by pollution in the
air and the sources of the people s food supply. Based on the documentary film Food Inc, a man by the
name of Gary Hirshberg, CEO of Stonyfield Farms, addresses the basis of The [arresting of] global
warming and reversing the toxification of our air, our food and our water (1:00:37 1:00:42). In other
words, global warming has become a widespread issue and correlates towards the methods of
conventional farming with chemicals being induced into the environment for genetically modified

Examples Of Stereotypes In Mean Girls
Mean Girls is a must see teenage movie. If you haven t seen it, you aren t fetch (a.k.a. cool). I
remember when I first saw the movie around age eight, and I believed girls and boys were exactly
how they were portrayed in the movie. I was sitting around with my best friends in our sleeping bags
giggling just like every other young girl would at a movie like this one. Though the acting is
exaggerated, it is effective in portraying the stereotypes of cliques among high schools through its
characters, actresses/actors, special effects, and costumes. It s one of those movies where it s so bad it
s good. The acting is meant to be terrible. For example, a dumb blonde known as Karen says, If you re
from Africa, why are you white? . This was a perfect role play of the stereotypical white, blonde chick.
The actress, Amanda Seyfried, completely captures the role with a dumbfounded expression.
However, blondes aren t always dumb. I know one girl who is absolutely genius and could say the
formula for every crazy scientific thing out there. If we look beyond this, though, and think way back
to elementary/middle school, most of us can agree we had the same stereotype of a dumb high school
blonde. As for Lindsay ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Education Support For Disabled Students
As a future educator, it is essential to note the critical issue that has been floundering about throughout
the school system, the insufficient educational support for disabled students. This critical issue is not
only present in the United Stated, but it has also moved beyond our boundaries. Whether a school
system simply does not provide the necessary services a student requires, there is a lack of movement
toward a least restrictive environment, or a school simple does not feel the need to implement
necessary changes that would create a more inviting placed for education, the school system (in my
opinion) is providing insufficient educational support for the disabled students. Through the
development of educational improvements such as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If a teacher of a special education classroom is working with 15 different students who have different
learning styles and needs, that makes the teacher s position very difficult, especially if they did not
receive the needed training in order to do so (Petersen, 2016). It is essential to serve every single one
of our students (whether they have a disability or not), however if a educational system is not properly
training their teachers, who are then not providing the needed adjustments for the lesson, then the
entire school system is providing insufficient educational support for their disabled students, and for
every student for that matter. The fact that insufficient training is occurring is only the surface of the
issue, school system are also lacking in the movement towards a least restrictive environment.
Through the implementation of IDEA, schools need to work with their student in order for them to be
placed in an environment that is best for them as well as close to a general classroom as possible.
Unfortunately, Kurth, Morningstar, and Kozleski (2014) has reveled that school systems are not
tracking data efficiently, to the point that it is making it very difficult to determine exactly where a
student needs to be placed. Additionally, there seems to be a misunderstanding on how exactly schools
need to collect data on their special education students, which then provides the given state incorrect
data to work with in order to make

Essay On If I Were President
If I Were President
Introduction
Raising NASA s budget could change the future for the entire population of Earth. If I were to be
president, I would bump up NASA s finances to help them find more planets in outer space. More
money would allow NASA to try to find new species that have never been seen before. Also, if a new
planet is found that could inhabit humans and other species, then maybe we could send criminals
there. Then here on Earth, we would have a more peaceful life. NASA needs more money that can
help pay for more useful and newer technology to find another planet. Bringing up NASA s budget
could lead to marvelous studies and programs. For example, we would be able to find new species that

Sending Criminals to A Different Planet
The second switch I would make would be to lift up NASA s funds to discover other planets where we
could send criminals. Thus, by doing this it could make our nation more peaceful. By sending
criminals away to a different planet we would not need jails. This could lead to more housing,
playgrounds, even a place for more buildings to help get jobs to unemployed people. Additionally, we
could send people to another planet if they intend to do crummy and sinful things to people and
animals. If we are able to get all malicious people off of Earth, then we would not have to worry about
being hurt by the stranger next to us. Living our lives without worrying about being hurt or killed
could change the way people live their lives. This would be an effective change that I would make if I
were to be President.
New Planet Found
Above all, the third adjustment that would happen if NASA s budget was raised, would result in
making newer and more efficient technology to help them find a new planet. Recently, at NASA s
Space Telescope, astronomers had found the first Earth size planet orbiting a star in the habitable zone.
While planets had been found before, they are all at least 40 percent larger in size than Earth and
understanding their makeup is challenging. The new planet orbits its star once every 130 days and can

Metaphors In The Poem Hope
What is hope? I think hope is a feeling of wanting something to happen. According to Lisel Mueller,
written in 1976, her poem Hope is about how hope could be found everywhere and is part of
everything, even in the roughest situations. I think the theme of this poem is that hope is present, even
if it is extremely hard to find. Mueller uses many metaphors to describe hope as if it were something
else. Mueller uses metaphors to help show where hope could be found and broaden its understanding.
She presents metaphors on how hope is hiding, is in nature, and is found somewhere else. The first
three lines of the poem is a great way to describe hope. It hovers in dark corner/ before the lights are
turned on, this shows that hope is hiding and isn t seen. I think that this means hope is hard to find. For
example, many individuals have something terrible happen and have zero hope in anything getting
better. They will also feel like life will always be hard, and something bad will always happen no
matter the situation, I know this from personal experiences. Not only does Mueller use metaphors to
show how it s hiding, she uses it in nature. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It explodes in the starry heads/ of dandelions turned sages, I think Mueller is comparing hope with
nature. I think this because many people don t even notice a dandelion but some like to make a wish
and blow the starry heads. I think to Mueller the dandelion is hope, some people see it and there are
those who don t. Another example Mueller gives is, It sprouts in each occluded eye/ of many eyed
potato, I think this shows that even a potato is gives hope to someone. A potato isn t hopeful for some,
but for others it would probably be the world. Nature may be a sign of hope but Mueller also use hope

Beaver Fur Trade
Envisioning today s world without the events of the seventeenth century is a genuine awakening.
From the conquests of the Americas by the Europeans to traditional isolationist views in Asia, one
could sufficiently argue this period in history as being the catalyst that ushered in the interdependent
society enjoyed by those who presently inhabit the earth. Furthermore, the integration of people and
cultures led to numerous indispensable discoveries of goods in foreign lands. The global market
exploded as trade became prominent, and people s definition of amenity changed to that which meant
they needed it because they wanted it. Slaves, blue and white china, silver, and spices are only a few

This dish represents much more in the bigger scheme of the world than one might imagine. There had
been bitter conflict in the years prior to the rise in popularity of fine china in Europe between the
Dutch and Spanish. This fact is exemplified in the line, . . . Spain was the [Dutch] arch enemy: Spain
was the state that had occupied the Low Countries in the sixteenth century and had used spectacular
violence to suppress the Dutch independence movement (Brook 64). Being Portugal was in alliance
with the Spanish made their vessels fair game to be apprehended at sea by the Dutch. This occurred
with the Dutch occupying the two Portuguese ships; San Iago and Santa Catarina. Thus, it was by
domination that the inaugural shipments of fine china made its way to the Dutch country. Explaining
the arrival of the acquired Portuguese goods in Amsterdam, Brooks writes, Onto the docks of that city
emerged the first great trove of china to reach Holland, and buyers from all over Europe fought for a
piece (Brooks 63). While some goods were traded or confiscated to appease the masses personal
wants, other exchanges taking place in the time period of Vermeer was solely for survival. This
introduces the need for more than trade to survive. The need for a recognized world currency was at

I Have Chosen The City Of Vaughan
I have chosen the city of Vaughan, ON, to be a potential area that I would like to see my future
practice dwell in. I have lived here for over 20 years and truly enjoy everything the city has to offer.
The population of Vaughan has grown by over 184% since 1991 and continues to grow on a yearly
basis. It is open to a majority of cultures but the most prevalent culture being the Italian population.
Key Factors:
Italian population o One of the reasons I chose to research Vaughan, ON as a potential destination to
practice, was because of the fact that many Italians reside in the town. Coming from an Italian family
myself, having an Italian name and speaking Italian will potentially give me an advantage over the

I can get into contact with the local politicians and try to promote my practice through them. For the
younger population, I want to attend local gyms where I can promote health and wellness. By having
the advantage of living in Vaughan for over 20 years, I know where all the local hot spots are located,
I know where to go in order target certain groups and most importantly, I am known all around the
city, either by working various part time jobs or by volunteering with certain charitable organizations.
I look forward to the opportunity of graduating and getting my name out there even more.
High household income o Due to the fact that the average household income in Vaughan, ON is the
highest in the province, this will translate into more expensive leases and higher overall property tax,
which will ultimately have an impact on my practice. However, this also means that I could charge
higher rates and stay competitive with the surrounding clinics.
1.7 Services, products and pricing
Diversified chiropractic treatment o Using high velocity, low amplitude thrusts of different variations
in order to treat the affected area. o Many chiropractors in Vaughan continue to use the subluxation
model of care. This will provide us with an advantage in order to target individuals wanting
diversified treatment. To further differentiate ourselves, treatment could be provided in Italian
language if the patients prefer in order to enhance the patient doctor relationship

convenient meal which can be purchased from all supermarkets and shops. In the informal sector it is
sold to the communities and it is a cheap meal and an easy meal to make as it only requires water to be

Why the informal sector is so important in South Africa
There is a very wide range of economic activities in the informal sector in South Africa. The informal
sector is made up of street vendors, taxi drivers, home based care workers and rubbish collectors.
The most popular in the informal sector is the retail trade of goods and services. Over 1 million people
are involved in this activity and another 300 000 in community and social services. Together these
sectors make up around 60% of all employment in the informal economy. The informal sector assists
with job creation and reduces unemployment and poverty in South Africa.

Similarities And Differences Between The Iliad And Arjuna
Many books of literature, no matter what time period they were written or who the author is, have
many similarities. The books The Iliad and Bhagavad Gita are great examples of this. These two
books consist of many of the same themes and characteristics within the readings that cause them to
relate to each other. On the other hand, they also have some characteristics that contradict themselves
in different ways. In the book The Iliad the author Homer, explains a story revolving around a Greek
hero named Achilles. Both stories have two main characters, Achilles and Arjuna, which really have
many of the same characteristics within them. Both Achilles from The Iliad and Arjuna from
Bhagavad Gita have many similar aspects about themselves and what s expected of them in their daily
life. The main theme characteristics that I m going to discuss in this essay is what duty each character
plays in their culture or what role they are expected to take on. I m also going to compare War
between the two stories. Both readings have many similar views under these topics but also have some
differences within them. In this essay, I will be explaining the characteristics that are similar in both
stories along with the characteristics that contradict in the pieces. In the story Bhagavad Gita there is a
central focus of war between lands in order to take back the kingdom. Arjuna has a mission of taking
back the kingdom with Sri Krishna guiding him. Although Arjuna has a duty to claim the

The Inhumanity Of Nose In Gogol s The Overcoat
Even Kovalev begins to believe that this is something normal for a nose to leave the face of its owner

perceives this matter as a matter almost about himself in essence the nose makes him. This shows the
inhumanity in Kovalev that his nose is what defines him, that he is not really a person without his
nose. Kovalev does not even recognize his own humanity. Kovalev holds that lacking an arm, leg, or
ear would be better than lacking a nose because if one lacks a nose then he is not even a citizen and
should be chucked out a window. This also illustrates Kovalev s inability to recognize a person s

Good Journalism and Citizenship
The world is a hectic mess today. News is happening all around us, and the only source that acts as a
filter between the chaos and ourselves is the media. The media, journalists especially, must hold upon
themselves a great responsibility when they are acting as this filtering apparatus between the ordered
and unordered. But is that the only thing journalism does: make sense of the news? No, it does much
more than that. Good journalism is working, with help from the citizenry, to create an enlightened
Republic filled with citizens who will be well informed of the events which intersect their lives. There

And this is not only a discussion between citizens and citizens or leaders and leaders but rather
between citizens and leaders; the press simply acts as a medium. Justice Douglas wrote in New York
Times Co. v. United States that [o]pen debate and discussion of public issues are vital to our national
health. On public questions there should be uninhibited, robust, and wide open debate. Although
debate and discussion are vital to the Republic, maybe society should rethink about how uninhibited,
robust, and wide open those debates really are. Society today tends to think of debates as two
opposing ideas battling each other out in order to ascertain which idea comes out in first, and, as
Kovach and Rosenstiel point out, a debate focused only on the extremes of argument does not serve
the public but instead leaves most citizens out (167). The problem with this is that there are not only
one or two given positions on any given issue, but there are many positions. In the debates that go on
today, those positions which are often left out are often those which are also most agreeable with each
other. So instead of letting debates focus only on the extremes, [t]he public forum must include the
broad areas of agreement, where most of the public resides and where the solutions to society s
problems are found (Kovach and Rosenstiel 167). And since it is the news media which

The Importance Of Omniscience In The Holy Spirit
It is crucial that Christians not only put trust in God and the Son but that Christians also entrust
themselves in the Holy Spirit, considering he is fully divine and personal. The Spirit of God, who
raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will
give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you. (Romans 8:11) Paul is declaring
that through the spirit God will give believers new life, in which humans are transformed into the
likeness of Christ Making the debate over foreknowledge is one of the liveliest debates within
evangelicalism today. (Boyd, Eddy 49) According to The Pocket Dictionary of Theological Terms
Foreknowledge is defined as To know in advance . Regarding foreknowledge, Arminian and
Calvinists disagree on how God acquires his knowledge. Calvinists believe that God foreknows all
that shall come to pass because he predestined it. Others, called Arminians, believe God foreknows all
things simply because they shall come to pass, though humans to some extent determine it by their
free will. (Boyd, Eddy 48) All orthodox Christians believe it is true that God is omniscient. The
question is if God knows every detail of the future or only enough where people are still free in their
decisions. It could be that God has some details of the future, but one decides definite details by their
own free will. Geneses 17:5 reads, No longer will you be called Abram; your name will be Abraham,

According to Harris Perry, in Sister Citizen, there are three essential elements in the emotion of shame

two elements of shame because it can be debilitating. Physical withdrawal can cause Black women

Differences Between The Crucible Movie And Movie
The Crucible, an original play written by Arthur Miller, has had a multitude of adaptations come out
after its release in 1953. Among these adaptations are the movie, The Crucible, directed by Nicholas
Hytner and starring Daniel Day Lewis and Winona Ryder and local performances of the play, such as
the one seen at the Civic Theatre. The Crucible is about the people of Salem, MA and trouble of the
accusations of witchery after Abigail, the niece of Reverend Parris, has an affair with the married John
Proctor and he denies her when she attempts to do it again. Specifically, Abigail s reaction to the
rejection in the movie is portrayed so much more realistic than it is in the play and the entire cast
portraying their characters realistically for how it was appropriate for the setting of the movie.
Although the movie was exceptional in content, the universal portrayal of the characters was better in
the movie. Overall, The Crucible movie version, directed by Nicholas Hytner, portrayed the characters
better the play because Winona Ryder portrayed Abigail Williams better than the written play did, and
the cast as a whole worked together to create the mood of the historical time period of both the Salem
Witch Trials and the communist era. Additionally, even though the written play was amazing due to it
being first , the movie was still better at portraying the development of the characters.

The Uses Of Coco Chanel And The 2.55 Handbags
In 1929 Gabrielle Chanel had designed a versatile and practical purse with straps which would
become her famous 2.55 bag. She was tired of carrying her handbag in her arms, creating the iconic
quilted purse that is coveted today (Hess, 2015, p.152). The 2.55 handbag bears the particular name

The 2.55 quilted bags were made from jersey fabrics or soft leather in the familiar shades of brown,
black, navy and beige. It was inspired by the jackets worn by jockeys. It was stitched over padding to

information about this growing population. (Aging, 2013)
What types of legislation may or may not be affected by the aging population?
The two types of legislation that may or may not affect the aging population in the United States are;
The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 and the Health Care and Education
Affordability Reconciliation Act of 2010 respectively. Population aging may affect financial markets if
individuals tend to amass assets during their working years and spend them during retirement. When
there is a large cohort such as the baby boom, there may be more demand than usual for corporate
stock and other assets while the cohort saves for retirement. This demand for corporate stock and other
assets may abate after the cohort retires. (tonihansberry, 2012)

long enough for them to enter the business, establish a competitive advantage and also build the firm.
This is only predictably possible because there are no major players out there who are working on a
similar product and Newland Medical already has a patent. The market size is roughly about $200 M ,
just right for entry and is well projected to grow.
All in all it can be concluded that the Opportunity looks

Book Report On Night By Elie Wiesel
In the memoir, Night, by Elie Wiesel, gives you an overview of how the Jews were treated in the
Holocaust. Many rights of the Jews were violated during the Holocaust. For example, when the Jews
were first taken to the concentration camps, they were stripped of their clothes and anything of value.
Another example, is that when they were put on the train, they were all fighting each other for the
food and stealing from each other. Finally another example, was they were all crammed into small
areas with a lot of people and even bodies of dead people and had very small amounts of food and
water, pretty much only enough to keep them alive.
During the Holocaust many Jews were treated like animals. The soldiers would bring them to the
camps and immediately

Cambodi The Khmer Rouge
In April 1975, Cambodia history would be changed forever. This was the start of Cambodia genocide.
Pol Pot, the leader of the Khmer Rouge, became the ruler of Cambodia. He did not like the idea of
them influenced by other countries. Khmer Rouge persecuted all the educated citizens. They
persecuted doctors, lawyers, police, and former military. They even prosecuted Buddhists, Christians
and Muslims. Khmer Rouge then put all the citizens in living arrangements according to their trust.
The old citizens were the most trust worthy. Then, the pro west and city dwellers were called new
citizens . The last groups were the candidates and full right citizens . Anybody that refused re
education were killed in the fields or at the prison camp Tuol Sleng Centre. Khmer Rouge killed over
1.7 million people. In January 1979, Khmer Rouge was removed from power by Vietnam communist.
Ever since the genocide, Cambodia became one of the least developed countries in the world.
According to United Nations Inter Agency Project on Human Trafficking, Poverty, lack of education,
and employment opportunities have left many Cambodians, particularly women and children, in
extremely vulnerable situations . This would cause people to find many different ways to make
money. Families would sell their daughters to brothels to pay off debts. Girls who are forced to work
in brothels endure rape, abuse and torture.
Despite its recent economic growth in the past few years, Cambodia still remains one of

The Reliable Narrator In Bartleby The Scrivener
Bartleby the Scrivener is the story of a person who seems to be very displaced in society. He is not
really sure what his purpose is and never really finds his way. Dan McCall focuses most of his critical
work on the narrator, when the story is in fact about the character of Bartley. Dan s critical work may
be further persuading if he focused more of his writing on the actual character of Bartleby, whom the
story is titled after. If The Reliable Narrator could have gone into more detail about how the narrator s
actions related to or affected Bartleby, McCall could have had a much stronger case. Why put so much
focus on the narrator when there are so many questions to be answered about Bartleby. In Bartleby, the
readers get to see the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If McCall had put more of a focus on Bartleby and how the narrator influenced Bartleby, his work
may have been more persuasive in getting others to agree with his view of the narrator. McCall writes,
Every virtue I see in the man, they see as a vice; where I see his strength, they see his weakness; what
I see as his genuine responsiveness, they see as his cold self absorption (266). In Bartleby, the reader
gets to see a glimpse into Bartleby and the narrator s relationship. It is clear that the narrator is really
trying to help Bartleby in the end, and if McCall had gone on and elaborated on his points mentioned
above, explaining how he sees these characteristics of the narrator affecting Bartleby, he may have had
a stronger argument. Another section where McCall s argument could be made stronger if he added
how it relates more to Bartleby is when he writes, The Lawyer is constantly trying to use Bartleby s
plight to touch off his own emotions (270). If McCall elaborated on how the lawyer is trying to use
Bartleby s troubles to touch off his own emotions he might have made a more logical argument.
Adding more detail to this statement would give the readers more information or insight into the
relationship of the narrator and

Heat Treatment And Qualitative Metallographic Analysis Lab...
Heat Treatment and Qualitative Metallographic Analysis Lab ME 3228: Mechanics Materials
Laboratory Summary Comparing a material s initial treatment and the microstructures that are formed
from different processes, an engineer can accurately understand why certain treated materials of the
same family can be stronger than another. In this experiment annealed and cold worked specimens of
AISI 1018 STEEL are used, along with a Hardness tester, a grinding and polishing process, and a
micrograph to see the grain structure of the steel. After putting a specimen through a process using
each piece of equipment, grain structures of differently treated materials can be compared. The
Hardness Tester gives a value of the strength of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This can be confirmed by comparing data from the experiment to accepted data for non treated AISI
1018 steel. During the experiment, two metal specimens were tested on the hardness testing machine,
using the HRB scale. From these values the hardness and tensile strength of the specimens can be
calculated and compared. After this, the two specimens were put through a polishing process. This
process leaves the specimens with a mirror like finish. A 2% Nital solution, a combination of nitric
acid and methanol, is then put on the polished faces. The specimens are then ready to be viewed under
the microscope where the grain structures can be observed. The treatment these metals have
experienced should affect certain properties of their microstructure. It is expected that the fully
annealed specimen will be softer than the untreated specimen because larger grains are produced in
the annealing process, unlike that of the cold worked specimen. This specimen will be harder and have
a higher strength than the untreated specimen because the cold working makes the grains smaller and
more compact. There may be some error associated with the results obtained in this experiment due to
imperfections in material handling and flaws in the specimens, but it is expected that this experiment
accurately illustrates how the treatment process affects the properties of metals.

By learning how to deal with preasure and conflicts in a more civil way I am able to free my mind of the daily hassels and stresses that confront me. Some of my favorite techniques were Ask yourself the question ‘Will This Matter a Year From Now , Breathe Before You Speak , Become a Less Aggressive Driver , and The Next Time You Find Yourself in an Argument, Rather than Defend Your Position, See if You Can See the Other Point of View First . It is scary!, but since reading the section on Become a Less Aggressive Driver , I can really now try and relax while driving. My work is based on driving because I deliver percriptions for a local pharmacy, so I am in my car all of the time! So being able to relax and not speed through my deliveries helps me to not care how soon I can make the next delivery, and I still get done close to the same time. Its a little slower, but I ve noticed that the five minutes of just taking my time really helps so much because the stress that I have when I get out of my car lasts much longer than five minutes. Plus, I can think of what I need to get done and organize my thoughts while driving, instead of worrying about the traffic. The last topic that I really liked was The Next Time You Find Yourself in an Argument, Rather than Defend Your Position, See if You Can See the Other Point of View First . Being able to see the other side is hard for me to do. I am so stuborn. This technique is one that I really wish that I could accomplish, but it is hard. Just knowing now that there is another side to the story and the other person does have the same strong feelings that I have is just plain confusing for me. I mean, it makes logical sense , but I cannot make any sense of it. This technique does give me some sort of insight as to how arguements work out, but still doesn t help me much, until I can find a way to view things differently, and ... Sex trafficking is not just described as the trade in humans for sexual slavery but also consists of forced marriages or even martyr organ donors. Trafficking is often seen through the hue of sexual slavery and it is critical to understand the social, political and economic reasons that contribute to the growth of human trafficking in Thailand. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hence the question that arises is that despite all of this, why does sex trafficking endure? The reason is because sex trafficking has slowly become a part of Thailand s cultural heritage, so much so that it s religious, economic and political background has become a viable reference point. Religious norms also play an important part in constructing the social status of women in Thailand. Communities such as the ethnic Akha that is predominantly a Buddhist community, accredits in the strict readings on the basic truths of Karma. Seabrook further elaborates that women are inherently impure and carnal according to various undeniable Buddhist sects and these communities relate the involvement of women in sex trade as a consequence of their karma, their demerit in a former life. In this way, men can express lust without demerit because it is caused by women (qtd. in Mah, 80). This specific reading of Buddhist sects exempts men from any sins when associated with human trafficking. Moreover, the spiritual beliefs associated with the social status of the women grants the same status to be cemented into a culture. Religious norms then become a principal factor in determining the cultural values of a community, especially in rural areas. Hence, it creates a feedback loop of religious values that allows men to consume prostitution without fear of wrongdoings ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Under this section, by analyzing a past event where Volkswagen had changed its corporate governance orientation due to market condition in the early 1990s, we will evaluate how its strategic design for remuneration and incentive systems were changed in the 2000 as a result. We will also discuss and evaluate the implications of its most recent remuneration scheme changes since 2011. Due to increased competition and dismal record of profitability of the auto industry in 1993, top management at Volkswagen had been adopting the shareholder value principles as the new style of corporate governance. Subscription limitation was divided according to three groups: 1. wage and salary earners subject to collective agreements, 2. salary earners and management not subject to collective agreements below top management, 3. top management. Employees of the first group can subscribe for ten options, the second for 100 options, and the third for 1,000 options. Each option gives the right to buy 10 shares. The subscription of stock options assumed that the employee also subscribed for time asset papers. For each option employee had to have 100 DM on his time asset paper account. Thus the time asset scheme was supported and facilitated by means of the share option plan. For tax reasons the time asset paper is in particular advantageous for managers. They are made more attractive by linkage to the stock option schemes. The time asset scheme can thus also help to solve problems of retaining personnel. The computational theory of mind allows us to keep this information (beliefs and desires) in our explanations of behavior. By doing this, the meaning ended up to cause and be cause. Steven Pinker believed that computational theory of mind came about through natural selection in order for our ancestors to solve and problems with the new conditions such as figuring out of how to defeat the plants and animals defenses before they counteract. He went through and done things that Christ had done such as being persecuted for his faith, carried a beam of wood on his shoulders, and came to rescue the unqualified world. Harrison was taken away from home and went through series of rough treatment. He was terrorized for his beliefs, as with Jesus when He suffered the same way. And George, while his intelligence was way above normal, had a little mental handicap radio in his ear. It is not very clear that George is fairly aged in the story, but the movie says else wise. In my head, it seemed as if George was younger than the movie version of him. Through the movie, George is physically displayed as a balding, aged man with the looks of a seventy or an eighty year old man. I will also apply the human ecological theory in order to facilitate the understanding of factors that affect youth participation in the hip hop culture. Culture is generally described as a way of life. It entails the meanings, values, practices, and beliefs that are usually contrasted with structure, nature, and biology (Alim, 2006). As a concept, culture can be divided into two. I was sitting around with my best friends in our sleeping bags giggling just like every other young girl would at a movie like this one. Though the acting is exaggerated, it is effective in portraying the stereotypes of cliques among high schools through its characters, actresses/actors, special effects, and costumes. It s one of those movies where it s so bad it s good. The acting is meant to be terrible. For example, a dumb blonde known as Karen says, If you re from Africa, why are you white? . If a teacher of a special education classroom is working with 15 different students who have different learning styles and needs, that makes the teacher s position very difficult, especially if they did not receive the needed training in order to do so (Petersen, 2016). It is essential to serve every single one of our students (whether they have a disability or not), however if a educational system is not properly training their teachers, who are then not providing the needed adjustments for the lesson, then the entire school system is providing insufficient educational support for their disabled students, and for every student for that matter. According to Lisel Mueller, written in 1976, her poem Hope is about how hope could be found everywhere and is part of everything, even in the roughest situations. I think the theme of this poem is that hope is present, even if it is extremely hard to find. Mueller uses many metaphors to describe hope as if it were something else. Mueller uses metaphors to help show where hope could be found and broaden its understanding. She presents metaphors on how hope is hiding, is in nature, and is found somewhere else. The first three lines of the poem is a great way to describe hope. It hovers in dark corner/ before the lights are turned on, this shows that hope is hiding and isn t seen. I think that this means hope is hard to find. For example, many individuals have something terrible happen and have zero hope in anything getting better. And this is not only a discussion between citizens and citizens or leaders and leaders but rather between citizens and leaders; the press simply acts as a medium. Justice Douglas wrote in New York Times Co. v. United States that [o]pen debate and discussion of public issues are vital to our national health. On public questions there should be uninhibited, robust, and wide open debate. Although debate and discussion are vital to the Republic, maybe society should rethink about how uninhibited, robust, and wide open those debates really are. Society today tends to think of debates as two opposing ideas battling each other out in order to ascertain which idea comes out in first, and, as Kovach and Rosenstiel point out, a debate focused only on the extremes of argument does not serve the public but instead leaves most citizens out (167). The problem with this is that there are not only one or two given positions on any given issue, but there are many positions. In the debates that go on today, those positions which are often left out are often those which are also most agreeable with each other. So instead of letting debates focus only on the extremes, [t]he public forum must include the broad areas of agreement, where most of the public resides and where the solutions to society s problems are found (Kovach and Rosenstiel 167). • 29. The Importance Of Omniscience In The Holy Spirit It is crucial that Christians not only put trust in God and the Son but that Christians also entrust themselves in the Holy Spirit, considering he is fully divine and personal. The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you. (Romans 8:11) Paul is declaring that through the spirit God will give believers new life, in which humans are transformed into the likeness of Christ Making the debate over foreknowledge is one of the liveliest debates within evangelicalism today. (Boyd, Eddy 49) According to The Pocket Dictionary of Theological Terms Foreknowledge is defined as To know in advance . Regarding foreknowledge, Arminian and Calvinists disagree on how God acquires his knowledge. Calvinists believe that God foreknows all that shall come to pass because he predestined it. Others, called Arminians, believe God foreknows all things simply because they shall come to pass, though humans to some extent determine it by their free will. (Boyd, Eddy 48) All orthodox Christians believe it is true that God is omniscient. The question is if God knows every detail of the future or only enough where people are still free in their decisions. It could be that God has some details of the future, but one decides definite details by their own free will. This process leaves the specimens with a mirror like finish. A 2% Nital solution, a combination of nitric acid and methanol, is then put on the polished faces. The specimens are then ready to be viewed under the microscope where the grain structures can be observed. The treatment these metals have experienced should affect certain properties of their microstructure. It is expected that the fully annealed specimen will be softer than the untreated specimen because larger grains are produced in the annealing process, unlike that of the cold worked specimen. This specimen will be harder and have a higher strength than the untreated specimen because the cold working makes the grains smaller and more compact.
